Warm Sunday Morning in GA

Looks like another warm day here coming....but a little rain, maybe.....Hope it holds off until we're back from the planned boat ride this morning...

I'm the "cook" for dinner today...making my Dad's famous "New England Boiled Dinner" for the gang...It's going to be too hot to do it in the 5er, so the guys have set me up a "turkey frier" with a big pot out by the Tiki Hut....will take photos for your enjoyment..... Andy always makes the "Low Country Boil" for us and I do the "New England Boiled Dinner" for all here....a good trade off, don't cha' think??

Went to the "Good Will" store on Friday to get some pants/capris to fit me...I've gone from a size 16 to a size 12 in the last few months.... but am not getting rid of the larger sizes just yet...cause you never know on the weight thing until the body is healed and back to normal....geez, haven't worn a 12 in over 10 yrs..... Anyways, found 2 pairs of capris for a total of $6.00.... What a deal....

Okay, the coffee is ready and since it's warm here today, some fruit and yogurt for ya'....plus a box of cereal, too....Help yourselves...

Good Morning Lori and everyone,

Wow Lori, down 2 sizes in clothes. That's quite an accomplishment but doing it the hard way of course. But as you say, the body has yet to compensate itself. And a few boiled dinners to boot, should help things along nicely Gosh do they bring back memories for me of all the times we had boiled dinners at thome with cabbage, potatoes, carrots and ribs. My mom was Belgium and that was a Belgium tradition. And thanks for the breakfast goodies too.

Up and at em to get ready to head for church this morning and then off to do a bit of grocery shopping. It's gonna be a damp and cool day here today, so I think a hot bowl of chili will hit the spot. Maybe if I'm lucky, there will be a good movie on the tube today. They only come on when we don't have time to watch them

Finished up my yard projects yesterday and also took the last of the stuff out of my TT to store in the basement for winter. Now all that remains is the winterizing. Will be working on the mechanical equipment this week, changing oil and all that good stuff, getting the snowblower ready for work and the lawn tractor ready to put away in a few more weeks. Once I get through with the eye specialist on Friday, then hopefully I can start thinking seriously of heading north to Michigamme and get things ready to take.

Must get moving here right now and get ready to head for church. Have a wonderful and Blessed Sunday everyone.

Just a quick Good Morning as I need to get on the road again soon.
Another first: Spent night in campground where I was very ill at ease. Lots of big dogs running loose too.
Too much driving past couple of days but not going to do that again. Unexpected need to do a lot of east/west zig zaging trying to get south. Planning a much slower pace the rest of the way.
Excited about todays destination: Will get to meet Carol/Bill of MX fame. Have long admired them and enjoyed her blog ever since joining the forum.
Will try to get my miss-adventures of last couple of days written up and posted for your entertainment soon.

Good morning everyone. I have the same question as Mitch. Actually, I don't know what either of them are. I am a SoCal and Hawaii surfer girl Weather is starting to cool down at night and mornings. But still in the 90s during the day. I know it's been a slow crawl with the sun, but it seems like all of a sudden it doesn't get light out till 7. It feels like it was 5 just last week. The autumnal equinox (day/night hrs are the same) marking the first day of Fall is Sept 22. Everybody that travels is one their way south or getting ready to flee the cold. Boy, this year just wizzed by!!! Not much going on here. Probably gonna go out to the shed where all the seasonal decorations are hiding and bring in the fall stuff. Maybe sort the Xmas stuff and get the next person that visits to help get the lights up. Every one have a great day and stay safe. Aloha y'all

Low Country Boil : Shrimp, sometimes blue crabs, sausage, potatoes, corn and a little onions...all put in a big pot of water with seasoning i.e. Old Bay....at 10-15 minute intervals....pot has a large basket which the boil is drained then spread on a table covered with newspaper....everyone helps themselves..

New England Boiled Dinner: Water, Ham, potatoes, carrots, rudabagers, onions, cabbage....prepared the same as above going from the item that takes the longest to cook to the cabbage.....put into large serving bowl.....again everyone helps themselves....

Now you know....

Shoot! I thought New England had Lobster, clams, corn and potatoes! I was all ready to head south! We had a friend who used to make the New England in a milk can out in the desert every year. Sure did look forward to that! He used hot links instead of the ham.

Good Morning All, It is a beautiful cool morning here not much planned other than church today, but thinking maybe a trip to a fairly new antique mall this afternoon.

Sarah sorry you ended up in a bad campground but happy to hear you are going to visit Carol and The Driver. Remember, I'm in the vicinity, well sort of if you make a zig west Anyone else on their way south, this would be a good stop over especially if you have a canoe or a kayoo. I will be in St Louis next Friday 20th, if anyone is going to be nearby, other than that no plans to be away for now. Elsie has been ready and waiting for a month now. I think she misses the guys at the repair shop as I notice the panel for battery, tanks etc is not working. Last time this happened I took her out there and of course she worked fine when they pressed the buttons, grrrrrr!! I wouldn't worry but the water pump switch is also on that panel. Maybe when I'm in STL I'll drive pass Van City and threaten her with trading her for a younger model

Time to get a move on if I'm going to make church on time, they are having a blessing of the animals service but none of my group are going!!

Good Morning everyone! Orange rolls in the oven....darn you Lori...you mentioned them yesterday and made me hungry for them! You talk about losing weight and I'm going to gain it because of your posts! I love Goodwill and rich women who only wear clothes for only one season and donate them! I need to stop and see if they have any new-to-me sweaters for this winter.

This is a picture of one of our boils taken on a camp out with friends. We used homemade bologna and hotdogs with cabbage, potatoes, carrots, corn on the cob, and turnips....Midwest Boil?



Not planning on doing a heck of a lot today. I do need to clean (shovel) out my work car....gravel parking lot so the mats are full of pebbles and the dust seeps in and leaves a nice coating all over.

well, I was getting ready to ask what a "boil" is all about but as I kept on reading, (thank you very much) I figured it out Seems to be
very easy, and of course we certainly like easy.
Not doing much today, little housework I guess and then of course my kickback afternoon just for relaxing, although I wish I was
somewhere with a view and that I could hear the birds and watch the wildlife. Thats what dreams are made of, of course and
someday it will happen.

Never knew that those boils had different names... my son introduced us to the one with shrimp a few years back - its one of our favorite summertime family dinners.

Donna, I enjoy staying up with you on your blog - 300+ miles in 7 hours thru the mountains is no small feat. I tend to go realy slooooooooowwwwww on mountain roads - that's why I stay on bigger highways so everyone can get around me.

And Lyn, I researched that stretch between Cambria & Carmel on PCH a little - doing it in just 3 hours is amazing - I would probably take a couple of days - IF I ever have the nerve to get on it in the first place.

Sarah, Sounds like you're getting your RV legs - with all sorts of experiences - good & not so good. Isn't it great though that all you have to do is drive off to leave a place you're not comfortable with knowing you have your home with you for a stop later in the afternoon or mid-morning if needed. Glad you're meeting up with others today.

Sue, you are an inspiration to me - getting so much done. It seems you are constantly busy. Keeping your appt on Friday in my prayers.

Lori, we're all envious of your weight loss - just not what you had to go through for it. Glad you're recovering well.

Went to a gathering last night for the documentary our org produced. A lovely couple hosted it at their farm - we projected the film on the side of their historic stone barn. All around a beautiful evening. We have the documentary streaming if anyone has the bandwidth to watch it... You'll probably also see why its hard for me to leave my 'work' for very long.

Well, I'd betting get some laundry done before the day gets away from me which happens to me far too often (I really need to take lessons from Sue).

In Louisiana a boil is crawfish, shrimp or crabs boiled in a cajun seasoning which is mostly cayenne pepper. Most also have small potatoes, onions and corn on the cob. Some people add sausage and mushrooms. Most people put the vegetables in first so they are usually too spicy for me. The restaurants that serve boiled seafood have boiled crabs now. My friend and I usually go several times a season. Crabs are a lot of work but I like them.

All summer we have only had 2 Hummingbirds coming to our feeder. Yesterday there were 5 and this morning there are 7. If they would take turns eating and stop all the fighting they wouldn't have to eat so often. I bet the 2 that had the feeder all to themselves are mad.

My DH is firing up the grill so guess I better make a salad. Most Sunday's we have a ribeye steak for lunch. I can remember when my DH wanted steak several times a week. His doctor put a stop to that.
