Waiting is tough Mitch, but the doctor's assessment seems very positive. One would hope that the test would be cheaper than chemo therapy for the insurance company. Keep the fighting spirit and your great sense of humor. Vickie is a tremendous support and a wonderful friend. Hugs for both of you. Peggy

I ain't giving up quite yet...none of you would keep The Pest in line, and we all know how desperately she needs that. She lives to make me miserable.

Better to wait another 2 weeks and maybe not have to have chemo...I mean really? It's bad enough you had to lose your boobs, but to lose what little hair you have on top of that? That's like adding insult to injury. So here's hoping you don't have to have chemo (nasty stuff it is!) and get to keep your hair!! Hugs, GF!

Waiting will be hard, but with this test, you will have a more specific test result to know where you stand with the cancer.

There are some awesome holistic treatments to help keep cancer at bay, too. Alkaline diet, oxygen therapy and pawpaw fruit are all good things to look into, if you are interested. Here is a link for info on Pawpaw: http://www.pawpawresearch.com/pawpaw-intro.htm

A positive outlook and a great sense of humor are, of course, essential to any health issues, so you have that part down! :D

When will you know if/when you do this test? What does it involve? Just a blood sample, or more invasive?

Mitch, sounds like a good Dr. visit today. Onward and upward. I'm so glad you had Vicki by your side and with you. Thanks Vicki for being such a good friend and for having such a great husband for helping and being support for both of you!!

yes waiting stinks but this sounds like it won't be too bad....at least you will have a better informed
test to base your decisions on...take a trip that will make the waiting easier...follow Vicki home and continue to be a pest...
as to "they should cover it probably cheaper than treatment" ...you would think they would think that but I've found
insurance company's really don't think....when I was having my babies we had to deal with RH factor I'm neg hubby was positive...at that time they didn't want to pay for the shot because it was based on a blood by product..but if you didn't get the shot the possibilities for the next one was horrendous...they finally saw the light and paid for them as shots when as it's a blood by product was expensive..one of the reason later on I "donated" plasma and was in a program that provided those by products...felt like even though I was compensated for my time ect....that I paid back some that I got...

I can answer Barbie's question about what kind of test this is, blood test or more invasive... It's neither! No additional blood will be spilled nor body parts sacrificed. The doc will send actual specimens from surgery as well as all the pathology reports leading up to the surgery (biopsies, blood, etc) and all sorts of Mitch-demographics to a company called Genomic Health, Inc. From all that data, they'll come up with Mitch's score, hopefully somewhere in the <18 range.

That's it exactly. And my friend on FB found that the test costs $4,175.

I know I would have been in a world of hurt without my Vickie and Phyllie.
And also without all the caring and support and chuckles from this wonderful group of women.

I have another good friend who doesn't get on FB much, but she read my update last night and sent me this email this morning:

Saw the update on your facebook post late last night. First Vicki's haircut is gorgeous looks beautiful. Second I knew it was only a matter of time before naked on a beach was part of the conversation. Keep the faith!!!

Sounds like good news! I had the test and my insurance covered it. I know waiting is hard, but still great to hear good news.

Waiting sucks!! I have my fingers crossed.
