I received the following email from a friend in Illinois, seems like AL won't be the only place seeing increases. We are still waiting to hear what our options are, all we know so far is the insurance we now have is no longer going to be an option....
"The BCBS site STILL does not recognize me as a member and the PDF forms that give specific information on the plans do not work, but I can tell that in order to keep the same plan in 2014 that I have now, my premiums will increase from $435 per month to $645 per month. I still don't know if we must buy the dental coverage that includes pediatric services. That would be an additional $55 per month. I can keep the same premium, but will have to go into a much more limited PPO network, take a higher deductible and assume 100% of expenses before the deductible is met instead of 80%.
So after Obamacare was passed in 2010, we've had our premiums increased 25% in 2011, 15% in 2012, 17% for this year, another 7% for the last 2 months of 2013 and now a 48% increase (at least) for 2014. That's a 166% increase in our premiums in four years"
I wonder what happened to these promises
"The average family's premiums will decrease by $2500." Barack Obama
"If you like your insurance, you'll get to keep it." Barack Obama
