Good morning all. After -26 yesterday morning, +6 looks pretty good today.

I'm off to school again today. My son got back to Orlando last night at 8:30----just 3 and one half hours airport to airport. In one day, he experienced -26 to +76 temperatures!

Got a lot to do here to get ready. Snowstorm warning for us beginning late tonight, so need to be sure I have enough firewood and food, too. All of you in the path of this latest storm, get yourselves hunkered down. It looks as if Shelley will be right in the middle of it, as will many others of you. Some will get ice, and some snow.

Later.....getting back to some semblance of normalcy here, I hope.

Happy travels!

Mmmmm....did someone say chocolate expresso cake? Gotta pop in here early and get some of that before it's all gone. Love the blue and yellow combination in your Tuesday gal, Barb.

A mixed bag of chores for me today. Got to work on the monthly newsletter for the Power Squadron, type up the minutes from a meeting last night, prepare for Wed. night's Bible study which I'm leading for a few weeks, empty out a room that's going to be renovated in a few days, and continue to stock the rv. Have made a reservation at Paynes Prairie State Park for Feb. 6 to test out the systems. It has elec. hookups for the frig. Made an appointment to have the propane for the frig. checked out Feb. 20 (Earliest I could get in....guess they're still busy.) Tech thinks it just may need cleaning out...hope so.

And of course I must wait with bated breath for that call from the Canadian buyer in Naples....

Happy day to all!

I've got to start getting this rig ready for moving on. It's amazing how much mess one person can make - especially when its been party party since I got here.

Good nippy morning all....it sounds like everything is going well enough with everyone.

The sky is getting light but I can not see through the iced over windows. When the sun comes up I'll open the blinds and take off the heavy covers, turn on the front fans and let the ice melt off. The internet weather says it's -22 in town but our weather station sensor reads -6. So, I don't know how cold it is and don't really care. We have snow pushed up all around the edges of the motorhome so it's somewhat insulating the rig. We are snug and warm, the furnaces running almost all the time and so does the humidifier to keep the nose from getting bad. 20% is not damp enough to keep the hair from feeling like straw but is about the best we can manage. If it were higher I'd fear the ice buildup on the window frames would be really bad. But the great news is we'll hit a +19 today with sun, will be blinding reflecting off our foot of snow. So, our stormy days are over for a few days. It won't be warm enough to really melt it. This snow will be here a while with highs no taller than the 30's.

Sunday we pushed, shoveled, & snow blowed for a while to get rid of the deepest snow in the barnyard and lane then 4 more inches fell. Hubby was enjoying it so much I had to make him get off the ATV with the blade on the front. He loves to push snow! Dad ran the snow blower and I shoveled a little. Today we'll get out and move more snow then call it good and let the sun do the rest.

I feel for the folks where the ice storm is creating a real mess. I tell ya -- I'd rather have a blizzard than an ice storm. I lived down south and got in on some of that and ...no thanks...give me a foot of snow especially powder.

We'll probably have to refill our propane tank in about another week or so but that's easy. Our "house size" tank is a blessing -- we just call for a refill and they usually get out here the next day.

Well, time to get off the computer for today...Shell

Hi everyone,.... good morning!

Yep Zeee,... I'm in full basketball mode, but only as a spectator, not shooting any hoops myself. I'll leave that to my lovely granddaughter. And,.. I was kidding you about "what's a super bowl?"... haha... of course I knew what it was. Just not my cup of tv,... I'll watch a movie that day instead. Can still have all the goodies to munch on though!

Sun is shining brightly here,... it's backing up give us a new dump of snow tomorrow. I'm hoping for a snow day off from school Snow on a Wednesday really breaks up the week nicely! haha.... :D

Goooood Morning Sishtahs!!!

UGH....It's morning. And way to early too. Oh gads I woke up an hour early before my alarm went off. Only had it set to let me sleep 8hrs. Went to bed somewhere between 11:30 and midnight, played with Shade for a few minutes, shut off the light and crashed. Boy was I really ticked off when I woke up before 7am for that potty run. Tried so hard to ignore my bladder and go back to sleep. My bladder was having none of that and started throwing a tantrum, plus Shade was going to have none of Mom going back to sleep. Did my morning routine and then sat down here to find out what all you'ins have been up to and fell asleep right on top of my coffee cup. Hands over the top of the cup and my chin resting on my hands. :? So glad my chin didn't fall off my cup and spill my coffee. Now that would have made a right mess and not to mention that it sat right in front of the keyboard of my laptop.

Barbz that little gal of yours all dressed in blue and her blond hair sure is a sweetie. But I am kinda partial to blondes!!!

Well had found a pickup I was really super interested in buying. 2000 Dodge diesel 4x4, extended cab, shortbox. Found it Saturday and test drove it. Ran good and drove great but it was actually after closing time so couldn't do nothing then. Plus I wouldn't without my David looking the truck over. So we went down yesterday morning at 9am when they open up. Got the truck again for a test drive, told them I had a diesel mechanic I wanted to look over the truck, they were agreeable. Needless to say they still own the truck and I don't. I pointed a couple things out to David and his buddy the diesel mechanic found things that would have meant I would have been putting to much money into the truck. It sure wasn't worth it. That the front seal leaked and was spraying oil into the alternator, one of the uni-hubs was going out ($400 for one and there's 4 of them) tranny fluid smelled a little burnt and he showed me where the hitch itself was worn on the bottom where whoever had used the truck to do a lot of towing but did not worry about load distribution. The hitch wasn't really that noticeable by eye, but he caught it and measured the thickness on the bottom edge and on the top. He told me he sure wouldn't want to be towing anything with out getting a new hitch. So all in all with what he found wrong, I found and David found? Like I said they still have the truck. After the purchase price I would have had to put anywhere between $3k up to $5k. Nope not me! Kids CAN come in handy once in awhile!!! LOL His buddy said he knows of a truck that someone was thinking about getting rid of. Truck is the same as what I was looking at only in way better shape, less miles and with the bigger diesel motor. Told me he would check with the guy to see if he still has it or if he's already sold it. Oh the price is better too. :) I was really up in the air about getting a truck now as I will have to do financing . But I figure we will need a truck anyway, it's gonna cost me at least $1200 to get the Blazer ready to go and buy a utility trailer. Can use that money to get a truck without paying for the thing in all cash. Plus while still here I have David and his buddy to check out any truck I find, I have a years residency along with a year of solid employment. So I will be looking around for a truck.

As soon as I get my eyeballs totally and completely open I will be doing my income taxes out. I think???? I've got something on my W2 I have never seen before. Something called "Other Cafe 125" and the amount is $629.10. Danged if I have any idea what that is?? Also my gross wage is different than my reported W2 wages and the difference is that $629.10. Need to find out what that is before I get to carried away.

Ok I haven't even been to look at my email and haven't had my comic fix yet this morning. I think will mosey over yonder and check things out.

Hope ya'll have a great day, stay safe, stay warm and if it's raining in your neck of the country stay dry too!!!

Love to all

Good morning ladies. Today is our last day in Huatabampito moving on down the road about 100 miles as crow flies - 150 miles as road goes to Las Glorias again near the beach. As far as I know there is no Internet or TV or phone there. Real roughing it. We'll see, will post if I can. Did you hear about the lady that had 8 babies in California. WOW. Leaving here about 9:30-10. A couple from Canada that we met here is going with us. I was just checking and as we cross into the next state, Sinaloa, we will be going through an agriculture inspection so have to put the apples and potatoes in the washer under dirty clothes. Then a military inspection, will have to get the Playboy magazine out on the table. One big town and 5 or 6 small towns to go through so lots of topes. Really need to watch for them - hit one at full speed and you could have some problems. Went into Navojoa and stocked up on groceries yesterday - things you can only get in big markets. So will be back when I can.

Morning all.

SoIsew - am sure you're aware, but be careful the snow doesn't block your exhaust.

Echo, glad you didn't get stuck with a lemon requiring a lot of money poured into it. Are you sure about diesel? Its higher than gas. My daughter has been wishing her truck was gas.

Jill and Tommy - Where are you? Come on, tell us how the workamping is going. What are you doing for fun in Brownsville? Inquiring minds want to know.

Carol - Playboy? Explain? Sure you don't want to lead a caravan for us?

Zeee - not sure what is harder to deal with - a herd of small critter or two big critters. I keep repeating, "I NEVER get cold at night."

Its raining here this morning so will probably just read all day. Tough life, huh?

Good Morning Everyone !!!
Nothing much going on here today - I'll probably go agate hunting again, it's so addictive !! My friend here in the CG has a rock tumbler and showed me the agates and rocks she's polished and now I "have" to have one !!! It's amazing what you can do. I think I want to stay here awhile longer just so she can teach me which rock will polish nicely and exactly how to do it.
I went through all the things I've collected and picked the "good" ones - I'll release the others back to the wild today. They're pretty, but I can't keep everything !! I've narrowed it down to agates and things that are "crystaly" - my heart shaped rocks - things I think will polish nicely and the funky ones. I have some shells too, but they don't weigh too much so I'm not that concerned about them.
Hope you all have a great day !

Oh Trudy, that sounds like fun. Just think, you can find things like that all over the country and if you get a tumbler, next thing you know you will be making jewelry.

I have logged on here half a dozen times this morning only to get interrupted! I really don't have anything earth shattering to report but I did want to say Good Morning, now it'll have to be Good Afternoon! All you ladies have got full days ahead of you except for me & Karen. Reading all day sounds good to me Karen. It is cold & gray here again. I haven't seen the sun since we came home.

I have been working on our resume. I hate doing those. I can think of good things to put down for DH, but it's hard to do for myself. I'm about halfway thru so it's a pretty good start. At least I'm not dealing with taxes. Yuck, I feel for ya Echo. I throw everything in a box and take it to the accountant.

I have a pretty serious inquiry on one of my foster pups. That is so bittersweet. I want them to go to good homes, but it does hurt when they leave. We have to start dwindling down on some naked pups if we workamp. I don't see too many places taking us with 7 dogs.  We'll get it down to 3 before we leave. Lots of time yet.

Hope you all have a great afternoon! :D

Trudy...I got my GD an inexpensive rock tumbler for Christmas and we just started our 1st round of tumbling. My advice to you, if you are going to buy a rock tumbler, is get a decent tumbler. Thumler or Lortone. They aren't anywhere near as noisy as the inexpensive one that we have. Of course, I can bury this one in the basement so I don't have to hear it, but in your "home" this would drive you nuts! The one's I mentioned here are a little over $100 each, but well worth it!

I'll let ya know how our "gems" turn out. Oh, these are ones that we "mined" for in NC this past summer.

Thanks Paulette - I did get a Lortone double barrel. The lady here has one and she keeps it in her RV basement and she says she only hears it when she's in the bathroom. I should be OK (I hope :D )
