Well, I'm off to see the Brownies . . . of the Girl Scout type, that it. ;) My great-niece's troop needs an author to talk to them -- I'm not sure why; something to do with a badge requirement, probably. For family, I'll do that for free; they're getting a real bargain here.

This should be an active couple of hours! I remember 7-year-olds!

Just spent the last couple hours with my version of sitting around a campfire - outside, anyway - with my neighbor, co-worker here and friend Carol. She's going to Alaska next summer and I gave her my Terri and Mike Church book to look at and keep and we went over things on the map, etc. Have my lunch fixed for work and am catching up on the forum before having to walk Peaches and head to work.

The last couple nights at work have flown by with my new trainees keeping me hopping. Hope this keeps up - I like when the time goes fast.

They keep telling me we'll start seeing cooler temps here (it is cool when we come home from work) but so far all days are for sundresses or shorts - love it.

I think the modern Girl Scouts and Brownies are such neat organizations to have such things as badges for writing and reading! Much neater than Boy Scouts. :)

Bumping this up. Back in Napa and have a sparking, clean motorhome. My son had washed his trailer this morning at his house here in Napa, so I took my motorhome over and he gave it a scrubbing. He does a much better job than I do, mostly because I am 5'1" and he is 6'3"--yes, we have some weird genes in our family! I had a brother that tall, but both my parents were short. (His dad was average height.) Handy when you need something done that requires height.

Also, got a call from the hand orthopedic doctor, and I am going to see him first thing Monday morning for my trigger finger. I expect I will get a cortisone injection, but the nurse said if I did, I could still drive a vehicle. Then I will head out east to visit a couple of COE campgrounds near Yosemite and then head to Yosemite for a few days. Got to get out of town because I am getting antsy to be on the road.

Took my 8-year-old grandson shopping today and out to lunch. Bought him several pairs of pants. His little sister gets hand-me-downs from girl cousins, but this child is the only boy in the family. Hard to fit him because he is going to be tall and skinny like his dad, but I got him to try everything on. Now, at least I know his size and what he likes.

Heading out to the pumpkin patch with the kids tomorrow. Been a long time since I have bought a pumpkin!

Judy, I had a trigger finger and thumb a few years ago. I had an appt to see the hand Dr, but we were headed to Mesa for Spring Training, gone for a month and 1/2. I put a "small" hair clip on my thumb and finger (different hands). It stopped the finger and thumb from bending and catching. They both stopped catching. I now have a copper ring on my thumb (it was worse of the 2) and nothing on my ring finger. That was 4 years ago and I don't have any problem with them anymore. No needles no medical cost. It could have been a coincidence, but I don't think so

Susan, they do recommend putting something on it to keep it from bending, and I have been doing that several hours a day for almost three months, but the next step is maybe cortisone. I have been taping it, but the tape gets wet and is hard to manage when you are doing messy things, so I am also going to ask for a real finger brace thing.

I have good insurance, luckily, but I will do whatever the doctor suggests. My finger is so swollen and sore now I can hardly bend it anyway. Between the carpal tunnel syndrome on my right hand and the trigger finger on my left, I barely have any hands left! Very hard to wring out dishrag and washcloths. Also hard to type with the finger taped.

I am falling apart ever since I turned 70!

Judy, I found this info that might be helpful...

"...there is a simple, safe, and very reliable treatment that's worked every time I've asked anyone with this problem to try it, since 1975. That's 36 years, and so far it hasn't failed once! The only "drawback" is that a full recovery can take up to six months, or occasionally longer.

The cure for trigger finger is vitamin B6. 50 milligrams of a form of vitamin B6 called pyridoxal-5-phosphate (P5P) taken three times daily will slowly diminish and then eliminate even the worst trigger fingers. Just keep in mind that it can take up to six months, although many less serious cases take considerably less time..."

Susan, what does the copper ring do?

Audrey had fun at her first Puppy Match. She liked the "stuffie" that she won best and proudly carried it from the building out to the car! :) She was the only English Cocker there which isn't all that unusual for a puppy match but she also took home the Sporting Group 1 placement. Which means that she placed over the Golden. the Lab, the Springer, etc. I think there were 8-9 breeds total in the group today....but hey once the judge put us in the front of the line my mind sort of went blank. I have enough trouble watching my dog and making sure my two left feet don't get her way or mine!

The sporting group judge was an actual AKC judge, rather than just an experienced breeder that the host club asked to judge (...which is all acceptable and standard practice for a puppy match. Hey, our club even had me judge one year! :D ) So I was even more pleased with his opinion knowing that he was familiar with all the breeds he was judging.

Audrey is really looking elegant; I love her topline (don't know much about English Cockers, but that's a lovely topline). Her first Group win! This bodes well . . .
