Thundering Thursday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Another quiet day in the backwoods. I made biscuits and gravy for breakfast at the Boy Chicks request. DIL isn't a big breakfast eater and doesn't like bisquits so I make it a couple of times when I'm here. She's a really good cook, but I don't know if she knows how to make bisquits or not. I'm pretty sure I gave her the recipe a few years ago.

Found a long vertical crack in my windshield yesterday. sigh. Not something that can be repaired. New windshield in my future. This trip has been expensive this year. 12V solenoid switching relay..60.00-labor free. Step motor. 260 + 50 labor. New windshield...probably over 1000. Thank goodness it's free to camp here...and they feed me! :D

Well, enough whining for today, DIL and I are on a dog washing mission today. 4 dogs need baths and Happy Jacked!

Carolb, not to worry, I'll be there this winter. Off and on. You'll have to time it right. Are you gonna Quartszite it this year? Slab City?

Good morning gals! Just getting ready for work. It has been quiet there lately, except for the new girl who is a real drama queen and always has some major crisis or health issue she is whining/crying about. It gets real old real fast!

It thundered and rained heavily all night. We need the rain tho and I enjoy the lightning and thunder. However, by tomorrow we (the whole Midwest, south to north) is under a tornado and severe weather alert. High potential for tornado outbreaks, so anyone in the way, should pay attention for the next couple days. Kind of late in the season for it but it can happen.

My allergies have been really bad lately too. I never had any problem while I was in California but as soon as I got back to MN, they started right up again.

Have a good day and stay safe and happy!

Thunder Storm moving over us and Remi is hiding under the desk. He is not a fan of the boomies.

Fighting a cold but so far it has stayed up in the sinuses and not traveled south. I thought I might be catching something when I was out in MT, but I couldn't tell. My voice is usually the first sign but we had been talking and laughing so hard the night before I wasn't sure. (Sort of like your voice after a close high school basketball game.... :? ) Anyways....I got bids from three contractors to replace my falling down deck in back and need to call the one I am excepting. At some point I may have a house that I am not embarrassed for guests to visit. :) The dogs will like the new digs for sure. They are the ones that use it the most! :) Audrey is growing like a beautiful weed. I may drive down to Louisville on Sunday to visit two of her siblings and give a class on grooming..... I just know Audrey's brother and sister will love that. "NO, NO not the clippers!" :o

Sarah, warn your niece about constipation from the pain meds. That was honestly the most painful part of this entire ordeal. Lots of painful parts, but that was the worst. Get a jar of stool softeners and have her keep it close. I'd take a pain pill with a stool softener chaser...

When I told surgeon on first follow-up visit, his comment was "oh, yeah, from the pain meds..." Uh, like, don't you think patients should be warned BEFOREHAND?

Hopefully, that was not TMI!

And Sharon, what's "Happy Jacked"?

Good Morning All from Sacramento. I'm staying with a friend here for a few days before heading home. Clear blue sky and cool wind blowing.
I went over to the beach for a couple of days....Bodega Bay, and was it cold!!! This is not the time of year to go to the beach in Northern Calif!
Lots of good news on the MC this morning. And, to Joan E, my ex, his girl friend and I are all friends!!! I stayed with them when I visited NH, and, they stay with me when they visit San Diego. Some people are shocked when they hear this. Makes for a good story and a laugh. The kids think its fine!!!
Have a great day all, lyn

Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream Factory sounds like it could become one of my favorite places. Will have to get to New England one of these years. Had my mammogram in June, so I am all set for a while. Just need to get my knees and my kidney stuff checked out. I got my CAT scan yesterday, so that is one down. Just need a cystoscopy now for the kidney problem.

I was supposed to go to Yosemite on Monday, but I was able to extend my stay here in Napa for two days and then am going to try one of the regional parks around Bodega Bay on the ocean. More expensive than Yosemite and no electric, but being on the ocean will be nice. It is a couple hour drive and I should be able to get a walk-in spot on a Wednesday. Then after a few days there, I have to come back here to Napa for the orthopedic surgeon appointment. After that, who knows?? There are several COE parks I want to try out and maybe they will be open by then.

I saw a lot of my DH's ex wife since she lived across the road from his mother. He didn't want to deal with her so I was the one that had to talk to her. My son and I helped her move into assisted living. Her sons sure didn't help their mother. Her daughters knew we helped her and thanked us.

Lori, you are just going to have to stay up late. I have been a night owl all my life. If I went to bed before midnight I would be up at 3:00. Wine doesn't help me sleep either. I will fall asleep for a couple of hours and then be up. Maybe I don't drink enough of it.

Anita, if I had know you were going to Ben & Jerry's I would have had you as them why I can find my favorite flavor. Sometimes I can find it at Target in Lafayette but that takes some advanced planning so it doesn't melt before I get home. I had one of the stock boys half way in the freezer trying to find me one.

CArol, good luck on finding a new doctor. Mine retired 4 years ago. His group had all my records for the last 35 years but there were only 2 doctors in that group I could go to. I finally went to see one of them this year but I was not impressed with him. I'm afraid to see what the fall out is going to be with this new health care act. Blue Cross is dropping the drug plan my DH has. The government can make them take people with pre existing conditions but they can't keep them from stop selling policies altogether.

The company my sister works for has their contract paid until November. Surely they will get their head out of their a$$ before then and do something.

Sharon, it's hard to believe someone doesn't like biscuits. I like them a little too much. If you ever run across the Red Lobster Cheddar Bay Biscuit Mix try it. I found it at Sam's but haven't looked for it at Walmart. My grandson could really put those away.

The ford place called yesterday and it's the brake rotors that are warped and there is play in the steering wheel. I thought it was probably the rotors from what I found on the internet. I hope they got rid of the service advisor I had in August. He is a doofus and not in a good way like our's. ;) My DH doesn't want to spend any money to repair a vehicle. I don't want a motorhome as a yard ornament. I have things to do and places to go. I took the old truck and got the trade-in value and got prices of new vehicles and he did nothing. I am done with that.

We are watching the storm in the gulf. It is suppose to go East of us but it will make us very nervous until it goes on shore. I don't think it will get real strong but where ever it goes in is going to get a lot of rain.

Lyn, be careful coming home, Santa Ana's for the next few days!

Martha, I make my own Red Lobster bisquits. Years and years ago DH and I ate there and he fell in love with a biscuit. I came home and experimented. Took 4 batches til I got them right...or so he said. All 4 batches were made the same, he just kept telling me no so I would keep making them! They're really easy to make.

MItch, 1 pain pill + 3 prunes = happy camper!

Mamo is due in Feb. I have one every year.

I have seen the recipe for the Red Lobster biscuits on the internet but I'm lazy.

My DH has been in the hospital so many times over the years that we found out about the pain medication causing constipation a long time ago. He takes Metamucil at home and would try to get the hospital to give him something. It was such a pain to get them to give him what he wanted and when he wanted it that the last time he was in he brought his own and didn't tell them anything.

I'm inland and the winds are something else here today. Two of us are talking about going to San Fran tomorrow to ride the cable cars (funny that both of us have been there but never done that) - hope it's not toooo windy.

Thanks! (from one of the Dewfus's :D )

"And Sharon, what's "Happy Jacked"?

Wondering that too?? :?

Whenever I hear about Bodega Bay, I think about Alfred Hitchcock's movie "The Birds" I have never been there tho.

***Ladies, what are your favorite flavors of Ben & Jerry's?? Mine is Phish Food! Chocolate ice cream with marshmallow and carmel swirls with chocolate fish pieces in it. Yum!!!

My favorite Ben & Jerry flavor is Cream Brûlée. It's vanilla with burnt sugar swirled through.
