New Orleans

I'll be heading to New Orleans tomorrow and staying at pontchartrain landing rv park.

I was wondering if anyone has recommendations for to do's, tours, or just fun stuff.

Thanks

..
Upsidedown Margaritas? Oh, wait - I was WAY younger when I did that...
Now, I'd probably just get dizzy and nauseated throwing my head upsidedown on a bar and having liquor poured in my mouth...
And the bartender holding my nose and shaking my head.
Doesn't sound like so much fun three decades later.

Forget that idea. So, nope, got nothin'.

Oh, wait - bread pudding at Commander's Palace.
Out of this world.

Hi
All kinds of fun things to do in the Big Easy... Eating is a requirement as the food is excellent. Ride the free ferry back and forth on the Mississippi and note all the cargo ships. Visit the French Market and listen to jazz on Bourbon St. Drinking is allowed on the streets, so the young people get intoxicated to the point of being sick, but a Hurricane is a fun drink and you can buy a fishbowl size drink... The WW II museum is a must if you like history. There's Harrod's if you want to gamble. Gardens should still be pretty, ride the trolley all over town . Wish I could join you. Have fun. Peggy

Eat, eat, and eat. Commander's Palace, Breakfast at Brennan's, soul food at Dooky Chase's, Camellia Grill, Acme Oyster House, muffalettas at Central Grocery, so much good food. A must for any trip to NOLA is cafe au lait and beignets at Cafe du Monde. Enjoy.

Mitch, can we have an image of that? Or a 30 year-old photo? I am having problems imagining how this works?

My first visit to New Orleans was when I was in college. I had a Hurricane at Pat O'Brien's and don't remember much after that. It's been a long time since I have been there at night. This time of year would be good, not too hot.

You have been given good suggestions of places to visit and where to eat. Just walking in the quarter is a treat. Have a great time!

PS too bad you did not stop around the Lafayette area. You could have come with me to the Boudin Cook-Off.

I see these events in the paper and then forget about them.

I will need to hit New Orleans again but with others. Did not enjoy my first visit except for Cafe du Mond and the beignets. I arrived the day after a murder in the French Quarter and the cg host really scared me about traveling alone there. It was also chilly and raining which was miserable.

Joan, maybe the next time you go I can meet you there. We just can't tell my DH where I'm going. He thinks I don't have any business in NO. New Orleans is like most cities, there are places you don't want to go at night. Even in my little town of about 15,000 there is an area I would't go at night. My step-daughter has lived in NO since college and they think nothing of going where ever they want.
