Thank you for the invite and intro, Velda. Hello to all. I am Brenda, age 49, from Western NC. I have loved RVing since I was a young girl and my aunt and uncle got a spiffy RV to travel around the country in. I was fascinated and have been hooked ever since. I purchased my first RV when my daughter (now age 18) was 4, and we spent a good deal of her childhood tooling around at our leisure, as she was home schooled. It was a wonderful bonding experience for both of us, one that we still share. I became disabled by lupus many years ago, and made up my mind that I wouldn't allow that to slow me down from my RV passion, so with some modifications, I have been able to continue pursuing my dream. My daughter just started college, and I have long said that once she did, I would sell our house and live full time in an RV-I just didn't realize how quickly that time would come! I recently did some upgrades and remodeling on my house with the hopes of putting it on the market within the next couple of years, buying another RV (I sold my last one last year-couldn't get it equipped well enough to manage my challenges). I am excited to find a group for us gals to share and learn from each other, and I look forward to getting to know you all! I am quite familiar with yahoo groups, but haven't done much with forums, so if I am doing anything out of line, or incorrectly, please let me know so I can learn the proper etiquette. Velda that invited me has been an absolute blessing of a friend to me for quite some time now. Leave it to the clever lass to find a group such as this for us. Thanks for having me.

Thanks for the warm welcomes! What a lovely group! Being here just one day has already inspired me to want to start RV shopping in the very near future! Due to my handicaps and allergies, I only seek rigs that are 1994 or earlier, since they started mandatory flame retardants in RV's in 95, and I react poorly to them. I have been eyeballing the Born Free with great interest, and LOVE the Rialta, which is a small van style, but perhaps a little too small. Being handicapped, the smaller the better, but I also don't want to be too cramped. Would love to hear any suggestions or recommendations from you wise ladies!

Welcome, Brenda, from another N.C. person. You didn't say what part of the state other then western, which is where I am too. Murphy area. Hope you will post often and really join in the fun that sometimes pops up on here. We might be an rving group, but we also cover many other topics, some interesting, some hilarious and most days just reading will boost the blue moods we all sometimes fall into. Most of all this group, when the bad times hit us, and we all seem to one time or another fall into them, this group is the greatest !!!!!!

Welcome from Texas. If you have a problem with offgasing fumes wouldn't an older used rig have pretty much finished the problem? Many of us had the carpets taken out just cause they're yucky anyway. I bought my 1999 Roadtrek on line from www.vantasticvans.com and I was really happy with them.

Welcome Brenda, I too have scent reactions and I understand the problems. My first requirement when RV shopping was that it didn't smell when I opened the door. I went to an RV show in STL looking at different models of Class B's. I was very surprised that with the new Roadtreks (this was about 4 years ago) I noticed strong odors when I poked my head inside but most, not all, of the Pleasure Ways did not bother me. If you buy a ''94 or earlier rig I would think you would have to stick close to a mechanic as there will be endless little and big things that will need repairs, not all of which will be odor free. Just buying new tires is a challenge,I always ask at the place where I've gone for years to put on the ones that don't smell, only to find this last time when the temps went up a smell came out. I'm sure you have dealt with several of these challenges of an overly sensitive system but I think safety and reliability should also be a major part of your decision. I bought a 2003 Pleasure Way that worked for me.
