Saturday saturation

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Saturday saturation

Postby carolb » Sat Jul 06, 2013 7:13 am

Good morning all! :D

We had a second night of mother nature's fireworks & much rain; now the sun is shining & the day is heating & "humidity-ing" up. Feeling like I need to get to the midwest--talked to bro in MO, & he says weather has been perfect there. Or the UP, right Sue? I usually love summer weather of any kind, but the extensive heat & humidity is getting to me this year--not to mention the accompanying over-population of mosquitoes  Yes, planning to get away next weekend or so, destination VT! :P

For now, may sneak out to the garden for a bit & hope I don't GET BIT  Then a day of house cleaning...

Y'all have a great day & safe travels always! 8-)

Parked in the trees way out in front of my cousin's. The drive is long enough that you can't hear the generator (hardly) from the front of the house and not at all from the patio and pool area in the back. Boondocking until Sunday or Monday depending upon how long a couple of the out of town cousins stay around. Went sailing in the Chesapeake yesterday with Kate and Lucas. Warm fun in the sun. My son had texted his sister to say that he was coming and arriving sometime yesterday evening....and bringing someone. Kate said she had met her earlier this summer when she was in New York and had flippantly said something about her brother never settling down. :o And her brother had to shut her down fast. I'll let you know what I find out. For today there will be lots of old family photos from the past and lots of stories.

Well off to take the dogs for a walk before all the guests begin to arrive and the poppers are left waiting in the rig....too many people and small children expected. There is a no dog rule for the party. My cousin's wife is smart. She has met some of the dogs a few of the relatives have tried to bring in the past.

Everybody have a day of good adventures and accomplishments, even if it is sorting through boxes (Donna) ....it is all part of the journey we travel and makes us who we are.

Good Morning
We have a light rain this morning.
After Linda and Sandy left for their ranger guided kayak to to see wildlife tour, Nicky and I just relaxed and enjoyed to view. Nice couple next to me invited us to share their campfire. All was well until kids in 2 camp sites nearby started throwing firecrackers - both up and down the road and into their campfires. These were so close Nicky was terrified. After a few minutes of this he was trembling so uncontrollably I gave him a tranqualizer. The noise went on for almost 1.5 hours! Nicky managed to wedge himself between a basket and the cabinet in bathroom and refused to move for couple of hours. By about 10 PM he was fine again.
Got a good report on the evening wildlife tour when others returned about 9:30 last night but I'll let one of them give you the details.

Hang in there Kathleen.. It will get better.

Have a safe day

Cloudy and warm this morning. Supposed to hit 90 today with high humidity. We are meeting at the nursing home for a little birthday party for my dad at 1pm. His sister was supposed to come too but she backed out for some reason.

My computer got hit with a virus the other day. My friend at work told me about a website (bleepingcomputer.com) to fix it. It worked! That saved me a ton of money! And I was back on line last night after just a couple of hours. It found 18 viruses. The main virus that hit looked like an antivirus program (System Care Antivirus) and insisted that I pay $$$ to get my millions of viruses removed. It wouldn't let me open up any programs on my laptop without flashing a bunch of warnings. So I knew it was a virus. I got signed up with AVG so hopefully that will prevent that from happening again.

I spent the 4th cleaning house and then found out that you can see fireworks across the lake from here, so I brought a chair and my Thermacell down to the bonfire the caretakers had going and sat with them and some other residents and watched the fireworks. Actually, could see 3 different locations going at once. Very nice!

Hope you all have a good weekend, stay dry, cool, etc!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Good Morning everyone! We have had a beautiful week here in Northern MN. Mid 80's during the day, and cooler at night. We had a nice rain overnight but now the sun is shining. More rain tonight and tomorrow it looks like. We had a nice 4th.

There were several accidents in the area again from the fireworks. I wish they would just stop the fireworks. A local guy mid 20's lit fireworks and it don't go off so he went and picked it up and blew his hand off, had to be airlifted out. So terrible about all the injured in CA when the deck collapsed and all the fireworks went off at one time, many injured there.

Next week I will make my rounds to some of the Flea Markets to see if I can sell more of my stuff I used to sell at the craft shows. I gave up the craft shows as it takes up so much of my time, and you have to reserve your spot a year in advance. Summer's in MN are to short, I want to enjoy them. When I do the flea markets, I can watch the weather and take off when I know it's going to be nice.

Have a nice weekend, and keep it safe!

Good Morning All, The kids and their dog left this morning. So quiet here in the condo now. The cat came out of the bedroom, sniffing around looking for the dog. Couldn't find him, so she is happy/thrilled this morning.

One of our forum ladies is flying into town next week. Hoping to meet her for a little coffee gtg.

As no fireworks are allowed to be sold in this town, I was surprised on my first trip out to the other states and found fireworks stands all over the areas. Yes, they were banned here as there were so many horrible accidents. As a kid tho, I loved those sparklers to wave around.

Happy day and safe driving to those on the road. lyn

Sarah, I'm surprised a campground would let kids pop firecrackers in the park. Where we usually go at the lake the owner will let campers fire fireworks at the boat launch 1 or 2 nights. It usually lasts about an hour and then they are done for the night. One of our house cats didn't make it in before the neighbors started with the fireworks. She jammed herself into an enclosed area under the porch and wouldn't come out until it had been quiet for a while. It always killed me to buy fireworks. I could just hear my dad saying you were burning money. We had a neighbor boy that had something go off in his hand and burned him badly. I was about 7 so learned early what could happen.

It has rained some this morning. I see more off shore but can't tell which way it's going. If it comes on shore we will get more rain.

Better go finish mopping before my DH gets back. He was up at 4 cooking his breakfast. No telling where he went off to. I didn't look to see if the trailer is gone but he and his horse are probably off somewhere.

Good morning everyone.
I pulled a "Carolb" & drove cross country in 35 hours. :o
Brought my DD's cats & other stuff to her. She already started her job & gets the apartment on Monday in San Diego. Decided to come out to my son's in LA for the weekend then will help DD move in on Monday.
Sadie proved to be a perfect traveling companion :D I think sons puppy is going to drive her nuts though. They about the same size but Allie has boundless energy & wants to play all the time. May have to let Sadie rest in the van for a bit. ;)
Will try to catch up a little now. Missed seeing what everyone is up to.

Lyn, just saw your post - will definitely meet up with you once I've unloaded DDs stuff. :D
Later....

Good morning all. Home safe and COOL from our Impromptu camping trip. Came home to a nice cool house as the fellow fixed my AC and all is well now. Really glad we went up to 7Feathers to camp as there are NO fireworks allowed at all on Tribal land. The dogs were not "quaking in their boots" (so to speak). However there are always those people who have to draw the July 4th holiday out for a week so we did medicate our dogs last night at my house as we heard some "booms" and knew it did not bode well. All was well and we slept pretty good thru the night. (I think Laura might have stolen some of her dogs meds ha ha).

Sarah where were the camp hosts allowing those kids to disturb everyones tranquility? That would just not be allowed out here in Oregon at the state parks. In fact I would have been down there raising holy he**.

Beautiful morning here but supposed to get up in the 90's later today. Just have some errands to run then more R & R for Laura and I.

good morning ladies
woke up to a pleasant 84 degrees, little humidity this morning too. Pretty much have all my chores caught up, so not
doing much today. However, think I'll take a little stroll out the back door and see whats changed since Darren got
fired and is no longer back there. I did notice there was post holes dug to extend the fence. I would have to admit,
the one drawback at living here is that I don't have a lovely little outside sitting area for me and the girls. I've always
considered my outside sitting areas as my "secret gardens". Might be a good incentive for me to get my butt in gear
and get my rv set back up this fall. Have to keep my long term goal in mind and see how I can mesh it with a short
term goal. It CAN be done, just have to do it RIGHT. :D
Off to check emails and such, ya'll have a great day and be safe.

Good morning everyone. We are sure getting saturated here in Biloxi. It started to poor rain right after the official fireworks so all the personal fireworks waited until last night. The rain let up for a few hours in the evening. The law allows fireworks between the sea wall and the ocean along the 22 miles of beach. So Tyler and I went or a long walk along the beach and watched all the bottle rockets. It stopped raining (flash flood warning) for a bit this morning, so I took Tyler out. It is now pouring rain and will be most of the day. DH took a cab to a casino yesterday while I stayed home and probably will again today. We plan to rent a car when the weather lets up and do some site seeing. Everyone have a great day and stay safe. Aloha y'all

Almost afternoon here -- but hey, I needed the sleep.

I love fireworks. I'm thinking of going to the Detroit/Sarnia freedom festival next year -- but of course I think that every year, after it's too late! I haven't been there in decades, and I remember a spectacular display.

It was quiet here -- luckily, since The William is getting too old for fireworks. He was fine when he was younger, but they distress him now. Carolb -- Vermont, wow! Have fun! Sue, I know you're enjoying the UP; how was the Keeweenaw? Red, sorry about the rain. Ava, yes to the secret garden! I miss the one I used to have; they're lovely.

A grand day to everybody!

Well, better late than never for coffee... ;) It's been a busy few days here....1st getting settled along the Alleghany River near my home town....then visiting with the local Siblings after which our Friends, Andy & Gwen, from Darien, GA surprised us with a visit Weds. and left this morning.....we had the family down to the CG for the 4th for a picnic......Gwen & I finished off the 2 bottles of Susquehanna Sunrise wine Weds. night.... So skipped wine on the 4th and had 1 glass at supper out last night...lots of water and ice tea thou....  This morning after they left...I took the laundry up to my sister's to do....it took all day to do bedding, towels, and the usual clothes...it's been so humid all day, that the dryer took extra long to dry stuff...didn't get back here until after 6pm....ate supper, did the dishes, made the bed with clean sheets, put away the rest, and walked Spinner.....after I'm done here, I'm off to the shower to get rid of the sweat....

The humidity is so high that Ernie's had his very 1st episode of rough breathing....the man hates the A/C, but he needed it this afternoon along with his inhaler......Still needs it, but turned it off a few minutes ago....will sneak it back on again in a little while....being able to breath is worth the electric.... Geez....He really scared me...

Okay, I'm off to the shower....hope to say hello earlier tomorrow....

Hope everyone had a great day....
