Seeking advice on Dog Ramps

The loves of my life are two canines, Alexis, 9yr rotador and Beckam, 7yr doberman. I am seeking to get a ramp to get in the travel trailer because I know they are not going to like those little steps; I'm getting my first travel trailer in two weeks so I'm just trying to make sure you have this before they see it, I know they are not going to like those little steps.

Any advice on this and any other tips for camping with canines is appreciated.

I actually have not had a problem with Oscar and the trailer stairs, which I thought I would. But he can no longer get in the truck unassisted.I got one similar to this:

I have this ramp and have used it for over 7 years. It works well with getting my Lab into the back of my Expedition and into the trailer. He doesn't like going down it, though, so I have to lift him out of the Expy. He'll go down the trailer steps fine.

Just a cautionary note - depending on where you like to camp, both your breeds are restricted at many cg's ... so you'll need to make sure you can bring them first, planning accordingly - as I'm guessing you won't go if they don't go.

I've seen restrictions at some state parks. But most of the breed and size restrictions are with private cg's. National and state parks will have varying rules regarding pets on trails, etc. On rare occasions dogs are allowed on trails in NP's ... usually only on some roads and the cg, though. State parks usually allow dogs on trails. All have leash requirements, but as you saw recently, Mitch, those are only as good as the camphosts who are there.

VA is the only state park system that I know of that allows dogs, but charges a fee for them ... higher than most cg's. Had to go look it up:
"Dogs are allowed at all overnight camping facilities (access restricted at False Cape), $5 per dog per night plus tax to a maximum of
$15 plus tax per Dog"

State parks usually allow dogs on trails

I stayed at Big Basin State Park here in Califonia in the Santa Cruz mountains and they wouldn't allow dogs on any trails. Sure wish they would allow them at least on 1 or 2 trails.

That is correct, they are good dogs, but I know, good suffer for the bad. I have a Boston on one side and a yorkie on the other, both of them are constant yappers and mine barely bark because they know I don't put up with it and its back inside they go.

I get so tired of people that don't pick up after their dogs. I am so tempted to pick up the dog poop in a bag and leave it on the owner's RV door step. People don't realize the spread of disease and parasites by not picking up after their dogs. Just yesterday a Jack Russell at another campsite was not on a leash and as I walked Tyler (on a leash), it came charging and jumped at Tyler. Tyler made a warning growl and everyone came running to see if the little precious Jack Russell was OK from the big bully dog. Yeah right. A 13 yo almost blind English Setter.

The breed restrictions at private CGs probably has to do with their insurance. Home owners insurance always asks what breed dog you have. Even though most individual dogs of these breeds are sweethearts, there has been enough bad apples to spoil it for the good ones.

I'm grateful that my little Jack Russell, Weatherby, is small enough that I can snatch him up by leash, harness or whatever necessary when big dogs have came after him. When Remi was alive, at 92lbs. there was no way I would have been able to pull 2big dogs apart.

I'm not picking on a specific breed, but on the irresponsible owners. These campers were inside their RV while their little Jack Russell was outside free to roam the CG, and aggressively defend his territory.
