Anne, so glad you will be joining us. This will also be a good opportunity to ask questions.....we all have lots of answers and experiences. Actually there will be a wealth of information exchanged as usual. We will all be happy to help get you set up and running. We actually spend most of our time outside just chatting and telling stories on ourselves hee hee Some are pretty darn funny too. I am looking forward to meeting all the new faces and seeing the friends I have had the pleasure to meet along the way.

You got me to thinking. I hadn't at all considered the need for a heater of some kind. Duh.

I don't like to freeze much more than I like to bake. And, with electric available - who do either? When you said a ceramic cube heater I went looking for one (Google), but there are many kinds. Do you (or anyone) have a recommendation?

I did find this. I have used this kind in my home (the larger type) and they work pretty well. I think it might be good for my van because. . . the van is (relatively) small without a lot of available floor space, and these kinds of heaters don't get really hot - but they do warm things up pretty nicely:

Hey Anne, I have a van too with
very small space to warm and find the
smallest size electric fan type heater
from Walmart is more than enough to take
chill off. With all due respect to full timers
and those with bigger rigs, no way would
I give up presious space for a bigger heater.

Anne, I have a similar radiator filled sort of heater that runs on electric but I also have a 22 ft Class C with just a bit more room than you have.....I used the smallest cube heaters for years with toasty results. I started carrying the slightly larger one after I got it for Christmas to use in my "office" area at home. I liked that it radiated heat evenly and I didn't have to listen to the sound of a fan..... It takes up more room but I give it the space in front of my kitchen area which is slightly out of the traffic lane....

Decisions, decisions.....options and more options....but with small rigs and electric it is not difficult to stay warm.

I bought a small electric heater for my 16 ft. trailer. Have had it for over 3 years and it works great. It sits on my dinette table and has different settings for heat and fan. It is a Holmes Swirl Grill Power Heater. I got it on Amazon.

Make sure you keep a window or vent open a little for ventilation. You don't want to wake up dead from carbon monoxide poisoning.

Two comments - it's not electric And I just searched and did find one that says it can be used inside, but don't know if I'd feel safe with it. You're recommending it? I'd have to compare costs, but would guess using the rv's gas heater wouldn't cost as much as replacing those propane bottles?

I use one of the electric ceramic heaters similar to this. Mine has a temperature selection and so it kicks off an on.
I would be afraid of using a propane heater inside.

I was wondering how long it would take for the responses to begin coming...I realized what I had written and begin to laugh last night thinking about it. Of course it is NOT electric! It throws out a nice amount of heat and I always have a window open when camping no matter the weather. The low setting is fine for my "cosy camper".

I have one of these Buddy Heaters that is safe to use inside or outside. I bought it to use in our first tt when we were headed to CO, since we didn't have a geny. Unfortunately, that was the trip where we had to turn around and come back to a flooded house so I've never used it. My nephew has used it in his hunting blind several times and has the same model.

Beth, I put it on the forum for information only. I use it and love it, but others seem to be cautious about using propane indoors.

My "cosy camper" has only a 5 gal propane tank. When I filled it at Mammoth Lakes this summer, propane cost over $4 /gal. The storage lot at a KOA where I keep the truck/camper charges $3.25/gal. Wal-Mart charges $2.685/gal if you buy 2 one gal bottles. (I also carry a propane bar-b-que)

Now I have to time how long one gal bottle will last in the heater, and figure out how to compare it to the furnace in the camper. And I will begin looking for less expensive propane.

I have also gone from a full-timer to a week-ender. This trip to Oregon will be my longest in the "cosy camper". I'll be "on the road" for seven weeks!!! Woopee!!! lyn

I have a Buddy heater that I used when my furnace at home quit. I think it lasted about 6 hours on the low setting.

California must not allow them? Why does that not surprise me.

I wouldn't be afraid of them, but if the 6 hours is true, don't think it would be for me.

And threads around here get hi-jacked all the time. Probably could figure out a way to separate this - but not going to try. We'll get it back on track, maybe, at some point.
