Wet Tuesday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Wet Tuesday

Postby carolb » Tue Jun 11, 2013 6:23 am

Good morning all :D

Wonder how many more days we can carry on the "wet" subject line  Thinking of you Liz--hope it's a little nicer down the road for your GS gtg! But yes, gardens are loving this!

Was checking out maps for the Ferry Boat gtg. Can't wait! My bro brought me a couple books on Gettysburg where I plan to stop on my return trip. Looks like I'll need a week or more for the trip, and I'll take whatever I need. Like some of you, I still get that "get home fast" rush--just an old habit from all my car travels. Need to remember my "home" is with me!

Beth, hope you feel better! That must be a really bad cold or whatever--having not missed a day of work in 20 years!!! Glad to hear you've got some good weather up there!

So today is more inside stuff--mostly my spring cleaning! Y'all have a great day & safe travels always! 8-)

GOOD MORNING ALL, and wet it is here, too.

I was reminded by my friend, Richard, about the use of my wireless signal amplifier to be able to get a strong enough signal from the inside of my house here in the trailer. It was designed for the Windows XP on my old laptop, and the Gsky site no longer had any upgraded drivers. However, after spending at least an hour or more looking for a free driver download for Windows 7, I somehow got onto a question asked by someone else, and a great response from someone leading me to a Realtech driver which works on here! YIPPEE! I now have three bars and a fast connection, so I am set. What a relief.

I actually managed to get in and out of the DMV yesterday with only a few trips back to the truck for more papers and stuff needed to make the change from temp FL plates to NY State plates. I was amazed that I survived it as the DMV has always had a way of turning me into a raving maniac! I was ecstatic! (Other than the fact that I had to pay 836 bucks for the NY State part of the sales tax on the truck----FL tax is exactly half of what NY's is. Sigh----had to put it on a credit card for now.)

Then I also managed, after about an hour phone call, to get a tech from Direct TV to come and install a wire and another receiver that I can bring out here to the trailer, as I am quickly getting tired of the three branches of our PBS over-the-air channels I am now getting....one of them is a kids' channel, and I can take just so much of Barnie.

Then Mandy and I set up (with Orion's help) two adjacent, adjoined screen rooms so we can comfortably sit outside and avoid being eaten by the black flies.

Mowed lawn, new license plates, receiver coming, screen rooms up, grocery shopping sort of done, one load of laundry done----I'm good!

However, it has rained hard and steadily and hard all night long and is still raining out there. Oh well---awning is up, screen tents are up, what the heck. More shopping today with Mandy and Joe's grandma who needs help as she is wheelchair bound---I will take Boppy ( my name for Orion----short for BeeBopper) so Mandy can help Grandma.

Hope you all have a decent day!
Life is about learning to dance in the rain
Happy travels!

Good Morning All, Beth, hope you are feeling better today. Glad your boss could give you the days off. It is "clearing" now, and sun coming out for another beautiful day. No rain here.

I did not get on the computer yesterday. Am having trouble with the Calif Franchise Tax Board!!! It seems I still owe $200 on 2012 state taxes!! Will work on it again this morning. Very nice young man talked with me yesterday. Was patient with my bumbling around in my records. I think I keep such good records until something like this comes up! GADS......

Have a great day everyone...lyn

Morning from hot and steamy Texas. I think summer is here with a vengeance now. We've had storms the last several days so there is so much moisture around, you almost need gills first thing in the mornings. And I'm sure by the weekend the mosquitoes will be out with bloodsucking on the mind.

Beth - I hope you are feeling better soon. It's no fun being sick.

Well, I need to start some more planning. My loose plans for the first weekend in MI may be changing and there may be a GTG in the works.

Good morning, it is sunny and supposed to get very warm the next couple of days, just hope the weather people are right when they say only a couple of days near 100 :!:
Not much here, started another hypnosis class last night but it may not meet the enrollment number needed :( I guess everyone is too busy to take summer classes they said enrollment was not looking good for all the evening classes. The instructor will be 93 this fall and has so much experience (over 54 years) I want to learn as much from him as possible. He was a medic in WWII and talked last night about being in Africa on D Day. He is still quite active and when I asked if he wanted to practice using Skype he said he just doesn't have much time to be on the computer right now. He still delivers meals on wheels. I hope I can be that active if I make it to my nineties!
Soos sounds like you had a good day and I know you are so happy to get to spend time with the Bopper. Beth hope you are feeling better.
Hope everyone has a good day.

I sure wish I could get to the PA get-together. I'm really looking forward to photos and stories here!

Carolb, I think you will really enjoy Gettysburg; it's a wonderful site. NPS has been doing some replanting to return the Park to its 1863 condition -- for example, the Peach Orchard is a peach orchard again, even though the trees are really young. There's an excellent bus tour (I think it operates out of the old visitor center building) -- all the guides are historians, and each brings an individual expertise to the tour. I take it every time I'm there, and I learn something new each time. Besides, the Park is a really beautiful place!

I see that I'm blathering on. Think I'll shut up now. :D You have fun!

Good Morning. Weather here is slightly cloudy today with a light breeze. Will be in the upper 60's..works for me today.

Soos, I know the DMV can drive a sane person to have a psychotic episode in record time. I just had my experience there last month. All is well now tho.

I am heading to Roadmaster to have them check out my tow bar. It is really hard to push in the extension bars and it shouldn't be that hard. I bought it used so maybe the previous owner tweeked them somehow. One is easier than the other but since they have a lifetime warranty and will do it for free...I AM THERE. Just have to plan my trip so that it is not in rush hour traffic.

Had dinner last night with a previous nurse manager from one of my travel assignments. She tried her darndest to get me to come to work for her for 4 weeks. It just didn't happen for me. I have way too much planned. I have summer camping to do!!!! But still very flattered that she asked me. She accepted my NO, HELL NO gracefully....we had a good laugh, it was fun.

Thanks for the get well wishes. I can say this has allowed me to catch up reading the forum. So not all bad. But I don't wish this as they way any of you do catch up.

Its another amazingly sunny day here. At least I notice it as Peaches gets her shortened walks. She's being such a champ about it, too.

Have a great day everyone.

good morning ladies
have gotten lots accomplished in the last couple days. Finally got the medicaid thing wrapped up and now waiting to hear
something from them. Doctor appt tomorrow to get the prothestic resized or whatever, now that swelling has gone down
the leg doesn't fit right.
Planted some strawberries and some african lilies and the roses are getting ready to blossom.
Hope Beth feels better soon, no fun to get a cold.
Maggie is doing fine, really loving the grass, afraid of the cat and just today the cat finally is getting brave enough to get
close by. Funny part is the cat strikes out at Maggie as she has her back turned and I can see the cat laughing about it.
She doesn't do it if the dog is looking at her. Poor Maggie. Guess she has always had a reason to be afraid of cats.
Getting ready to make a run to the hair cut place as she wants her hair cut.
That will probably wipe out all her energy for the day.
Gotta get my laundry done today and decide what I'm going to wear to the reunion on Saturday.
Will check in with ya's as I get time. Have a great day.

That's cats for you, Ava. They are sneaky. Our old lady cats were letting the 2 younger cats get away with a lot but they have started putting them in their place. They will still try a slap if they think they can get away with it. I make all the house cats come in at dark and it takes the 2 young ones an hour of chasing and fighting to settle down. I just got back from Lafayette. I was trying to find our old cat a food she will eat and not throw it up. I was probably wasting my time. She turns her nose up at most things.

Boy, was it ever hot. The humidity is about 100%. I don't know what we are going to do when it gets to 100.

Was supposed to be a beautiful sunny day today, but not to be. More clouds with off and on rain all day. It is warmer tho now, near 80, so with the rain, makes things very sticky.

All my plans got washed away with the rain, but I ended up spending half the day with my dad at his doctor's office anyways. Then came home and took a nap for 4 hours. Then dropped my Jeep off at my mechanics shop to get the brakes checked and a few other thngs looked at tomorrow.

Wanted to go shopping for camping things today but just am not too motivated with all this rain. Still need to set up my tent before I go camping to see how easy it goes up and get it waterproofed. I did buy 2 cans of waterproofing spray tonight for it. Now if it would stop raining long enough to put the tent up!

Still suffering from allergies/cold symptoms. Getting tired of that too. I think I have an allergy to mold so this rain isn't helping that any. I never sneezed at all when I was living in CA, probably because it was so dry there.
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Sorry, Barbie - for most of us, that's a night's sleep, NOT a nap.
