Soos…I sure will be ready to do some camping in Florida this fall/winter… and anyone else..please let me know about any camping or GTG you want to do…Soos I see you are going to be in Winchester I will be also but about a month before you..my daughter lives about 2 mile where you get off I-81 ..by the Appleblossom mall… down a little ways off of 522 so. in Winchester…I also see you are going to go on I-95…I found that highway most stressful…so I found another way going south…even tho it is better for me to go I-95 along the coast since I am headed to Melbourne…if you want to know how I go PM me…much much less stressful way…

I learned years ago to take I81 thru the Shenandoah Valley. I love that scenic trip and if it adds a few miles to my N-S route from FL to NY, that is okay.

Agree - and I also avoid 95, and most interstates when I can - the extra miles add years to my life from the stress the interstates give me.

I am planning to take Skyline Drive and the Blueridge Parkway, but I-81 will be my alternative.

Freeways always seem to be rougher than the back roads!

Take I-81 to Skyline and Blue Ridge - you can't go wrong!

I took Skyline and Blue Ridge last trip. Beautiful. Alas I make my trips so long because I stop frequently to look at vistas and take photos.

Isn't that a main reason we do this? I hate when I have to hurry.

I'm hoping to go down part of the Blue Ridge on my way to Florida. I love it up there! It will be the first time towing on it though...

I used to take I 81 south all the way to route 26 to 77 or route 77 to 26, whichever I can't remember the order without a map, and then over to 95 for the rest of the trip. That was before I was hauling this trailer, and was just tenting along the way. Not sure about campgrounds over that way any more, although I could certainly search and find out. 95 is stressful, but I know where the campgrounds and stops are over that way now. Also, there are hills to climb and go down over on 81 that 95 doesn't have. Also a ton of deer on that 81 road. I will have to contemplate about my route this year, but wish I were having company to try out the old way once again, should I decide on that. The stress of the trip never seems to lessen as each year passes, although it was wonderful having a companion last year when I took off. Too bad it wasn't fun for her, apparently.
Still time to think about it.

Happy travels!
