Ok, signed up for passport america and saved a little bit on the reservation. Will look during the coming year at more passport america rv parks to give them a try.

I set up my reservation online so I got an email indicating that I am in pull through #38 (although this may change.)

Looking forward to seeing everyone.

I don't even care. To be honest, I have just a tetch of anxiety about this 3,000 mile trip I'm about to undertake. :o :( :o I'm counting on this meetup for a good send-off.

Ellen, my short-lived experience with my motorhome gave me enough self-confidence to tackle a 5600-mile round trip to Ohio last month. I sold my RV this last summer, so my trip was taken by car, but I worried about my ability to take this sort of trip alone. In the three weeks I was gone, I encountered about an hour and a half of pure terror in a sleet storm in North Dakota. My mantra for each day's driving was: start early--keep driving. I didn't really start that early; I waited until the sun was above the visor. I also planned on 350 miles per day, which allowed me to never have to hurry yet to be able to stop for the night well before dark. This trip could easily have been made in an RV. There wasn't a lot of time for tourist attractions, but I did buy jewelry. It also helped that all of the national parks and monuments were closed to the public, so there were fewer temptations.

You will do fine and I hope you have a great time!! Hope to see you down the road a ways.

Hi Ellen from Spokane,
I know that we have not met, I recently joined the group. I'm in Lodi, CA, about 30 minutes south of Sacramento. I have a large driveway in a safe neighborhood. You are welcome to park in my driveway if you need an overnight stop on your way South. It's about 15 minutes off of I-5. Just thought I let you know. I'll be around. I recently drove my car from Ashland to Lodi and it took me about 7 hours with my dog and a few extra potty stops. It's a long drive. Anyway, if you want a free stop, just let me know.

Thanks, Lisa! That's a really cool offer! I'm hoping to visit my aunt and uncle, near Walnut Creek, probably for a dinner, so I'm going to look for a campground close to them for just the night and then keep moving south the next morning. May I have a rain check for a possible return trip?

On edit: looking around Google Maps and RVParkReviews, there's not much to choose from around my aunt and uncle, so more likely I'll try to time it for a lunch with them and then get a few more hours down I-5. Request for rain check still stands, though! :D

Hi Ellen,
Sure, any time. Lodi is actually a pretty cool little town. We have 80 wineries. It's the Zinfindel wine capitol of the world. Bet you didn't know that! Lots of fun stuff to do in the summers at the wineries. Concerts, wine and chocolate tastings, Grape Festival in Sept., wine stroll downtown a few times a year. Here is a link. http://www.bing.com/search?q=wineries&p ... owAppsUI=1
I'm actually not a big wine drinker or any drinker except coffee and tea. I'm good for maybe 1 glass at an event and I'm done. LOL
Maybe Lodi would be a fun GTG for the future. There is a RV park near I-5 and one in the river town of Rio Vista near Lodi. Anyway....
Have a safe trip!
