Catch Up Saturday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Catch Up Saturday

Postby Colliemom » Sat Aug 10, 2013 6:50 am

Morning all,

Guess I had better get the coffee going this morning. I think all the regulars are either in bed yet or on the road to MI or wherever they are going. Lori of course is one happy camper and recuperating now, so is probably asleep too.

Sunny morning here this morning and as my post states, it's catch up day here today. Run the vac, pay a blll and then get outside and work in the yard. Finish cutting my front grass and do some weeding and weed whipping. TT needs a bath as does the Flex. So will be puttering around in a bunch of different directions.

And I know there is going to b one happy reunion down in IL today, as Kathleen will be waiting for her furry companion to come home again. I'm sure we will hear the barks of joy wherever we are.

Otherwise nothing new here, so will let some others chime in and tell about their day. Those of you who are on the road and heading for MI, drive safe.

Good morning, it's a beautiful morning here with a Saints victory last night. I'll be working in the yard as well and going to get those sway bars out so I can practice finding that "sweet" spot. When the temps start dropping more, I'm getting Pluto out on the road.

Good morning Sue and all those to follow. Hallelujah that all Lori's tests came back negative and she is on the mend :P

Last week was great. We got home on Monday. Then I got to spend time with Birdie. My daughter arrived home from Korea, but she had gone up to Kileen to visit friends. She came back Tuesday. :P Now Birdie left and headed to various places and daughter leaves middle next week. It will be quiet and lonely then. But until then, I'm enjoying hanging with my daughter. Then I will keep myself busy with RED. Need to unload, clean, adjust, load and get ready for next trip :P

Have a great day and stay safe. Aloha y'all

Good Morning... coffee is very good and I'll fix a cup of tea for Sue...
I got up at 6 put laundry in... Oh yes today is the day! I do not know how long it takes to get here from Toledo but too soon is better...
Life has changed so much in these few weeks... I have found that it is not good to let your children make too many decisions for you... you need to think things through and if needed ask someone's opinion... but use your own head... I was on a roller coaster precipitated by two of my children... my daughter has been working on me to go to a senior apartment for maybe 3 years... it is back in my hands now... I have lost the help she was giving me...
I am so surprised that I can only work 10 to 15 minutes at a time cleaning the horrid shed... but it will get done sometime before fall... I have asked my grandson Tim if he will fix the soffits... they are completely rotted... birds get in and build their nests...
Red I guess I missed your daughter coming home... will she go back to teach this fall? how did she like it...
I bet Soos is on the downside after the Ruckus... Lori you are still in my prayers as you heal...
Have a safe day everyone

Good morning Sue, Red, Kathleen & all who follow,

I finally have a few minutes for morning coffee. :D Weather here is beautiful - cool for August with high humidity but I'll take it over the typical heat & humidity.

I chime in my hoorays too for the good news on Lori's test.
I can't wait to see more pics of the ruckus (they might be out there, but I haven't checked yet).
Janet, I love your BF - can't wait to see inside pics of it too - sounds like you found a treasure. :)
Sue, I hope the issue with your Flex & TT is easily solved - so with we could meet you at a GTG someday...
Red, enjoy the time with your DD - so glad she's come home for a visit.
Kathleen, we might need to consult with others, but yes, we are very capable of making our own decisions - our kids have our best interests at heart, but they are not us.

My oldest daughter & 2 granddaughters are here from Dallas. Lots of activity - trying to make sure we have all the favorite meals, friends & gatherings before they leave on Monday. Its always exhausting but in a good way.

And then.... drumroll, please.... I leave on Saturday for my great adventure to the NW. For the most part, I'm taking i-29 >> i-90 >> i-5. I've taken notes from JudyB on what she's come across & will finalize route this week. (I need to arrive by Thursday to pick up my sisters at Bellingham airport Friday morning - :D ) Also have to look at route down from WA to LA & SD - i-5 looks the 'safest' but would love to see the coast as long as I'm not slowing down the logging trucks on narrow roads. (101) I look at google earth so much, I'll probably recognize these routes when I actually drive them.

Well, better get moving before everyone is up...
Stay safe & cool...

good morning ladies :D ahhhhh, its finally Saturday, what a long short week it was with back to school duties. Left me with little time
to do any real posting other than a comment here and there. First school day back consisted of double take in and take out of high school
and early release for kindergarten as well. Who in their right mind ever thought that was a good idea? Then early release for kindergarten
the rest of the week. The traffic around the schools was absolutely incredible and ludicrous as the schools around here are built with
one way in and one way out. What a nightmare. It all actually made me feel "old" as in having a difficult time NOT being annoyed by
the inconvenience of it all. :? Monday will be a regular schedule for everyone so hope to see a difference and see things come
together. Sooooo,,,,,,,,,for the weekend I'm just going to chilax <----new word :D
So glad for Lori to have fantastic news, and Tina, the puppies are too adorable, Sue, what a shame the flex has a hard time hauling
the little trailer. Can you exchange the lease for a different vehicle?
I'm birdsitting for awhile, one of sons friends is in between apts so her little parakeet "George" is visitng as he can't stay with his family
for now. Remembering all the duties I went through when I had lots of birds years ago. George spends his time charming himself in front
of his mirror talking to his mate. Also have their little betta in a nice fishbowl, so having a few "extra" duties to deal with now but its all
good and I don't mind.
Heard from my friend in Colorado, she is doing well, so she says but will call the relatives and verify cause they won't lie. But she is very
thankful to me for all I did and got her on the medicaid. Although it was all a total nightmare, I have no regrets.
About time to get my laundry started and then clean out my car. Seems it became my "office" all week and lots of accumulated "stuff"
in there.
Ya'll have a great day and be safe.

Gonna be hot today, but there's a nice cool breeze right now, so I'm enjoying the heck out of it! Drove down to Hatteras yesterday, not much to see except when you cross a bridge, otherwise it's just sand dunes. Can't see the water from the road. That was kind of a disappointment. Checked out a cg, dry camping, which isn't a problem, but backing into the sites might be. Narrow sites, narrow road with posts on the road. Guess it's been there for a while...before the rv's got bigger. I'm not a big beach person and since you can't see the water from the cg don't see me going there. We did check out a couple of other cg's that we liked...nice sites and good water access for the kayaks. I really like this area but would like to stay closer to the Outer Banks if I come back.

Ohh Kath, can't wait until you get your Shadow back!

Hope everyone has a great and wonderful day!

I'm watching the weather trying to see if we are going to have any rain this morning. I need to get going and meet Carolyn at the state park. There is rain just offshore but it looks like it's moving West. Around here we usually have afternoon showers that pop up. I finally made it to Walmart yesterday about 4:00 and the sky was black to the East. I was afraid it would storm and I would get caught at Walmart but just made it out before the rain. I don't know if our store ever got generators but in the past if they lost power they made everyone leave their baskets and leave the store. That's a pain in the behind.

Ava, I never thought of my van as my office but that is a very good description of it. Most of the mail ends up in my van because I pick up the mail when I pass the mail box on the road and we have a box at the post office in town. I have always had bank and credit card stuff go to the P O box. I don't like that kind of thing hanging our by the road where just anyone could pick it up. When I'm gone my DH seldom remembers to pickup the mail. When the box gets full the mail lady will tell him.

I hope Carolyn brings her camera. I can't figure out how to get pictures off my son's camera and I can't find my other one.

Kathleen, I'm so happy that Shadow is coming home today! You're absolutely right -- only you can know what is best for you.

Wonderful news about Lori's test results, too. This has been a good week all around. I'll bet next week will be better for you, though, Ava! I always hated the ridiculous schedules on the first week of school. Red, I'll bet you and your daughter have great stories to exchange. :D

Sister #2 had a good time yesterday shopping with her daughter for daughter's interview suit. The only strange thing is that one was in China and the other in Michigan. They skyped, computer and phone. Ah, technology -- how I love it!

Martha

my laptop has a little slot that fits the memory card. Since I am very good at putting the cord in a safe place
I just take the memory card out of my camera and put it in the computer. It copies the pictures :D

Hello everyone!

I was going to post about my life, but right now, Kathleen's life takes precedence and I want her to know that I have been, and will be, sending lots of prayers her way. Kathleen, have Hilda over for brownies or cookies, which you bake so well, so she can visit with Shadow. Do this several times a year so they can stay in touch. But I'm so glad your life is falling back into place. Kudos to you.

Catherine, take the scenic route!! You don't want to miss the drive along the ocean. And with your van, it won't be any big deal driving that route.

Kathleen, as much as Hilda will miss Shadow, I am sure she understands how much more you miss him and want him back now that you are able to keep him with you. You didn't make a mistake. You made the best decision for Shadow based on your circumstances, and those circumstances have now changed.

A gorgeous day here in Minnesota! What I call a "San Diego day". 75, dry, and sunny!

Also very happy for Lori! Hoping for a quick recovery!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)
