change in schedule

Postby Bethers » Wed Sep 04, 2013 1:29 pm

Last week I received a call from Amazon asking if I might be interested in a proposition for a different position. Turns out I am and accepted. It means I'll be working in California instead of Nevada in a brand spanking new facility (not even open yet). It's a pilot program and I'll head to one facility near la first for training, then to the new one near San Francisco to work, where part of my job will be to do training.

Someone within Amazon recommended me and I'm excited about it. The down side is that I have to start at the same time the west coast gtg starts so am having to cancel that.

More of the plus side, much better weather.

Ok, have been sitting and not driving for to long already. Hope to be back in the lower 48 this weekend some time.

OF COURSE YOU'RE COMING TO LOS ANGELES!!! Everyone comes to Socal when I'm not there!! What's with that, anyway????? SF is quite a ways away, Nevada was closer, darn it!!

Beth, where near San Francisco is the Amazon facility? Have heard there will be a couple new Amazons started in the East Bay somewhere maybe near Patterson or Tracy. Where will your RV park be located? I'm not familiar with many in the whole Bay Area or East Bay areas. There is limited (and way too expensive) housing in the Bay Area so things are rapidly moving east.

Hey Beth!

I hope you'll let me know where you'll be. If there's no camping available let me know. I've got an extra bedroom & bathroom that has your name on it if you need it. And Peaches would even have a backyard -- and a big, yellow friend (plus 2 kitties) to keep her company!

Beth, I'm curious. How many seasons have you worked for Amazon? If that's too personal, just ignore the question. Which I don't have to tell you, because that's exactly what you would do. I love the SF Bay Area. It was home for much of my life. Sure hope you enjoy it if you haven't already spent an extended stay there.

Congrats on the new position Beth! Between the permanent job in AK, & now Amazon recommending you for new positions, sounds like your doing awesome on the RV lifestyle and not going (too ?) broke.

I'll be in Tracy.

I worked two seasons for them. This year would have been my third season, but at a different facility (Fernley). I don't know who recommended me for this, but am looking forward to it. Fernley would have been cold. And this is more responsibility. H'm, is that good?

Sharon, when do you get back to California? And well find a way to get together.

Thanks for the offers, but Amazon picks up my camping. I have two choices in Tracy. Well one right in Tracy, the other a bit away. Plan to reserve at the one right there when I'm back in the lower 48 and have phone again. The one I'll stay at has less advantages, but is actually in walking distance.

Want to drive a bit more today, so best get off.

Beth - I didn't know the Amazon facilities in the East Bay areas are already up and running. I am up in that area often - daughter lives aprx. 1/2 hour away from Tracy. Hope to see you later this year. Take care and have a wonderful/safe drive into California!!

They aren't up and running yet! Will be soon, though.

(And I didn't make it an hour down the road. Peaches wanted to walk; I wanted food - and I can have internet. Getting up early (yeah, uhuh, lol - but have good intentions) and putting lots of miles on tomorrow!)

Congrats Beth on the offer! Should be nice weather around those parts. Will they be offering seasonal work at that facility? Amazon just opened a new facility in nearby San Antonio. Safe travels.....

My work there will be seasonal. But I have no clue if they will be offering seasonal there beyond what this is (and there are very few of us - this is a test program). I'm sure they will have LOCAL seasonal work - I don't know of any Amazon warehouses that don't have that - but rv seasonal - don't know. Probably will know a lot more after I'm there!
