FRIGID THURSDAY!

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

FRIGID THURSDAY!

Postby Nasoosie » Thu Jul 25, 2013 6:37 am

GOOD MORNING ALL!

Saranac Lake (and Vermontville, where I am) is once again the coldest spot in the nation at 33 degrees this morning! I am very glad I brought in my southern tropical-like plant that Mandy got me! The heater ran most of the night, too.

Today I am staying here with Orion while his Mommy goes back to her university for some meetings and to her house back there to pick up some stuff. Tonight I would like to head over the mountain to the Jay Green for some free music, but the weather will determine if Orion and I go or not----or if his mother is back yet or not.

We went to the dump yesterday with 22 dollars worth of refuse, and it looks much better around here this morning. However, there is still a bunch of toxic stuff (old gas, old oil, old paint, paint thinner, etc. that has to be dealt with, plus at least another two truckloads of cans and bottles to recycle. I also picked another quart of blueberries last evening before the sun set. I went to see the used (but in new condition) camper trailer that is for sale nearby, and decided I like mine better. Today I am going to try for a new configuration of the dinette area to see if I can make more room in here and still have a table to sit at. Tomorrow Richard is arriving, so I will have some company for a while.

Hope all is well with you all. Anita, I sure hope your dentist can fix you up with not much of a problem....dentists are my least favorite doctor-like persons! I was so thankful that mine was able to fix my front tooth the other day by replacing a filling that fell out with no drilling whatsoever----just a bit of etching to make the new filling stay in! Of course, I have very few teeth in the back any more anyway, so cleaning and flossing is a piece of cake and I take good care of what I have left.

Happy trails to all-----time to go inside and see what the Orion beast is up to!
Life is about learning to dance in the rain
Happy travels!

Good morning Soos & all to follow :D

Heard first thing this a.m. about Lake Saranac being the coldest place this a.m. :D ! Oh, but doesn't it feel good??? ...Anita? I missed a post somewhere & didn't know about dental work? But it's good to see your name mentioned even though I've not seen anything from you ;) Ava, sorry about your mom & the dilemma of the family dynamics :(

Donna, Lake Erie??? When & where? I'm about 4 hrs directly east of Buffalo, so maybe a gtg? PM me with info if you think it's a possibility :) You've been on my mind for a gtg for the past couple months when I realized you're not that far from me!

Well, I'm going to enjoy this perfect day by doing yard work. Tomatoes are really late this year--plenty of them, but not a one of them even showing signs of ripening. Always something to tend to in the garden though, as well as the lawn mowing....

Y'all have a great day, happy travels for those on the road, & as always, be safe wherever you are 8-)

It was 43F on the NY/PA border along the Alleghany River when I got up.... ;) Heavy fog and dew, too...My sneakers are soaked from walking Mr. Spinner  So they are in front of the heat vents drying out.... It is suppose to be at a nice temp. for the rest of the week...not HOT as it has been the last couple of weeks...

Today is my pre-testing and registration at the hospital for my surgery in 2 weeks....I've been having at least 1 appt. per week since we've been here...next week more of the same....in fact, got 2 on the same day.....at least it isn't the "vampires"..... Hate blood work....

On the fun side, we plan to attend the "Taste of Olean" on Sunday....(got to work it in before the NASCAR race, of course... ;) for Ernie... ) They have quite a few good restaurants here....We did this a couple of years ago and enjoyed it alot...

Donna, I'm about 90 miles south of Buffalo and 70 miles from Erie...right off I-86....in case you want to come visit...

Okay, better get going with the shower, etc...got to leave here about 11AM for the appt....takes about an hour and a half to get there....

Have a great day, all...

Hi Everybody,
Bit cool here this morning too, around 50, which is warmer than Soos' 33. Supposed to be a nice sunny day with high in 70's. Another cold front coming in tomorrow and temps will be below normal for a few days. More into the 60's, so I'm sure you east coasters will be getting it too.

Just finished posting the pictures from my trip to the U.P. earlier this month. I know some of you have inquired about them but I had to wait for a new external card reader to arrive as I found out the built in one in my computer was no longer functioning. And of course when making a long post, one has to fight with Photobucket sometimes

Went to get the brake controller installed on my Flex yesterday only to find out that the local RV dealer here doesn't have the part needed to hook the controller to the vehicles already installed wiring system. So am getting it done by another place near where I am picking up my trailer on Friday morning. Then can go to dealer and get the TT. Weather looks like the cold front and I might meet on the road and I'm not looking forward to hauling a new TT home in the rain. We shall see. For those inquiring minds who can't wait to see what I got. It's a 19ft. Sportsman Classic 190.

Anita, I too must have missed a post about dental work. Hope all goes well. Ava, didn't see the one about the family issues either. Hope all works out for you.

Today's agenda is get some gas and mow the grass. Now how's that for a morning rhyme  Other than that, nothing special on agenda. Might go to town and look a storage stuff for the trailer. Need to make a couple of mods in a cupboard after I get it home. Not sure when the first "voyage" will be with it as the state parks up here are still full up and sites are hard to come by. But by mid August that will start to lessen as things slow down. Need this next week to get organized anyway.

Well, time to get moving here. Took about an hour to get pics and info into General Talk, so the morning is moving along on it's own. Have a great day all. I see a GTG in the future for Donna and Carolb coming up. I might have one with Louise (havingfunnow) as well, if we decide to go to the Rendezvous in Mackinac next weekend.

I think the title of this thread is an evil poke at us in the South    We are supposed to be close to the record of 102 today.

The DOG group is meeting this weekend but I'm not going to camp in this heat - my little A/C would not be able to keep up, especially since the site I normally get is not shaded. I may just drive up for the day Saturday and enjoy the camaraderie. There's not even going to be a whole lot of cast iron cooking - too hot to get the fires going.

Good Morning another cool morning... Augie the dog is on the deck... he loves to watch things outside... I leave the door open in case he wants to come in...
Yesterday I took the MH to get the house battery all charged up... my neighbor Barb is going to help me get her ship shape.. she loves the laminate floor... so do I...
I have a meeting today with a lady that may help me stay here rather than move... next Tuesday another lady will come to my house and see what I qualify for as far as in home help...
Soos sounds like a great day for you and Orion... how fun... I bet he loves those blueberries... mmm
Carol I love fresh tomatoes off the vine... ever so good...
Take care everyone and enjoy today

Soos is referring to a Facebook post. I visited my Kansas dentist yesterday. A crown I got in Mexico was not fitted properly and has to be replaced. When they x-rayed to make sure the root was okay (because food could get under the crown), they found another root infected and dying. So, I am having a new crown and a root canal. Will be here until August 20 - had planned to head east before then.

Good Morning All, From the city with the shortest thermometer in the country. High 73, low 67. Not giving me much to write about weather wise. Night and morning low clouds, sunny afternoons.
A trip to Soos for the black berries sounds like a nice plan for the future!
Am taking things down to the camper getting ready for the trip to the high Sierras. Turning on the refrigerator today to get it cool. Food goes down tomorrow. The tires and air springs get checked tomorrow also. Leaving early Sat morning. Not taking the computer, as this will be a week of boon docking. (no generator, no electrical appliences) A small solar panel in on my wish
list for the fantastic fan.
I will miss all the posts. Hoping the health checks go as scheduled. I'll talk to all after Aug 5th or 6th. lyn

Really weird night last night. Started out with a few sprinkles and then half an hour later, just as I was falling asleep, a very strong wind came up out of nowhere. It rocked the whole vehicle and I was really glad nothing had been left outside. Then just as I got to sleep again, thunder and lightning and a ton of noisy rain. By the time things settled down, it was 3 am and I was weary of dropping off only to wake up again.

I just looked up your new tt, Sue. Looks perfect for you. Nice big bed you can walk around, full bathroom, and roomy living area and kitchen. Is there storage under that bed? Looked like there might be. Have fun packing it up and customizing it. Where will you go first??? How exciting! You will have to consider at least one long trip still this year. Maybe somewhere warm?

Now it is sunny and calm, but I am worn out from lack of sleep. Glad the rain settled the dust around here. I am getting so I just can't stand dusty campgrounds. This one is especially bad because I am near a small area where you have to put your boat and trailer if it won't fit in your campsite, so people are constantly driving by. Maybe only three boats, but that means six trips every day and a cloud of dust each time, plus normal traffic.

I am off to Devil's Tower National Monument.

Woke up to 75 this morning. Storms and a cold front will be coming in tonight and the highs over the weekend won't even get out of the 60's. I like the cooler temps. Reminds me of San Diego weather! (Lyn, I moved back from SD last August. Lived there for 2 years!).

I have been looking into work I can do on the road from my (future) RV. Would like to make more money than I could with workamping. Am looking into a couple different possibilities. I am also thinking long-term regarding the hair cutting thing, in case I can no longer stand on my feet all day, I need something else I can do to make money. :D

Lori, I hope your surgery goes well and you are healthy and happy for a long time to come!
Sue, can't wait to see pics of your TT! How exciting!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Looks like there is weird weather all around. We had about the worst thunder storm come through this morning. It sounded like the lightening strikes were coming in bunches. The lights kept going off and on and finally off for 3 hours. We got 5 inches of rain. Our ponds are overflowing again so should be good for the hot month of August. If it gets back up to 90 this afternoon it will be like a steam room.

Barbie, my sister-in-law was in an accident years ago and had to give up cutting hair because she couldn't stand for hours. She started doing nails and eventually opened her own shop. I think she also does facials. I don't know that is something you could do while rving. Fancy nails are not my thing. I break a nail every time I do anything with my motorhome.

Kathleen, that is the best news I have heard from you in a long time. If I lived closer, I would be there everyday to help you in your house until we left for FL for the winter, and hopefully you'd be following us down.
