Last Day Together

Postby bluepinecones » Fri Sep 13, 2013 7:48 am

Our MI roaming gang with finish breaking up this morning.
Said good bye to CArol on Wed. as she was off to visit relatives. Liz, Leslie and I headed down to Houghton Lake for couple of nights. Found a nice little PA campground with grassy sites; Nicky and I were thrilled with the grass - first we've found on this trip.
We enjoyed a card game Wed. night and decided to go out for early dinner Thurs. Turned out to be a dangerous excursion as there was a big Camping World Super Store along the way. Of course we stopped leaving them with a chunk of our change.
We were thankful not to be on the road as there was a very stiff wind all day. Liz got some pixs of the white caps on lake; she might share those later. Our dinner destination included Liz's Lounge:

We had a water front table with nice wall of glass to protect us from the wind

There were several interesting tables made from salvaged wood of sunken scooners - Liz photographed them for you.
Dinner was very good (fish) with enough left overs for another meal.
Temps dipped into low 40s last night. I'm waiting for a little warm up (hope anyway) to dump and get on the road to Kalamazoo for tonight. Liz will be headed east to visit friends thru the weekend and wait for CArol to join her. Leslie heading home to clean garage and finalize sale of her house.
For me it had been a wonderful month of exploring new territory with friends and learning so much about the area and Magic. Realized the other day that since mid Jan. I have driven to the FL Keys and the Canadian border - so much more than I ever dreamed I'd make when I bought Magic.
The only major handicap in life is a bad attitude!

Sarah wow you sure did it!! I am also so glad you got magic... no more staying in cabins for you!
Like Lizzs lounge! Say hello to Kalamazoo for me... have spent more time in my life there than any place else... lived there as a child, moved back when we had children, raised kids there, had my adult foster care home there, wow many memories there; some good some not so good... Kalamazoo is one of the prettiest places to be...

Okay, Sarah< did you figure out what you trip home is going to look like? Through Indiana? It is finally cooling off down here today and will feel like all, but of course Stuart will expect more excursions. :)

So glad that you all continued to have fun. And the really good news is now that you have all the experiences under your belt, you know that there can be more! Just need to go our and find them! :)

Sarah, you are definitely a pro now. Not only did you get your first s'more on this trip, you also learned to boondock and use your CPAP machine too, survived a few cool nights and day, the Mackinac Bridge and everything in between. Kuddos to you.

I'm glad I was able to get in another visit with all of you before you left MI. Now I feel In my heart that I have some good friends in other states and the road as well.

God Speed and safe travels to all of you as you journey homeward.

We didn't come here because of the name, but did get a laugh.

Here are some of the tables made from wood from ships that sank nearby in the 1880s.

We almost forgot to take a picture of the food, but Sarah had a few bites left of her crab-stuffed salmon.
