Beautiful Friday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Beautiful Friday

Postby Colliemom » Fri Jul 12, 2013 8:04 am

Good Morning everyone,

Have been absent for a couple of days. Computer was up in repair shop. Having some issues with trying to download my pictures from camera's memory stick. Problem is the receiver that takes the memory stick is shot. New one on order, so will be taking computer back in probably Monday if it comes in to have it installed. Could download through camera's ISB cord, but cannot find it anywhere around here. Haven't used it in so long, it's probably in a "safe" place where we never find things after putting them there  So will be next week before I post pictures from U.P.

Beautiful weather pattern here in northern Michigan. Sunshine and mild temps in the mid 70's. Had just enough rain the other day to water everything again, but are heading for a week of 80's which will drive up humidity for a bit again. But those days are short lived. Usually a week and then gone again. So BJ, if you want to get away some place for awhile, come on up here. It really is nice and no, I am not being bothered my misquito's now. I'm outside all day and even sitting on my porch in the evening. Sassy and I are out for evening walks and no problem. The week Maggie was here was bad cause of the damp humidity at the time and the late wet spring we had here. Same for the U.P. When I first got up there, they were bad, but once the weather cleared a couple of days later, it was great and they disappeared. Latest report I have from up there is none around.

Maggie, thank you for that cooler. I kind of figured that you had been by cause you had mentioned getting one and I knew you were flying back. So if you are ever back up here, stop by and make use of it again

Louise, yes, the plan in Michigamme is to list as condos next year. Don't know what I will do at that time. They may be priced out of my range as home prices here are not going up as yet. Will just have to wait and see how things play out. But it wold be a good thing in a way, cause I would be able to leave and go places. But at the same time, I found myself wanting to do some yard work toward the end of the week. Missed puttering around in my yard.

Kathleen, hope that your doctor can find something to make you pain free and you can get out and enjoy your MH again. Also glad you are making progress in cleaning out cupboards and what not around your place and rig. Hang in there girl.

Karen, you looking for an ideal place to live. Well, other than winters sometimes being a bit long and it also depends on where you are as some areas have mild winters, MI has an ideal climate as those of us who live here always say. Most of the time we can't ask for better weather and we aren't prone to long dry hot spells, bad fires (could happen), earthquakes, hurricanes, tornado's per say, maybe one once in awhile in the downstate areas, rare up here, flooding unless you happen to live by a river that might go over if snow melts too fast or something in spring etc...

Carolb, at this point I am not surewhat my last rig is going to be either. I'm really favoring something that doesn't need to be towed, but may give in on that anyway. I would love a Class B, but right now my budget is too tight to take on anymore payments. So am kind of biding my time here althought might stop by an RV dealer today. Long as I am making lease payments on Flex, I don't want to add anymore payments to my list. Too many other expenses right now.

Irmi, sounds like things are getting a little too busy for you. Hope it settles down, but you are getting under control too. You parents are so lucky to have you there. Keep up the good work.

Well, enough prattling for this morning. Must get moving here Have a great day all.

Sue - of course the mosquitoes are gone - I'm not there anymore. And we had the mosquitoes the whole time I was on the UP - I just had the mosquito repellent by then and used it.

I need to work on my photos this weekend - I have 2 weeks worth of photos to go through. I've been working on the photos the family took for the Photo Scavenger Hunt. It's so much fun seeing the results. And it was really fun watching the family get so excited about this. After seeing the photos, now I know why I had so many strangers stop me and ask about the scavenger hunt - one team recruited lots of strangers - extra points!!! :o

I also need to get caught up on laundry - ugh!

I need to figure out what Mark was doing in the Land Dinghy last night - he got the keys to the trailer and went out about 9:30. He may have been setting up the trickle charger on the battery which would have been really nice since it's been sitting for a few weeks. I don't know when I'm going camping again. The DOG notice said people were camping in July, but it's way hot and I don't know if my little A/C can keep up.

Good morning Sue & everyone!

Sue, I'm looking forward to seeing the pictures you took in the U.P., so as soon as you have the receiver installed, get them posted for everyone to enjoy.

It's raining again in our corner of the country and our county has road closures from flooding. Needless to say, we won't be taking my car to test the car trailer we're interested in. We've called the company to reschedule this for Monday, weather permitting. If we have a lull in the weather, I'd like to get some grocery shopping done, but need to go to the bank first. If that doesn't happen today, hopefully I can do that tomorrow.

I hope everyone is doing ok, if you are on the road, stay safe. Wherever you are and whatever you're doing, have a good Friday.

GOOD MORNING ALL!

The sky was the pure black of an Adirondack night without a moon last night, and the Milky Way and all the summer constellations were brilliant and crisp. I miss the Billions and billions of stars that show up here when I am in the light-muddied skies of even the clearest night in FL. I forget just how super sky-watching is up here.

And the day dawned sunny, 65 degrees, and 62% humidity.....a perfect July day in my book!

I'm not sure what's on the docket for jobs around here on this fine day, other than another mowing of this trailer area. I am so hoping Joe can move stuff from I front of my old trailer so I can haul that to its summer spot and I can work on it.

I discovered several old Walkman-like cassette players in my going through stuff yesterday, and found I can now play my cassettes through my sound system here in the trailer, or anywhere there are speakers, for that matter. I am so excited! I have a lot of old cassettes that I have never replaced with CDs or MP3s, and it's fun to listen to them again.

Am getting menu planned for the Ruckus, and it seems as if we should have a good crowd up here this time around----I am really getting excited! I really hope this sort of weather pattern would happen during that Ruckus week, but, even if it doesn't, there is plenty of covered space for us all to get to meet, have fun, and know each other.

Off I go to see what I can accomplish----hope you all have a great Friday.

Happy travels!

good morning ladies
was so glad to get a good nights sleep, cooler was working good and little Pixie settled down and not disturbing me.
No school today but have a big list of stuff to go through. One of the girls at work broke up with boyfriend and had
to get an apartment which she moves in this weekend. She has nothing but her clothes and two little dogs so she's
basically starting over. Another friend gave her a bed and I have a few items I can give her but am also putting
together some kitchen stuff, bathroom stuff, laundry stuff, well you name it, to get her started.
She's a co-worker and doesn't go back to work until august and I know
she won't get a check until the end of august, even with that things will be tight for her. She's not a dear friend of
mine but I know the feeling of starting over and my heart tells me she needs help. So today I'm wearing my supergirl
panties and going through my stuff. Finally finding a home for my old bedroom tv, as it still works and even comes
with remote. However, I do know this is not going to be the end of it. Its like I'm taking on an ongoing project. She's gonna
have to learn alot of things, and a little humbleness. She has NEVER been on her own before and at 57, she's got alot to
learn. Will need to make a trip out to the rv and grab some of my old sheets and a few other items I know I have stashed
away. :D Will have to keep my guard up though and not allow her to take advantage of my kindness. She needs to learn
to work a 5 day week and stop calling in sick. Ok, I can do this, it will be fine and I'll feel good about it.
Time to get started on laundry and get busy on the "stuff"
Ya'll have a good day and I hope everyone has good weather where you are.

Good Morning... got a few hours sleep maybe 2 or 3... more med when I got up... Tuesday will come soon... the med oxi something or the other is blowing my diet or rather eating plan to smithereens... it seems that this boosts the bodes feeling of needing carbs...

Oh Sue will love the pictures of the UP you do such a great job... Soos I would love to come to the ruckus one of these days... tell me what is the nearest city... I want to google it... and dream a bit... Irmi still praying for you to have strength to help your mom and dad... I always marvel at how much you get done! wonder woman...

it is a little cooler here today and cloudy... I think the black ants are coming from the neighbors trees... have only a few under 5 but that is a sign there are more coming... keep spraying a bit and using bounce dryer sheets...

Today I will vacuum and finish one of the armoires... I will make one box of rags to use and the rest of the rags to pack around glass things .. I also have a box of antiques... those I will not give away... I do not have many keep sakes but what I have I want to keep...

I would like to go see the one apartment that a friend Wanda lives in... I will do some measuring to see what I can comfortably keep...

time for more coffee...

Sue, the new camera wrist strap I bought two months ago is in that same safe place. I think I will have to tear some cabinets apart to find it.

I bailed out of the Badlands campground. It was beautiful there, but it was going up to 102 again today and I did not want to fight the heat and my AC not keeping me cool enough. So, I am in Wall, SD, for two nights. Temps are only supposed to get to 92 today. I will get some work done here and head west to Rapid City on Sunday and stay there one night. I need an oil change and found a place that will do it on Monday. Also need to get some shopping done before I head to Custer State park, and Rapid City has a mall and a lot of grocery stores.

Kathleen, you need to get those first ants taken care of. Those are the "scout" ants and once they discover something they like, they just whistle and all the millions of other ants come running! Then you will have a serious problem!

Another beautiful day here today! 87, low humidity and breezy! Just like San Diego! :D
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Kathleen I am battling some of those little ants also....I see 2 or 3 in my bathroom and if I ignore them soon there are 233!!! So I am all over the ant spray and ant traps...so far so good. Barbie isn't kidding that's for sure. I spray outside my house too but who knows where the suckers come from.

Judy you are certainly up in the heat. You need to head for the high hills ....to cool off LOL

Not much going on here today. Only supposed to be 88 then will soar up to the high 90's for several days. Personally I want to wear my sweatshirt......I actually hate the high heat. I don't mind low 80's but this heat makes me unmotivated, even inside with AC.

Sounds like a perfect day for Carold and her hubby to go for a cruise. I would really like to do that one day. For now I live thru everyone's pics.

Thank you Thank you Barbie and Karen... I did have a problem maybe 4 years ago... they were in my kitchen big black ones ran up the wall... scared me to death... I sprayed and sprayed and sprayed inside and outside too... someone told me about the Bounce sheets... I put them all over the floor and on the counters... I will take heed and keep spraying... after my injections for pain I will spray outside also... boy the more I think about it the more I remember... There is a sprayer in my shed that you pump to get pressure and that is what I can use... do not need those buggers around when I put the for sale sign up!
take care everyone

Kathleen, I have one of those sprayers too, but it gets old after a bit pumping and pumping and pumping. So I bought the gallon of home defense and use the sprayer that comes with it.....much lighter and easier to use I think.
