Wednesday back home

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Wednesday back home

Postby carolb » Wed Aug 28, 2013 7:11 am

Good morning all :D

I returned home from my midwest trip yesterday--y'all know the drill of "clean-up" after a trip  Sorry you didn't make it to Lori's, Donna--we had a great visit! I can report first-hand that Lori looks GREAT for all the worry, stress, surgery & tests she's been through these past few months! :P Ernie was in fine form too!

Others or your loved ones with med issues, prayers go out to you. Always a reminder to treasure the moments we have, & thankful to enjoy life on the road! Can't believe it's time for many of you to start heading south! Where did the summer go????

Today I'll continue cleaning my HarBor so he'll be ready for the next road trip. Also do the fine-tuning of the yard. Maters are coming on strong, so bro & I will probably do our first canning this weekend. I'm happy to report that we don't have near the number of maters we had last year, so that's a relief!

Y'all have a great day & safe travels always! 8-)

Another quiet day here in the wilds of Arkansas. Boy Chick went back to work today, but only for a week as this is the month they switch the on/off schedules so the holiday ons are different. He couldn't remember if he gets another 2 weeks off or 1 week before the new schedule kicks in. DIL and I are getting haircuts today and lunch out at the Thai restauant. This Saturday is a carnaval at the Catholic church with bingo and games. And one day we're going in to Ft. Smith to the big Walmart. The one here in town (actually there are 2 in this area, 1 in Paris, 1 in Magazine both about the size of a convenience store and we're in between them milage wise) doesn't have much. And I'm not crazy about the one in Clarksville. I made a new chicken recipe last nite and it was a big hit. Lots of exciting things going on around here!

Irmi, prayers going up for your brother....Lori, you're sounding like your old self again, so glad!! And tell the vamps to back off! LOL! And Mitch....damn those docs for making you wait a week for results!

The UP girls are having fun, wish I was with them, but enjoying my family right now. Maybe next time. Carolb back home again...

Have a great day today and those on the road...keep the shiny side up!

Good Morning Carolb and all... oh send some of those fresh maters my way... brings back fond memories of eating them right in the garden!! I could make a meal out of a jar of tomatoes with nothing else... try to eat a can of store bought tomatoes and they are not the same...

Talked to my son this morning he is doing very good... he gets tired but after all he is suppose to take it easy for a week...

The heat is still on here in Illinois... now that things have leveled out here Shadow and I just may take a road trip or maybe just go to the county park... of course after Labor Day!

My neighbor met a man on the internet get this 2 yes 2 weeks ago and she is heading to TN to get married... yikes that is so scary... sure hope she will be ok...

Shadow and I will take a short walk in a bit... not much else to say...

I hope she has at least met him in person before and had a background check on him. Makes me think of the books I've read about Mail Order Brides, now that would be terrifying!!

Mitch you asked about Toby, he's doing much better with people, but meeting another dog on a leash when we are walking doesn't go well. When it cools off, I'm going to take him to the lady who taught the obedience class we went to last spring and have some private lessons. Other than that, he minds well and is really funny, right now he is into helping the squirrels eat the pears in the back yard. I'm careful with what I feed him as I read when you were having problems with Abby that miniature poodles are prone to pancreatitis.

Carol glad you are home safe and that you don't have as many tomatoes as last year to can. Did something happen to some of the plants....
Sharon you must be resting up there in the wilds of Arkansas after all the wandering you did on the east coast.
It is hard to believe the summer is over and plans are being made by some to head to Florida soon. I hope everyone has a fun day, and those on the road, safe travels.

Morning Ladies,

Carolb, glad you got back home safely. Sorry I couldn't see you when you were in MI, but hopefully down the road someday. Looks like you are going to be busy with the "maters" again. I remember when mom used to do that. House smelled so good with all the spices.

Irmi and Kathleen, prayers going out to your brother and son. Looks like you have a cancer gene in your family Irmi, like I do in mine. Grandmothers, aunt, uncle and mom all had it in various forms.

I sure wish I was up in the U.P. with the gals. As is, I just might be able to catch them someplace along the line in another week. Things are starting to look a little brighter here now that I have had chance to analyze the situation. Dentist appt. for the 26th of next month was moved up to the 5th, which means I can get that bill out of my way. Then my schedule is free till the 17th. Also cancelled the new glasses I got from the first eye doc I saw. I'm just not doing that well with them. Wanted to wait till I saw the Petoskey doc first before even getting a new pair, but the first doc wanted to fit me with some and said they can either be cancelled or change later. Think she was looking for a sale there. But will be getting my deposit back from that pair, so now can go back to the Petoskey doc and get fitted with new ones. They have a regular optical shop there and a lot better selection of glasses plus a optician who does nothing but fittings etc. Will do that tomorrow and get that ball rolling.

Going to be another hot humid day here, so am heading south to visit a friend for the afternoon. She had back surgery a couple oweeks ago. Doing great she said. But we did get some rain yesterday, so that was welcome. Severe storm about 50 miles south cause damage with lightening strikes. One house damaged when pole barn was hit and destroyed by fire, another damaged when pine tree in yard was hit and burned side of house. And the Arts and Crafts store that I go to occasionally down that way had a bolt blow a hole through the roof and damaged some of the computer equip but no merchandise. So looked like it was a one wild storm.

Off to make some lunch here. Tuna fish for both me and Sassy and then am heading out. Have a wonderful afternoon all.

Good Morning. Weather here is GREAT. 80's, the high 80's today but should cool down a bit the next week. It feels like fall here and I love it. I am not a fan of super hot weather. Good thing we don't suffer from much humidity here tho so that is a help. Smoke is pretty well cleared out here as they seem to have a better handle on all the fires. Not so lucky down in Yosemite.

Had a fellow out here last evening to measure for my new patio. I am putting down some outdoor tiles and get rid of my UGLY indoor outdoor carpeting. Will cost a bit more but I think I will like it. I need to go to Home Depot and Lowes to see what kind of tile I want. Yup I am going exercising.....my VISA card.

What a risky chance your friend is taking Kathleen......Mitch is right you cannot fix stupid. Heck I dont want a background check on someone I want to know their FICO score LOL

You have that right Mitch... STUPID cannot be fixed... no she has never met him face to face... she wants to be married in the worse way... she has jumped from one relationship to another not in person but on the internet for maybe 2 to 3 years...
well I will keep you all informed as this plays out...
I am truly afraid for her...
There is a very nice gentleman just two mobile homes from hers... he is such a nice person... he must be 75 or 80... does everything for himself... but she is not interested in him... oh well life goes on and on...

Kathleen, if your neighbor has family I hope they know what she is planning. It should be as hard to get into a marriage as it is to get out.

Not much going on here. I still want to go to town. My DH said I could take the truck. He is parking it facing down the hill so if it doesn't start it can be towed. Um, NO I'm not going to town in the truck. Wish the ford place would fix my son's truck. My youngest should have gone to school to be a diesel mechanic but he is about as mechanical minded as my DH.

Hard to believe summer is almost over. It hasn't been as hot as usual. I only remember a couple of day that hit 103. And we haven't had a tropical storm or hurricane to worry about yet. The season isn't over. Hurricane Ike hit Sept 13 and Rita hit Sept 24.

Still morning here in Alaska, but late and I'm just finally crawling out of bed. Felt so good to sleep in. Peaches is patiently waiting for her walk. And I have lots to do. Working again Friday and Saturday, then the season is over. Intentions are to hit the road Monday morning.

I was thinking the same thing!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)
