Hi - My Name is Sunny

Come on in and say hello.

Hi - My Name is Sunny

Postby Sunnyphillips » Mon Sep 02, 2013 9:55 pm

Hi - I have been a fulltimer (solo) for 5 years; this last time for 2 years. My home state is Florida - north Florida and am a 5th generation Floridian. I travel and volunteer with USFWS, leading bird walks, kayak trips and work in a visitor's center - whatever they need me to do except trail maintenance and cleaning restrooms. Been there, done that when I cleaned my own house and cleared weeds from around horse and cow pasture fences!

My RV is a 37' National 1999 Tradewinds and my roomies are two felines. Currently (for 3 more days), I am on the Oregon coast and have been here all summer. Beautiful! Since avoidance of cold and hot weather is my goal, I spend the winters in the south and summers in the north. My next gig is at Bosque del Apache, NM late October - early March when I head back east for the summer and winter of 2014. Don't know where the tradewinds will take me in 2015!

A co-fulltimer told me about your forum and suggested that I join. Hope I am worthy!

Hi Sunny, welcome to the forum. Lots of great people here.

Check out the get together page. We're having one starting around September 21 at William Tugman State Park in Lakeside (just south of Reedsport) with about 14 people. Maybe you could delay your departure from the area a few more weeks and join us!

Again, welcome to the forum!

Welcome Sunny! I have been in NM all summer and recently visited the Bosque, although the best time will be when you are there. The "beware of mountain lions" sign freaked me a little. :o

When you get a day off, drive south about an hour to Riverbend Hot Springs and soak in the mineral hot springs. So wonderful. I will be exploring northern NM in late Sept and Oct. PM me for a mini GTG.

Welcome aboard. I heard a couple speak at one of Nick Russell's rallies a few years back about the volunteer opportunities at the Wildlife refuges........if a wanted a volunteer for site sort of gig that would definitely be the way to go. She got to help with bird banding and some pretty interesting stuff. She mentioned that so much depends on who else might be there at the same time and what sort of research they might be doing. I am guessing that you learn a lot even while "teaching" and "guiding."
