Another Hot Thursday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Another Hot Thursday

Postby Colliemom » Thu Jul 18, 2013 7:10 am

Good Morning all,

Well, guess I will start MC this morning as it seems everybody's trying to keep cool and enjoying the last of a nights sleep. The whole country seems to be under a heat wave, although as Maggie said, her area is below normal a bit. But even then, seems like 80' s the minimum temps for the most part. Relief is on the way for those of us in the north. One more day of this hot weather and tomorrow it will start breaking down.

Lori, I can sympathize with you "donating blood" while walking Spinner. Same thing happened to me when I got up to the U.P. two weeks ago. But then the weather cleared and so did they. Didn't have any more problem after that. Same for here too. They are coming up late now, just about dark and I'm not out there then. Good luck with you new GP and I hope you health issues get all straightened out. No fun waiting and worrying.

I just had my eyes examined by a new doctor yesterday. She did good job, but I have an implant in my left eye and she said that it looks like it's starting to cloud over among a few other things. So am going to go see an Ophthalmologist and have him check it out. The original doctor who did the cataract surgery on that eye has retired, so hence my starting out with new docs again. But this lady doc has me outfitted for new glasses, so that will be nice. The old ones need replacing.

Turned out to be a long stay in town when I went up for the eye appt. Long story short, but neighbor drove me up cause doc uses the eye drops and won't put them in if I drive alone. Neighbor has friend who took a bad fall at Senior complex. So we stopped to check on her. Arm problems. Decided to go to Emergency room as it was too late for personal doc. Spent 4 hours at hospital between waiting to get in, getting ex-rays done, waiting for doctor, another recheck of ex-rays, no broken bones etc., arm in sling for now, see her own doctor today etc. Boring sitting in the waiting room all that time. Went out for dinner afterwards. Left home at 2:30, got home a bit before 10. Sassy was fine, but house was warm. Put A/C on in bedroom and she made a beeline for it. Poor baby.

Red, hope you get your MH issues taken care of so you don't have to keep camping in the hot sun. Sarah, hope all goes well with Magic and that you get to have a mini GTG down there.

Well, need to get ready to head for town in a bit. SS day yesterday, so need to get some green for wallet and food for Sassy. Hope you all have a great day and keep cool everyone.

Good Morning Sue and all who will be here soon. It's still hot here but I seem to be handling it better so far this summer. When I went for my summer acupuncture she did areas to help with heat related problems. DH has even noticed a difference, I have no idea how acupuncture works but so far I am pleased with the results. The person I see is from China and is also a medical doctor, I think in China you must be a doctor before training for acupuncture.
In a moment of frugality and frustration I switched our Mediacom cable TV to the basic package so now we only get 23 channels instead of around 50, but the cost went from $70.a month to $12. :) The cost for what we had kept going up and the number of channels kept changing, after midnight almost all channels were infomercials. I'm going to see if we miss the other channels and if so, will go with Direct TV.
Hope the weather improves for everyone and the day brings many smiles.

good morning ladies
no school today so I'm home for now until the vet opens. Very heavy heart this morning as I take Pixie to the vet. She fell off the
bed last night and landed on her face. It doesn't take an xray to tell me something is very very wrong. Lots of bleeding from her
mouth and she became very violent. Not like her at all, she was like trying to fight with a dog that wasn't there in the middle
of the room. Broke my heart. Gave her a dose of metacam for the pain and she had to spend the night in her kennel. She is no
better this morning, but laying on the dogbed under my desk right now. Maggie is staying clear of her.
Hope every one has good weather today and I'll catch up with ya's later.

Oh no, Ava! I'm fortunate to have a veterinary ER not too far down the freeway and I would have definitely been there. That must have been scary for you and Pixel (and Maggie, too).

Sun is out today so we will be back in the 90s. We've gotten quite a bit of rain this week so far.

Going to be a nice day here in the Black Hills. I drove off yesterday and visited Wind Cave and the Mammoth Site, which is just south of there. Very interesting places. Also got to see some antelope and buffalo. I ended up being gone about 8 hours, but I left my trusty sign that says my site is occupied, made thanks to Sue!

Today is going to be a quiet day while I try to catch up on grading stuff. Not too much wind so I can even put out my awning today.

I am going to take a jeep tour tomorrow morning down some roads I can't go in my RV. Hoping to see more wildlife and be able to take more wildflower photos.
