Oh, my kind of park, except for not being more level :D Gosh, launching area so far, is not good. The company is great though, wish I could have made it, to far, for as tired as I was at the time. Couple days earlier I was not that far away, oh well, next time.

Have a great time, I've been hoping for nice weather for you all. Have a great 4th !!!!

Sandy and Linda were kind enough to cook breakfast for everyone...

Abby wishing she could have some human food...

Linda taking hot biscuits out of the oven...

And last but not least, Abby getting some loving from her new Auntie, Linda. I forgot to tell her that Abby doesn't like to be picked up, and now she won't go near her. She'll get over it (Abby, that is).

Of course there's NEVER any pics of you, Dufus! Be careful with all those ticks, remember our Arkansas trip!

Did you find or even get a chance to look for any geocaches?

I didn't eat anything cuz I found a Mexican restaurant I want to try for lunch!

And I sure as heck am not geocaching with all these ticks (I left my long pants at home!)

Well, I'd be checking around the Mexican resaturant to see if there are any caches. They all don't have to be in the middle of nowhere, you know! ;) We found some in a city park in the middle of Bar Harbor, Maine, last week. Actually, all three we found were in town and not where we had to be concerned about ticks.

What a pretty spot and some great company! Sure would love being there, too! I have met all the others but Mitch and Abby, and am still hoping for that to happen before I croak!

Thanks for the pics, and have a wonderful time, y'all!

This is a very pretty park, the company fantastic, even weather good except for off and on rain; however, this trip may prove to be more "learning experience" than I want at one time. But before going into that, I am going to try to load Mondays photos (no Mitch too sneaky for me to get more than far away shot of her so far). Sorry if these come out too big, problem editing for now.

Generally where we are: Land Between the Lakes, KY

Image

The Mobile Marlin as seen from my site (look close, you might see Mitch)
Image

Linda & Sandy's site from mine. That is Linda on the deck
Image

My very steep site from other side than Mitch's earlier photo. More on this later (see Mitch's post under maintenance this AM also)
Image

Mitch, Linda and Sandy, Monday morning
Image

Nicky trying to be sure he is in the right spot if Sandy drops any food
Image

After breakfast Monday our mission was to get Linda her Senior Pass (drove over to LBL Wildlife Center for this
Image

Along the way we found the best launch area for the kayaking adventure later this week. It was being guarded by a small flock of geese.

Back to "lessons"
Ticks everywhere.

I've had to disable both fire and smoke alarms. Am assuming just battery problems. Will replace later today, now that I have new ones.

Outside electrical outlet and plug just inside door not working. None of us have figured that out yet. Both the other 2 plugs on opposite side of rig work okay.

Monday afternoon: suddenly no water. Faucet okay, removed filter, nothing, removed pressure regulator; have water again.

Monday night, notice temp in fridge is climbing steadily. By Tue AM, getting seriously warmer. Only thing we can think of is the severe angle at which Magic is parked (no other sites available here or any other nearby parks until the 4th; have reserved that one and it is flatter). I cannot go back home because my site at Ditto not available until 7th. Mitch generously offered the Blue Marlin; not real sure what I'm doing yet.

Linda found room in her fridge for my sandwich meat, salmon, and pasta salad. Had to toss all freezer food. Got ride to town with Mitch bought ice and coolers. Hope I have saved the dairy and fruit. Fridge turned off at forum members recommendations - thanks ladies.

Closet rod fell. Just left it for now. Don't care if clothes wrinkle.

Just before Mitch and I left for town, Nicky was attacked by another dog. Nicky was in middle of road - dog ran out and jumped him. So far, I have handled everything else without freaking out. But this incident came real close to doing me in this morning.

Will have to get Mitch back for that pix she took of me this morning before I had even combed hair. What to do?????

Other than scared, think Nicky is okay. At least there was no blood and he can still walk.

Sarah, in looking at the picture of your MH on your pad, I'm wondering if you could pull farther forward and eliminate some of the downhill slant. I know ... you might not have enough extensions to hook up to, but it might help solve the problem with your fridge. That's a serious downslope.

About your water pressure regulator ... That happened to me once, and after talking with my RV dealer-friend I found out that they DO clog. Sometimes backwashing them can help, but most of the time they just need to be replaced. Another thing that can happen is the "screens" on the end of the faucets can become clogged with gunk, especially if you don't have a filter on your water system OR the filter is so full it's letting gunk go through. I found this one out the hard way. But they're all easy fixes, so breathe deeply and enjoy. :)

And your outlet woes ... have you checked your breaker box? GFI outlet?

And poor Nicki! How traumatic for everyone! I hope the rest of your day has gone okay. Hang in there!

Sarah, holy cow! You sure are a trooper for hanging in there, especially through poor Nicki's mishap. It's wonderful that you're both OK. I hope the rest of your stay is quieter and you get all the problems solved. Sounds like Azusateach has a lot of good ideas for you. Yay road sistahs! (Did Mitch beat up the other dog?)

Sarah, these gtg's are how you find out how to take care some of the things that happen. Better to have it happen when you have friends near. I have had a pressure regulator clog up also. I think I carry a spare. Check for ground fault electric outlets like Laura said. I have 2 and if one trips some things don't work.

Why in the world would a park go to the trouble of paving a site that is so unlevel. Makes you wonder if the people that build them have ever camped.

Linda looks like a serious camp cook. She better look out we will all be following her around. ;)

Sorry NIcky got attacked, hope he is ok.

Thanks for the suggestions and all the encouragement.
Yes, I did check the breakers and GFI. Both appeared fine but I did reset just in case. Did not help.

I don't plan to let any of this deter me tho it can be a bit discouraging at times.
Actually think I'm at least a bit more concerned about how bad the ticks are here (they even have a flyer warning people not to stray into woods and go to hospilal if bit turns to bulls eye red) and about the dog that attacked Nicky. When the camp host returned this evening, I did report that and will not go in that direction again.

And thank you again --it is good that I have experienced camper friends here now and all of you to call on and/or vent when necessary. Hate that Mitch is leaving tomorrow but so happy she joined us for a few days.
I did get a couple more photos this evening but waiting until tomorrow to post.

Now if the wildlife will just ignore the coolers tonight things will be even better.

Good grief!!! So sorry so many things have gone wrong. You guys are troopers for staying there after all that, I think I would be headed down the road. There is no way you can keep ticks off in that kind of wooded area I do think they even fall from the trees! It's the speck sized ones that are especially creepy so be sure and keep checking for them even after you leave as it takes awhile for you to find them. I hope Nicky is ok and that they make the people with the dog that attacked him leave!
So is there any place besides Walmart one can camp without all the wonders of nature  I know at higher elevations there are no fleas, wonder if that also applies to ticks.

I read a blog this summer by a guy riding his bicycle across country on a route most bikers take, he said he was attacked by dogs more in KY than any other state. Several others who had also made the trip left comments that their experience had been the same.
