All of you - I'm in awe. Honest! I've pared in the past, but never all at once to a MH. It's likely it's in my future -- seriously considering full-timing -- but I will have had the advantage of sorting/selling/tossing/keeping from a 3300-sq ft home to a 1000-sq ft apartment. Plus, the emotional ties to the sticks and bricks place aren't here that all of you are having to sort through.

Here's the thing, though: you don't have to sort through the memories and the good feelings. They get to go with you, no matter how much room they take in your heart and head and no matter how small your RV. Keep at it for the end goal, which is really a beginning!

Echo, Redwahine lifted a quote from my post.

The original post was my fear talking. The freedom always sounds so great in the abstract, but the fear is creeping in for me. I am having lots of mixed feelings, and that's all fine with me. If I only have ONE feeling I usually assume I'm in denial.  But it doesn't mean I won't go forward. I am just allowing and admitting my feelings.

We have ironed out almost all of the wrinkles in the home sale. Closing is almost assured.

Life is good.

PS: And Ellen, you DO have a way with words. I was uplifted. Thanks!

Ellen, I have felt from the beginning that you will be fun to meet at a gtg someday. You are so right about the ample space in our hearts for the really important things.
Just a note of reality; As I cull out my keep, consign, and give away piles of clothes I am asking myself why oh why did I have to console myself with clothes while in the throes of divorce..my advice; if you are considering downsizing start today getting rid of stuff you are sure you will never need. If you have to think about it it should go into the sell or give away boxes. I feel each day as though I am drowning but I am steadfastly taking a bite out of this overwhelming project each day and one day, hopefully soon, I will look around and know I am ready to call in a dealer to take away and find good homes for it.

Aw, shucks, guys!

Nancy - Wonderful advice! My apartment was oh, so orderly and uncluttered when I first moved in. Now I have to keep reminding myself, "Nothing new unless you're willing to move something out. There just isn't space." I think you're right - better to start now so I can go at a more leisurely pace.

I had to go pull and tug a little to bring this thread back. Janice's deal is DONE...what a beautiful word. I worked hard, very hard in my office yesterday, not office work but sorting throwing away, etc. I am paying a little today. I need to do statements for the business and do a little catching up at my desk anyway so I need this change of mental and physical energy. We started getting rain last night and it is still coming down in a wonderful slow kind, just what we need so badly. I'm sorry to report this to the ones still waiting for their break. I stepped out and it is so wonderfully cool. The first thing when all dries is major mowing and weedeating. I still don't have the hang of my weedeater, can't get it to release string but I will stop and spend some time in the book and find what I'm doing wrong. I helped Tony set the post for the electric meter last night before dark. He said he has about a half day's work then we can bring Lady Bird up to the pad.I can then call them to bring my storage building. This is going to be such a relief, making the transition. I can wake up to things all in their place, walk down to the house and put in my day's work, then come back to my little home on wheels. If I wasn't so darn tired I would be getting excited. I sure am feeling my age. Actually I feel my age 15 years from now. Maybe my new life style will give me a new lease..that's what I'm counting on.

have to add my 2 cents about the house thing,,, builder beige,,, isn't that what they call it on HGTV?

and those stupid kids,,(mostly) that are looking at homes and don't even wanna LOOK at a house unless it has granite counters and stainless appliances! Those are gonna be so dated one of these days. I always thought they looked commercial! ,, but what do I know? perhaps all my taste is in my mouth!

anyway.....i watch house hunters and HH international for the laughs. International,, truthfully,, for the aspect of seeing how ppl live in other countries. That's fun to me.

One of these days I will be where you girls are,, w/ the house thing. RIght now,, I have to sneak things in the trash when mama is not looking,,, mostly trash that she and daddy have accumulated over the years. Old styrofoam cups... he had oddles of them,,, and those plastic ice cream buckets.... and folgers coffee containers,, the plastic ones!!! Glad I got that done. Mama has old flowerdy throw pillows that are dirty,, and ,,, i could go on and on. I forsee having several more years to do that,, and yet,, I tell Roy,, it could happen next week! With a 90 yr old,,, God only knows! so i press on and try to enjoy the days with her as she perseveres. (sp?)

God bless you all!

Holycow, Travelinana, my deal is not DONE until Thursday. So you need to walk around the house three times backwards to break the jinx!!  Wea don't want to invoke the wrath of the thing up on the place.

I'm taking four days off from my camp-hosting job this week. The movers come Wednesday and we close Thursday. We'll only be moving furniture from the house -- and from the first, smaller storage unit to the larger one. Then I need to get the house clean. Before all that will be another dump run, another trip to donate stuff, and then the dreaded task -- cleaning the garage (which has been a favorite of local rodents). So that will be a slow, careful job.

We will pop the root beer cork Thursday night.

Oh so sorry, don't want to do anything that would kill the deal..also sorry but I've already fallen twice during this ordeal and walking backward through all this disarray is just to big a risk...As soon as you give the go ahead I will raise my glass.
