I have had Poms since 1990. Mixed bag of smarts. SkippyPB was my heart dog, smart, sassy and I still miss him terribly. I have PoohBear now, he came to me 6 years old and does tricks I havent found them all I am sure. He learned to sneeze in like 2 minutes. The minute he landed in my pack he immediately became my guard and attack dog. He will not let people walk up to me while I am sitting, he goes for their ankles. Otherwise is he very friendly, outgoing, ready to be picked up and petted. None of my Poms have been overly barky. I think a lot of the bad rap Poms get is the fault of the owners.

The issues that most dogs have come from what they have learned from or what has been reinforced by their owners. I try to remind folks that if they don't choose to teach their dogs specific behaviors doesn't mean that their dogs aren't learning...

That's a Pomeranian with the trendy haircuts that they are doing on them now....to make them look more teddy-bear-like...I guess.

I had Poms years ago. They are so beautiful all by themselves...I can't for the life of me understand this haircut thing. BTW, it's kind of hazardous to cut the Nordic breeds' coat like this. It takes away their natural insulation. When I had my grooming shop in the 90s' I spent more time talking people OUT of cutting the coats.
