Let's start our day with a good morning here.

We always do the New England boil with corned beef. Haven't had that since my dad passed! It was one of his favorites.

Beautiful day here in Maryland. Nice cool breeze. Did some seeding of a very shady spot in my yard earlier. I'm hoping to get it to fill in...we shall see. Cleaned cat boxes and now Moka and I are just relaxing on the back deck listening to the crickets and birds and the leaves rustling. Gd is with her mother today. Hopefully she will have dinner before she comes home. If not, we may just order a pizza as I'm feeling lazy!

Lori, congrats on the weight loss! Heres hoping it stays off! I've dropped a few inches myself with the half hour walk in the morning that Moka and I take. But certainly not two sizes!

New England Boiled dinner at my house growing up in NH and VT was corned beef, cabbage, potatoes, and carrots, onions? Please, no rutabagas...

Carol and I left Michigan today. We'll be making our way in a southeasterly direction through Ohio and WV to pick up the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Oh those boiled dinners sound VERY good. Being on the West coast I have never heard of either of them. But they are making me hungry for sure.

Weather is still flippin HOT here. We are supposed to have a cool down this week but I will be heading to the coast so I know it will be cooler if not cold. But I am not going to complain (I hope).
Getting ready to head to the Mill Casino RV Park to meet up with Beth on Tuesday, then the gals for the GTG on Saturday. Packing my sweatshirts and rain clothes....why do I like this idea??? Guess I will throw in some warmer weather clothes too just in case BUT it has been my experience at the Oregon coast it is usually fairly cool and windy. Supposed to rain there this week too, oh well it will feel good either way. Will bring the MH over to the house tomorrow and plug it in and run the fridge, load the clothes then will only have to load the fridge in the am. Might hook up my car then too.

Took my dog to the Vet on Friday for her vaccinations to be updated. I have to drive 40 minutes to this vet BUT this is why.....Got a 3yr DHP shot, Bordatella vaccine, pills for sedation during thunderstorms, Heartworm blood test (apparantly have to be tested every 3 yrs even tho you have been on it consecutively, new rule) had one tooth pulled. Grand total $27.00. I had to ask her to repeat it because I couldn't believe it LOL Now this vets office is a ZOO. There are all kinds of animals in the waiting room. The check in, check out desk is chaos, but guess it is organized chaos because I only waited 5 minutes. My usual wait time is 5-10 minutes. There are 5 or 6 vets there at all times. Dr Tom lives upstairs and is available for emergencies at all times. I feel like this is a diamond in the rough kind of vet. I am taking her in to get her teeth cleaned in 3 weeks, wonder what that cost will be. My neighbor just paid $300 for that procedure. I know mine will be way less.

It's after 6:00 pm here, but thanks for the memories of the boiled dinner. My dad used to make it with ham and the vegetables, but no rutabagas. I remember he used a smoked picnic ham with as much of the fat trimmed as possible. Best things about it was, like stew, it was always better the second day! I remember sprinkling vinegar on it, also. I have not made this in 20+ years, but it is awfully hard to make for one person.

Just finished up with my Tupperware party. Only 4 people showed up. :( None of the girls from work did, so will have to have a chat with them tomorrow! It was fun anyways. Got some free stuff. I ended up baking cookies, and using the filo cups filled with chocolate or vanilla pudding and topping them each with a fresh raspberry. Those went over really good!

Spent some time today looking at photos and video of the flood damage in Colorado. What a horrible mess! The highway from Loveland to Estes Park thru the canyon is all but gone. So many homes and cars washed away and farms flooded. Lots of people still trapped in the mountains. They are telling people who refuse to evacuate that they are on their own and it could be weeks or months before they can get out of their areas, and not to expect any help if they need it. There are I think over 50 bridges that are washed out. Over 500 people still unaccounted for. It is really sad! One 80 year old lady was unable to leave her home due to a previous injury and when her neighbors went to help her, they found her house gone and washed down the river.

Anyways, need to think of happy things now. :D Watching my ferrets chase each other around the room makes me happy! :D Eating the left over chocolate chip cookies makes me happy! :D

Hope you all had a good, safe day!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)
