Coffee, coffee & more coffee! Not much going on for me this weekend, so just popping in to say hi!

Yum, pumpkin muffins sound good. Sure can tell the seasons are changing, just by the different breakfast offerings on here. Nothing but cold cereal and some strawberries on the menu for here this morning although we do have some leftover corn muffins from dinner last night.

Rain is the word weather wise for here today. Actually had some hail at one point yesterday after. Started turning the ground white a bit. So seasons are definitely changing. Rain/snow mix is forecasted for at least three days this coming week, so will be working on sign crafts inside I guess.

Lori, glad to hear you breezed through the CT scan and then went out and enjoyed the food and wine tasting afterwards. Ava, that beach sounds divine./snow mix is fore

Only things on agenda here today are heading for Farmer's Market this morning, loading the freezer my friend bought into her van and then tonight we are off to the "Confederate Railroad" concert here in town. Should be fun as one of the local country singers who works at the State Park where I worked is leading off. Should be a great night.

Good morning Carol and Sue and all to follow. Oh my mouth's a waterin for those pumpkin muffins. My DD bought some Keurig cups with pumpkin spice flavor, but not the same, but will do for this morning. It's been raining all night and it got down to the high 40s. But will be in the 70s with sun today. Thinking about driving up to the renaissance festival and harass DD at her job dressed as a jester DH headed to other side of town for sporting clay tournament. I'd rather watch people in renaissance garb joust from horses than watch men shoot at clay discs thrown from the bushes Oh, yes and the food at the festival. Scottish eggs, fried Aligator, wine tasting, mead tasting, turkey legs....list goes on and on. Everyone have a great day and stay safe. Aloha.

Morning, Carolb, Sue, Red, and those who follow....well, am slow getting started today....after all the stuff I went thru this last summer with good results....this head cold is going to kill me... Up and down all night with the coughing and nose dripping....so ended up in the recliner so that Ernie could get some sleep...but I think I'm on the down hill slide....not coughing as bad this morning....and the sneezing & drippy nose is gone....been battling this since Tues....so if the old saying is correct..."colds last 1 week to 10 days" I'm on the mend.. ..Haven' had a cold in a couple years....I just think that my resistance has been down plus getting that darn flu shot did it...

Everyone here is busy....Oh, and I'm so bad....got behind welcoming the new gals....so here's my blanket "Howdy, and Welcome"....I'll try to do some posting personally, soon....

Good Morning! All this pumpkin talk made me think about the bottle of pumpkin spice crème liqueur that Peggy gave us for a hostess gift. Thought about topping off my coffee with some this morning but then decided it probably wouldn’t be in my best interest if I want to accomplish anything today! By the way, thank you again Peggy! If none of you have tried it…do! It’s delicious.

Good news on the home front. Harvest is finished! Alleluia! Well everything important is harvested. DH's potato crop is still in the ground….he planted 300# of potatoes this year. What he plans to do with all of them I have no idea. Some of you who have been on the forum for a few years know he has this obsession with planting potatoes since he bought an antique potato planter and a picker. Now he has added pumpkins, too! The past couple of years he has planted enough that he can supply the local elementary school K-4 classes with pumpkins for each of the kids and also for our future DIL’s class in a neighboring town. Oh well….it keeps him off the streets and out of trouble!

Last night we had our first light frost. It appears my impatiens and coleus are toast. Winterizing the 5er is on the agenda for today. That’s always a depressing job.

Guess I’d best hop in the shower and get motivated. Sure wish I was on the road with some of you, but I live vicariously through your travels. Absolutely love all the good news from those of you who have been having health issues! Tears of joy have been shed as I sat and read all your final test results!

Good Morning All, Pumpkin muffins sound divine this morning! Had dinner and a nice visit with Ava last night. Her daughters wedding plans sound so nice. Guess the grandsons are enjoying the beach as she had a time getting them out of the water yesterday! Of course our weather is cooperating in making this a spectacularly nice weekend!

Lyn, just saw your post - glad to see you & Ava were able to get together. Ava, we're all looking forward to pics from the wedding.

Trying to keep up with all the new folks - Welcome one & all. This is the best group ever - but I know you've witnessed that since joining.

Spent last weekend in Guatemala attending the funeral of my beloved uncle. Thousands attended from central & south America along with those around the world who were able to watch via a live feed. Bob was the last living co-founder of the organization I work for & loved by everyone. He will be missed greatly.

So appreciate Peggy being here the day after this news came - got to talk about other topics for a bit while this unreality started to settle in. She is a lovely person & listened graciously as I shared some of Bob's life & our work. Next time I hope I have more time to show her around town a bit more.

Hope to have a quiet uneventful weekend - probably going to winterize my van as the temps came close to freezing last night. Hate to see the time come when I take her to storage. My driveway looks so lonely during the winter - so feel free to stop even if just for a while.

Good Morning to all... wow this is a busy place this morning... pumpkin muffins sound very good... I have a piece of toast with jam on it... coffee is extra good... am back to using a strainer with a filter in it Keurig is on the fritz again... will use white vinegar to clean it later...

Need to go shopping today the pantry is empty! but it will not be a bad job as the sun is shining and it will be in the 60s later... no frost here yet....

Catherine, what a wonderful man your uncle was. Having spent time in El Salvador where my ex and in-laws are from, I've seen the horrible conditions many in the world must endure. Your uncle, his work and his organization are a blessing to all. Please accept my sympathies for your loss, but be heartened that his love and commitment will continue to provide hope for so many marginalized people in the world. We all should strive to leave such a legacy of good works when we leave this earth.

dpf, I'm curious -- does your husband grow heirloom variety potatoes with his vintage equipment? Like those purple-fleshed Peruvian potatoes? Gosh, those are good; the taste reminds me of the potatoes we grew when I was a kid.

We have theatre tickets tonight -- something about Shakespeare and the zombie apocalypse. Should be funny!

I'm moving slow this morning. No plans except to get dressed. Probably need to go grocery shopping. I cooked lunch twice this week so good thing we aren't where it snows or we would have a blizzard. It did rain another 1 1/2 last night. It is only 66 this morning. I need to dig out some long pants before too long. I hate to give up sandals.

Pumpkin muffins sound good. I had a left over biscuit. Last week I made pumpkin bread from a recipe on Facebook. I wasn't sure we would like it. We must have, it made 2 loaves and we ate both of them. It was more like cake than bread.

Pat, I think of your DH when I think of potatoes. Your garage will be full of potatoes. I'm glad my DH has about given up trying to grow tomatoes. He tries to get me involved in that and I resist. Our horse cut her leg and my DH has been doctoring that for 3 weeks. I think she does that on purpose so he won't ride her.

Red, the food at the Renaissance Festival sounds more interesting than the clay shooting. My son's class went to that one year but I have never been. I think there is a Renaissance Festival over toward Baton Rouge too.

Martha! Potatoes in the garage are a very sore subject around here. One year when Dennis dug the potatoes and they were muddy. So he put a tarp down in on the garage floor and laid the potatoes on them to dry. Well, I came home from work, our driveway has a bit of an incline and if I don’t open the garage door when I'm on the street and wait until I’m almost to the door I can’t see the floor of the garage. So I came home and drove over two tarps full of potatoes. Sm@#$ A$$ DH goes to coffee the next day and has to tell all his cronies….luckily it was before I came home the next day and did the same thing! (Wouldn’t you think that HE would have learned his lesson????) Anyway I kept getting phone calls all evening from people asking for my mashed potato recipe…..not to mention I also made the local newspaper editor’s column “Around Town”….which reminds me that I still need to flatten the editor's tires some night.

Havingfun….I don’t think any of them are heirloom potatoes. He did try some variety of blue potatoes one year but they didn’t produce well and they made butt ugly mashed potatoes…kinda of a bluish gray…they did not lend themselves to an appetizing presentation. About as extravagant as he gets are the Yukon Golds and Roses.
