Sleepy Sunday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Sleepy Sunday

Postby Redetotry » Sun Jul 07, 2013 9:11 am

Well not for me but since no one has opened the kitchen guess many are getting a good nights sleep. Breakfast is over here but left things out for those who come later.
I saw on the news last night that KY where a few of our forum friends are having a GTG, had storm and possible tornado warnings. They will have a lot of memories from this trip for sure!

I went 'junking' with a couple of friends yesterday and in one of the new antiques shops I found a lovely little white wicker chair for my bedroom. I'm waiting for my new wardrobe to air and my room to be painted so I can get it all organized. I'm tired of the darker antiques pieces I've had in there for too many years. We also stopped by a favorite winery that just opened a new tasting room, one of the few places that doesn't charge for samples :) By the time I finished sampling, I didn't need to buy a glass but I did buy a bottle of a yummy sort of sweet red wine to go.

Hope everyone has something fun going on today. Enjoy!

good morning ladies
ahhhh, my last day of leisure before going back to work. Will be good to get back to work, but don't be mistaken, I'm
not a workaholic, I just like the money :D and I have plans on spending it :D
The thermometer says its 87 but it doesn't feel like it, feels more like 82 and cloudy.
No plans today. Ya'll have a good one and be safe.

HORRIBLE STORMS came through just north of me last night and I was VERY concerned about the ladies over near Cadiz KY at Lake Barkley State Park. My weather radio kept saying if you're near/on Lake Barkley (near Cadiz) seek shelter immediately! I tried calling Sarah twice, with no luck. Sent an emai to Sandy and got this reply at 10:30 last night:

Hi Mitch,

Yes, we all are OK. We had gone to the visitor center for the Planatrium show at 8 pm tonight. The storm came through while we were there. When we got back to the campground the electricity was knocked out, but there is no damage to any of our rigs. Sarah is fine and no damage to anything. We are using battery power for lights and propane for the frige.

Poor Nicky was stuck in Sarah's rig alone during the storm, but he is fine too.

We are all leaving for home tomorrow and the weather is predicted to be dry. I sure hope so! Other than rain, we have had a great week of camping.

Good morning everyone. Glad to hear everyone at the gtg in Kentucky are OK. We had that storm hit us as well. As we sit on the gulf coast in Biloxi and this gulf storm hits us as it covers everything from Lousiana over to FL and up to Ohio. It has not stopped since the 4th. Will continue for another couple days. The only place to go to get out of this stuff is back home to TX. So, we extended another day, probably will again till Wed. The RV park is emptying like a mass exodus. DH escapes to the poker rooms while I take long walks along the beach and eat seafood at beachside cafes. The beach is right across the street and I take Tyler and go even if it is raining. Even though they recently had a red tide, algae bloom and storms, I still love the beach. But if lightening is in the sky, I find cover. But getting wet on a walk along the beach is not a problem. Everyone have a great and stay safe. Aloha y'all

Good Morning All, Glad to hear the camping in KY women are OK and no damage to rigs. It is not a sleepy Sunday for me. Cleaning, washing sheets and towels, making beds after company has left is keeping me on the go.

Last night was a big soccer game down at the ball park...lots of noise and cheering. Team from TJ played someone. The TJ team is a very good team and has lots of fans around here.

Safe driving today for those on the road. lyn

Cloudy and breezy here in La and calling for a 60% chance of rain. Good, Hope needs a good wash down! LOL! Been a quick and dirty trip here, did in 4 days what I usually do in 10-14, but it couldn't be helped. Just the way things worked out. Forgot about the 4th being a holiday but surprisingly had no trouble finding a place to hunker. But maybe I just wasn't in a party place. I've got some good park recomendations that I need to get posted, PA parks that really impressed me, and I'm a hard sell! LOL!

Gotta go get ready to move, have a great day all and travel safe!

I slept in this morning, also. Counted out two weeks of pills this morning and then sorted through and reorganized the plastic open-front bins I use to store maps and nature books. I tossed out all the AAA camping books I have carried around for a whole year because I have never used them. Put the maps in packets with rubber bands based on what parts of the country they came from. I pulled out all the other junk like brochures I had stuffed in there and put them in a ziplock bag to move to my storage unit when I get back to Ohio next April.

Yesterday was a VERY long drive--360 miles. I had really miscalculated miles, and then the visitor center lady recommended I stick to freeways. Stopped in Cheyenne WY to buy a sort of caftan/robe and some books and a tile for my oven. I had decided I needed something to wear after I take my shower but before I go to bed. Now that I am back in hot weather, I have been showering before dinner, but am not quite ready to get ready for bed, so this will work for a while--keeps me covered, but is not really sleepwear.

Then I ignored the visitor center lady and bailed off the expressway onto U.S. 26. It was designated a scenic route and it went past several potentially interesting places. One was some Oregon Trail deep wagon ruts and the other was Fort Laramie. I stopped at both. The wagon ruts near Guernsey, WY, was well worth stopping at. I stopped at Fort Laramie, but did not have enough time to explore it as much as I would have liked. As it was, I did not get to my campground until 7:30 pm and there were thunder storms brewing, so I hooked up quickly and plopped into my recliner as soon as I got inside.

Big storms and a lot of rain came through last night. I was achy, so I took half a sleeping pill and really got a good night sleep. Today I am just straightening things up and resting. I have some work to do, also. I will wait until tomorrow to get my bike out and do some exploring of this place. Temps are in 90s, so will have to get up early before it gets too lot. Feels good to not be driving, although I have to admit that yesterday was one of the most scenic driving day I have ever had. Beautiful views of plains and rocky outcrops. Lots of wildflowers, also.

Good Morning from Oregon

Postby judi » Sun Jul 07, 2013 2:44 pm

Hello everybody. I hope this Sunday finds everyone well and happy. I have to thank all of you for such a wonderful website! I have learned so much by reading through all the posts. Gadgets! Travel hints! I love it, and have not accomplished much of anything in the last few days because I'm always on Women RV. My house is a mess, there are piles of laundry in the laundry room, my refrigerator needs a clean-out, and the garden needs attention. Oh well, there's always tomorrow...
I am happy to have found you!

Judy, where are you now? Did you have a lot of wind while you were driving thru Wyoming. I remember it was very windy when Linda and I were in that area. It is so flat there.

Hot and humid here today. Around 90, but tomorrow is supposed to be close to 100 degrees! Thank God for air conditioning!

Glad the gals in KY are safe and had no problems. Those storms can be very scary!

Hi Judi----and WELCOME! I have been more than remiss about welcoming people lately, so I will try to catch up as they post.

Happy to know why my house/trailer is often so messy!

It was VERY windy driving through Wyoming and Nebraska getting here. I could barely drive 55 most of the time. The wind was hitting me sideways and rocking me. Hard to steer straight.

It is funny to think that the lady in the visitor center at the state border said the interstate was quicker because the speed limit was 75! :o

Ha! My speed limit is nearly always 65, and that is without the side wind rocking me.
