Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!! im so aggravated w/ the fridge in Beatrice. !!! Is it suppose to have a hard time getting really cool in the heat? I admit that she's parked in the sun about half the day,,, the morning half. And it's been hot as hell here,, too.. although it was a little cooler today,, only 100, I think,,, yes I said 100!!!! Now you all know why I wanna leave this state about the end of may next yr and have been wanting to for decades! This year I got a late start but we ARE on our way,,,,, just got a lot to get ready b4 we can get under way! !! !

anyway,, wanted to vent and hear your ideas about the fridge....

thanks, in advance,,, please advise!

oh,, and yes, it's perfectly level and it's been on since last night about9.... I forgot and turned off the propane before we left Kerrville,, so it was w/o power for at least 2 or 3 hrs... duhhhhhhhhhhhhh me!!!

Is the refrigerator on the afternoon sun side? I had trouble in Arizona last September until I learned I had to be more selective about camping sites. Now I choose one, if I can, so that the sun in the heat of the afternoon is on the opposite side.

..
The fridge in my little trailer has a "fin" in the top rear, on the coils, that you slide up and down to adjust the temp.
Might yours have something similar?

Your fridge probably didn't even get a chance to get to temp when it was off for that couple hours. That's making it work really hard in very warm temps to get down to where you need it to be. AND the hot sun beating on it will make it more difficult. I've never had to move to adjust for that, but I'd give it another day knowing it's on the full time before you'll know whether it's getting to temp.

RV refrigerators can take up to 24 hours to get cold. I recommend getting one of the little refrigerator thermometers they sell at Walmart or Bed Bath and Beyond. Then you know if it's cooling at all and if you need to worry about your food. Try to put things that are already cold in there and frozen things in the freezer. I always travel with an ice chest that I can use as a seat. When we are on the road I put drinks in the ice chest with ice so we aren't opening the refrigerator a lot.

are you able to use either electricity or propane? which do you have it on...we found that some times it cools faster when on propane get it to temp and then turn to electricity ...also do you have a thermometer? if you do take it to something else that is the right temp and see if it's registering right might need to recalibrate it...don't know how it is done but can be done...I've gotten so that when I defrost the stupid thing (hate defrosting it) I put the perishables in a cooler turn off the freg and let it sit don't use anything to make it hurry or heat up more than it has to then turn it on and let it sit over night it may be down to the right temp by morning...it does take a long time to get to the right temps...so patience is needed here...

Oh, speaking of that little vane that slides up and down, I was having problems with my refrigerator keeping things cold and I had that vane as far as it would go toward cold.

Then I discovered that there was a little tube that was supposed to be connected to the bottom of that slider vane, and it was just hanging there. Once I hooked it up properly, my refrigerator worked like a charm! :D

thanks you all. I went out this morning and was happy to find the freezer was 19 and the bottom fridge part was 38. that , I guess is about the best it will do. I guess that will keep food fine as can be expected.

thanks for all the advice. I sure do appreciate the input as you are the ones that have the experience and im the greenhorn!

love you all!

more later!
