Sarah, I am so sorry to hear all of this. Major point in this situation is you are not alone, trying to figure it all out. Poor Nicky, I know about dogs running out at you, I have been so lucky, especially two times, in picking Maggie up quick and not getting bit in the face. People don't think they need to keep their dogs on leash, they don't comprehend the rules of all parks. I run into those types all of the time, its very unsettling to me. Know way can you pick Nicky up, and like Mitch said he is the sweetest dog, its a shame he had this bad thing happen to him. Hope he is ok.

I have no answers to any of your other problems, I have had so many problems, but none of them any of these, so don't know answers for you. Now, I can tell you about gens not working right, brakes that never seem to get fixed, no matter how many times they're worked on, sensors,, even replaced that don't function right, A/C's that go bad, awnings that fly etc. etc. Some of these I had to deal with totally alone, so am so glad you had other minds to help you try to figure out some of the problems. Hoping you aren't to upset over any of it, it can all be fixed. Big problem is finding some place you have confidence in to look at this electrical situation. I think that needs to be checked out good.

Hope you can enjoy the rest of your stay there and the next site you're on is more level. I would not have parked my new rig on that site, but also having been in that area know the nearest walmart is not nearby. Some parks have overflow areas, its always worth a check. I've parked in some unlevel places but that looks bad !!! it should not be listed as an RV site, my opinion.

Ticks, I think are going to be a huge problem for all of us in any area of the country, this year. I really don't like them, scary thinking I might miss one in my hair, they have fallen off my head onto me while watching t.v. at night and all I can figure is they DO FALL OUT OF TREES when I have taken Maggie out back . Pants don't help your head, Mitch forgot hers   , but I rigged up a hat and cloth, an idea she came up with some time back, so that helps.

Other then missing the company at this GTG, its making me feel a wee bit better hearing that I have also missed the ticks, still sorry I couldn't make it.

Thinking of all you guys and especially Mr Nicky. (((( pat, pat, pat ))))). That was for Nicky. Hope there are no ticks out on the water. Glad that you got some good visits in with good company. The machinery can be fixed.....the memory of friendships are forever. :)

When I was at Grand Canyon in April, my site was so bad I had to put ONLY the back two dual tires up on 4-high of those leveling blocks. That was quite a feat to manage by myself. I did get it up the first try. It really looked funny to see only those back tires up so high, but it made it level and the fridge worked fine. I have 2 sets of 10 leveling blocks (plus about 6 from a set that isn't as good as the lego-type just in case) because it can take a lot sometimes especially when you have duals.

Sandi, could you give brand and maybe a link to the kind of leveling blocks you have? Sarah's troubles and your post about GC make me wonder if I should get some before I leave on my big adventure. I don't want to get out there alone and need them.

Hi Nikki: I got the Trailer Life set of 10 blocks from Camping World. I compared them with the Ramble brand and they appeared identical except you only get 8 with Ramble. Both are on sale now at Camping World and Trailer Life is cheaper for more blocks.

I had a similar set but not the same brand. Some if the edges broke off and then they wouldn't stack together which is why I changed to the Trailer Life ones. Have yours ever had that problem?

Sandi, I haven't had that problem and have had these since 2008. But in all honesty I have to also mention that I only use them for under the stabilizer jacks and use 2x4's under the tires when needed. They may not hold up as well when you're driving up on them, I didn't think about the different way we use them.

Thanks. I'll add both brands to the list and get one before I hit the road.

Sandy and Nicky took another long walk this morning in the opposite direction from their encounter with the mean dog yesterday. Sandy said the mean dog's owners and other bystanders were yelling at the mean dog, but at Camp GTG we missed it all. Sandy bought a hot spot yesterday at Walmart and got it working today.

We will put the kayak in tomorrow. There is a nice little launch right here in our campground. People in the campsite next to us put their kayaks in today and said the lake is great.

love the pictures, and poor Nicky. Hope he doesn't have any lifelong issues over this.
So sorry Sarah is having so many mechanical issues on this trip. Look out for the ticks!

What a fun gtg. I know your problems were frustrating, but at least you have people there to help!! Hope Nicky is not traumatized. I hate it when people let their dogs loose or very long tie outs. I have a pepper spray that I carry with me to stop other dogs from attacking.

I only had one set of blocks - no where near enough and I'm only using them under front tires. When I get home, plan to buy more (tried here but no where nearby sells them.

I did manage to get a couple of photos with Mitch in them last night

She did some ribs on grill, very good

Sadly Mitch left this morning. We miss her.
The rest of us have had a very laid back day enjoying the near perfect weather and working on getting Sandy's new MiFi up and running. Mission accomplished.

Was hoping I might get to move late today to a site closer to Linda/Sandy than the one I have reserved started tomorrow; sadly that fell thru. I do not like the location or the immediate surroundings of the site I have reserved but it is much more level than where I am and it was the only one available at time.

All in all still a great gtg.

I really can't believe they couldn't help you with leveling. I only have one set - have always managed to get level enough. Would be very upset paying for a campsite that I couldn't make it do, and they didn't help me to get there. I was at one cg where they loaned me some blocks of wood - mine would have worked, but they KNEW it was a bad site and were prepared - even had someone come out - as they knew where to place them. Why they didn't get the gravel in - but I guess it was on order.

I agree, Beth. Don't know if they are having a temporary staffing or budget problem or what might be going on but think the others would agree with me that this seems to be very poorly run campground. About half of the sites are walk-in only and there is a guy in the campground who oversees them. The remainder can only be booked thru Reserve America, KY. There is no one here or at the lodge to even talk to about the reservable sites. There is not even a check in when you arrive for a reserved site. Strange to say the least.

Things are looking up for me. Went back thru RA last this afternoon and was able to get a canceled site much closer to Linda & Sandy than the one I had reserved earlier. It's not real flat but is much more manageable plus L like it much better than other one. Should be able to move to it late morning. YEA!!!!!!!
