Spoiled by Amazon

Postby Cudedog » Sat Aug 31, 2013 10:18 am

I recently was looking for a rechargeable camping lantern, and several forum members were kind enough to point me at the Coleman (thanks!).

Being somewhat "fiscally impaired" (aka "cheap") I am always looking for the best deal. Wally World was out of these lanterns, Amazon price was a lot higher than elsewhere, so I ordered it online from Target.com. The ordering information said it would be here in 4 - 5 days. So I ordered the thing on August 21, with delivery to be at my place of employment (which is fine with the boss).

It is still not here. :(

In checking the tracking information (ain't tracking grand?) it shows that the order was placed on August 22 (not the actual order date of August 21) and it was not actually shipped out until five days later, on August 27!

The tracking information as of yesterday shows that "at sender request" (!) the "shipment has been diverted to the local post office for delivery" (!). The "local post office" name listed on the tracking information is NOT my actual local post office, but the post office of a nearby city!!

It has now been ten days since the order, and it still isn't here. I will need to wait until Tuesday (after the holiday!) to drive to this nearby city to maybe (or maybe not!) retrieve my item.

GAH!!!

I will **NEVER, EVER** order another item from Target.com.

I have been ordering stuff from Amazon for years, and my stuff always arrives on time, often a day or two earlier than the promised arrival date.

I also like Wally World's "from site to store" shipping, so often order stuff that way from them. Don't like to have stuff delivered to my home because the carriers just seem to leave it on my front porch when I am not there, always a dicey situation. So I either have it delivered to my work, or pick it up at Wally's.

Amazon has me spoiled. And I think that Wally has finally woken up and taken a page from Amazon's book.

GO Amazon!!

Finished venting now. :D

I've had several things that I ordered, sent to the post office. Then it is delivered by the mail lady to my home. Your package will probably be sent to the nearby city's post office, then to your local post office, then to your office. Maybe you'll be surprised and get it for a Christmas present!

Wow, and I had an unexpected positive order experience from Target. Ordered a slow cooker using a Target gift card with free shipping to my hope. Could not believe it when the box showed up two days later delivered to my doorstep in perfect condition. I was surprised then by the quick delivery, but even more now after reading about your experience.

I order lots of things from Amazon and Walmart and always get it on time or sooner. I love Site to Store with Walmart and now I see you can get it sent to a FedEx location to pick up for free. And since the closest Walmart is 20 miles away from me, now I can just pick stuff up closer (and probably save a lot of money by not being tempted while walking thru the actual Walmart store! )
I rarely buy anything from Target anymore.
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)
