Good morning ladies
honestly, I've been up since 3:30, woke up hearing the sisters have a bit of a spat and both of them crying at each
other....have no idea what the story is, well, not all of it anyway but the sister is going home today. She asked me
if I would help her pack her oxygen machine in her car and she's got her tank ready for the 5 hour drive home. I love
them both but honestly they feed on each others disabilities and whatnot. Her medicaid social worker told her she
had too much money in her savings and she needed to pull some out and use it and document all of it and where it
went. Hallelujah, I told her that before when she was struggling with the past due house payment and she's trying to
get the modification on her mortgage. So now that's whats going to happen, if I can just keep her thinking forward
and not let her younger (no good drug addict) brother get a hold of her money with some sob story, we'll be good.
In reality, if all these siblings and their children sat in a room with Dr Phil, he would come out needing his own
therapist. And yes, I knew all this coming into this situation but knowing it all these years I see it without the
emotional tie they all have. So I'm good, I have no regrets. Will see what more I can accomplish before I go home.
On a happier note...the reunion was so much fun yesterday, seeing all the familiar faces and EVERYBODY remembered
who I was. :D Will see one of my other lifelong friends for lunch (think tomorrow maybe) and make some plans there
or just talk. :D
Also stopped by the cemetary yesterday when I was on the other side of town to visit and take a picture for some relatives.
That will make their day when they find out.
Its just about time I think everyone is going to start stirring soon so best get off here and be ready for any fallout. Ya'll
have a great day, good weather to ya's.

GOOD MORNING ALL!

Fathers' Day has dawned warm, 68 degrees out there already, and overcast. I am hoping for no rain, but we shall see!

Sounds as if you will have a fun day getting together with an old friend, Ava! Good thing you can keep your head straight when dealing with those spatting sisters!

Cpatin, have a great day with your granddaughter! I love being here with my grandson every day, too!

The Bopper and I had a fun night walking on the property and hauling his new wagon around, gathering rocks and treasures of all sorts! The blueberries, the early crop, should be ripe in about two weeks, at least enough to pick a few to utilize each day. Wiley, my kids' father, said he ran into two bears on the back of the first half of the property, back near Cold Brook. He said it looked like a mother and a yearling cub, who both jumped into the woods when they spotted him, followed closely by a large coyote hot on their trail who jumped across the trail right in front of him! I am so happy that we have more bears here, as for many years the neighbor who used to feed them to lure them in for a shot to kill pretty much cleared the entire tract of land of those beautiful creatures. I love the feeling of sharing this place with the wild ones.

Today I plan to tune up my guitar/zither antique instrument and practice a few tunes. I should also practice my fiddling, as I have not picked one up in a year or more.

Happy trails to all!
Life is about learning to dance in the rain
Happy travels!

Good morning all. It is a sunny, hot day for Fathers Day here. DH still sleeping. I went out and bought his favorite colaches and fresh squeezed OJ. He says they never did anything special for Fathers Dy in the past, so it's not a big deal. I tried to get his son to come over for brunch or dinner, but no go. It's a good thing they are holding the Shrine Circus awards banquet today, because it makes me feel like we're doing some thing special.

My father died in a plane crash when I was 5 years old. So I grew up with just my mom and brother. My two uncles were surrogate dads :P But I always felt so left out on Fathers Day. All my friends were doing things with their dads and families on Fathers Day. They use to have Father-Daughter banquets at school and one of my older cousins would go with me or my best friend's father would include me.

So when I had kids, Fathers Day became a big day to celebrate and we always had so much fun planning our adventures for dads day. Camping trips, a day of hiking, snorkeling, sailing, whatever the kids and dad wanted for their special day with dad. Now, it just feels wrong not to be doing something special and celebrate being a dad.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day. Be safe. Aloha y'all

Good morning everyone,
Nice overcast day today. Been awake since 2:30 or so - no arguing sisters here though, Ava - just couldn't sleep.
Glad you enjoyed your reunion, Ava & of course, they remembered you! Hope you have fun meeting up with your other friend today.
Soos, I love going to a family-owned berry patch here to pick blueberries - wish I could just go out in the field & get them. I always pick more than I can possibly eat, then freeze them & forget to use them. :(
Red, I'm sure your DH appreciates your special efforts today even if his kids don't participate - he's lucky to have you care so much. :)
I'm just continuing to slowly get the house in order & van ready for the trip west when DD gets a job & apartment. Ordered replacement stereo for the van yesterday - will be installed next Sat. :D May need to replace (van) house batteries - they are't holding a charge much longer than a few days. I need to be able to start the generator to keep the cats, dog & myself cool on the way west. I know many of you have recommended AutoZone - may have to find one & have them check them for me.
Today - more cleaning & doing some 'work' work to catch up after last week's meetings.

Hope everyone stays safe & enjoys whatever today brings.
Later...

Drizzly here, but I am up and adjusting to Central time zone. Feeling good, and am going to use this rest day to catch up on work and file some papers I got in the mail when I saw my son last weekend. Made a big mistake last night when I went outside after dark to figure out what bugs were making strange noises I had never heard in Michigan. Unfortunately, that let in a couple hundred bugs that were attracted to the light, so I used my electric bug zapper wand to sizzle them. Whatever these were, they were pretty dumb because it was easy to get them all. Then I had to wipe up all the bodies from the floor! No going outside after dark!

A big tree is blocking my satellite, so as soon as all the weekenders have left, I am going to scout around to see if I can find a site where I can get some TV reception, especially since Sunday is usually good in the evening.

This COE campground, Boulder on Carlyle Lake in Illinois has asphalt pads, lots of grass, and electric hookups for only $8 a night senior rate!! Great views from most sites of the lake also.

Fathers Day doesn't feel special to me because most holidays went pretty much unnoticed when I was growing up. When my Dad remarried his new family did special things but I was older & I didn't live with them. I think families that do special things, like you did with your children Red, gives them special memories and probably made for closer family ties.
Catherine those frozen blueberries would be really good on your cereal or in plain yogurt :) I freeze enough of them and grapes so I can have some every day. Helps get my fruit quota in now if I could just do better on those vegetables...
I am so glad our basement repair is finished!!! We now have a vapor barrier and a sump pump to keep an area of the basement that was left unfinished with a dirt floor as dry as possible. The workers found a big jug of homemade wine which they offered to 'dispose' of for us as they didn't think we should put it down the drain since it smelled so strong... ;) Would love to know how they disposed of it  We are the second owners and have lived here 15 years so I can't imagine it was still drinkable but ...I don't know that much about home-made wine.
Time to get ready for church. I hope everyone has a fun day,

Good Morning. BJ, you certainly take that old commercial “We will serve no wine before it’s time” to heart! Judy, those bug zapper wand are fun aren’t they? Last summer during our 4th of July camping trip our older/younger crowd (21+ single children) found all kinds of ways to entertain themselves with some shocking results! I think they had more sense and were less trouble when we took them camping as small children!

No big plans for Father’s Day here. Dennis is helping Ryan sort and load cattle to move them to pasture land in the middle of the state. Sean is out in the Black Hills working again this summer. So I’ll be holding down the fort alone today. I have plenty to do but haven’t quite gotten the ambition to start yet. Maybe another cup of coffee and a shower with motivate me. So with that I will just say “Have a great day and Happy Father’s Day to those mothers who filled two sets of shoes!”
My mind works like lightning...one brilliant flash and it's gone.

I bought one of those bug zappers at Walmart and if I hit a bug with it I have to step on it or it will fly away. The on switch is too far up the handle too. I should have brought it back to them. My sister gave me one that I need to see if it's any better. We have a lot of wasps that like our porch and carport to build nests on. I'm afraid to hit one with a flyswatter because if I miss I might make them mad.

We haven't had any squirrels around here in a long time but there are a couple hanging out across the road. They keep enticing the cats to cross the road and I don't like them in the road. I would put up some "Caution Kitties Playing" signs if I thought it would do any good. We live on a corner so vehicles have to slow down but some don't slow down much.

It looks like it could rain again. The past 2 days we have had showers pop up in the afternoon. At least it keeps it from getting to 100 degrees again.

Very late here but will chime in anyways!

Stopped this morning to visit my dad at the nursing home and gave him a card and a throw blanket, since he says he is always chilly.
Then went to his house to put up my tent. Not sure if it was that I am not feeling quite up to snuff yet, or the heat, or the millions of ginormous mosquitoes, but I layed the tent out on the ground and decided it was too big of a project for me, now and at a campground in the future. Put it all back in the box and listed it on Craig's List. Found an "instant" set-up tent at Walmart that goes up in 60 seconds. The tent I have, has a screened in porch attached to it, so I decided I will also get the "instant" screened in porch that I can set up next to the new tent. Will be nice to not have to spend a lot of time putting together a tent, etc. when I go camping, if it is hot, buggy and./or raining.

Also checked out the sites at the campground I am going to in a couple weeks. It is very nice with good sized sites and lots of trees next to a large lake with a swimming beach and lots of bike trails.

Then drove about an hour northwest to a small town with a Walmart store and did some shopping there. When I came out, the sky to the west was black and ominous so I hightailed it back home as it followed me in hot pursuit! Barely got home when the winds picked up to about 60 mph. Boy did the boats on the lake make a hasty run to docks, to get off the water! !There were even whitecaps on our little bay here. However, the storm itself fizzled out and we got hardly any rain. I could sure see a ton of rain coming down behind me when I left Walmart!

Anyways, I better get to bed!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)
