Summer is obviously over up here. It's judged by the fireweed. The flowers grow from the bottom up - when the bloom reaches the top, the flowers die - and that's the sign of the end of summer. Have been watching them all reach the top the past week - and yesterday and today saw fields of them with no blooms left at all. Summer up here is short.
