I love the pet runs - love being able to let my pups (now pup) off leash to run and roam.

That said - campgrounds and rv parks are no different than anyplace else - they have rules. Some are for singles only, some for gays only, some for certain religious groups only, some membership only, etc etc etc. I started out traveling with 2 dogs, one of whom was large - and I never had trouble. But if a cg doesn't want to have dogs, I don't go to that one.

It's impossible to tell a dog it can't go potty on the way to a dog run - but as long as you pick up - if they have a problem - to heck with them - don't go back there. Lots of the rules are for the idjits that do NOT take care of picking up - like mentioned above even at homes.

Oh, I grew up in a neighborhood where kids and dogs were not allowed near one neighbors yard. We just loved to do something when we knew no one was watching :) Some people are just jerks.

everyone has such great comments, I afraid I have nothing to add. My dogs (3)
are quite easy to manage when it comes to campgrounds, since they are small
and a breed that is acceptable I don't expect any problems. However I really
haven't been lately with 3 total. I do have xpens, 2 that I attach together to
make one bigger one, and put on my patio, under my awning, cause my dogs
are definately the breed never to let off leash anyway. The girls, being little
and trained to use potty pads inside are not a problem at all for that reason.
Bandit however is a leg lifter and needs to sniff out a bush. I have in the past,
carried a squirt bottle (like an empty dish soap bottle) and squirted down his
pee spots on bushes. I had to do that one particular year living in an apt complex,
pets were welcome but of course we had to clean up after them and they meant
pee as well, so thats what I did.

I can even see the clean up/wash down "pee" situation in certain environments. It all has to do with how much dog traffic goes buy.....Dog pee can be stinky in large quantities and damaging to bushes and grass.....especially if in an area that doesn't have a lot of rain......

And where one dog pees the others mark over it; time and time again. Can kill plants and smells awful.

MojitoMama wrote:Well I have to agree with the 'picking up' issue. In my neighborhood at home, we have a number of regular dog-walkers and as far as I can tell, I am the ONLY one who picks up after my dogs. I have watched (out the window) as my neigbor from 2 doors down let her dog do his thing in my front yard, but didn't run out and confront her because I don't want to be a bad neighbor. But last month, some guy came out and yelled at me (AFTER I had picked up after my dog) and told me not to let my dog go in his yard again (it was between the sidewalk and the street). I wanted to tell him to just be glad it wasn't any of the other 6 or 8 dog-walkers who doesn't pick up at all (but again, I didn't want to be confrontational).

Anyway, I would definitely clean up after my dog anywhere!

I walk mine in the street and still pick up, there is down, everyday she walks her Maltese on everyone's lawn, caught him leaving a dump and told her to pick it up, her comment was "it's small". Informed her that the state law doesn't state the size, it is her responsibility, the next time she came by, I was coming out with my two, never seen her on my lawn again lol, thankfully they have a for sale sign in front, so she won't be a problem again.

I always pick up after my dog....my jeans pocket has a 'poop' bag in it all the time....I am prepared....Just wonder about those that think they don't have to be responsible for their pets' droppings.... :?

I usually have 4-5 when I walk my 2. Plastic grocery bags work well when your poopers are as big as mine - their land mines are quite a bit bigger and Jasmine likes to spread hers around (why can't some dogs just squat in one spot?)

The real "tell" is how many clean plastic bags get fished out of the washers or dryers. When I am using the grocery bags I notice those because of the size but when I use the slightly smaller plastic bags (remember I carry for multiple poopers) I have found up to 4 .....every time I exit the rig I would make sure there were extra bags in the pockets of the pants or the sweatshirt or the jacket or the sweater...... And I always want that "extra" bag as a safety. Hey, some days have multiple stops to get everything moving as it should! :)

I have inquired with several campgrounds and got a clear answer from one. I really think there definition of "aggressive" breeds depends on who is checking in people when you get there because they don't want to clarify which breeds they are considering aggressive at the moment. Alexis is half lab, has the lab coat and lead pipe tail, Beck can not pass for anything else, especially with those batman ears

I've never had a problem because of Maggie at any campground. Where I am now there is a park nearby. I always pick up after her but sadly not many others do the same.

Recently at a cg, my daughter and I watched and listened as a neighbor constantly called to her dog who was off leash trying to get it to return to their camper. Had she followed the rules we would not have had to be annoyed by her constant calls or the threat of her dog running over to our site to see Maggie who was tethered to my RV while we ate dinner outside.

People like that ruin it for others.
