The breed restrictions at private CGs probably has to do with their insurance. Home owners insurance always asks what breed dog you have. Even though most individual dogs of these breeds are sweethearts, there has been enough bad apples to spoil it for the good ones.
Red, I don't know about the campgrounds rules on that, but I can tell you, Louisiana Animal Control Law states that all animals are to be confined, either in a yard or leash, if a dog is running at large up to your leashed dog, your dog can kill it an you will not be in the wrong. I'm not saying I would want to go to that extreme, but the one running loose is automatically in the wrong. I had the boston next door run up to me while I'm walking both of mine. Alexis wanted to torment it, but Beck (dobie), just looked at me like to say "are you kidding?". He'll play with the little dogs, unfortunately my other one, does need a constant eye and alot of "Leave it" . There is another law that states you are responsible for picking up after your dog. I'm sure those laws are in other states, I can say Louisiana because I used to volunteer as Animal Control in New Orleans.
