Soggy Sunday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Soggy Sunday

Postby Redwahine » Sun Jun 02, 2013 6:46 am

I was sound asleep having a wonderful dream and kaploowie, splat, .......pouring rain, thunder and lightening. Took a few minutes to figure out if it was real or in my dream!! Well, I'm awake now!!! Watching the rain. It's coming down so thick I can't even see RED in the driveway :!: Tyler was whining and fussing to go out....so I let him out. He went to the wall of water falling from the eaves and made an abrupt stop. Did a couple circles and whined. Then darted out, did his bizz and ran back in soaking wet :P Don't know what today will bring, but I need coffee. So, good morning to all. Hope your weather is better than here and you enjoy the day. Stay safe. Aloha y'all

Morning Red and all who follow,

Wow, sure sounds like things are a little wet down in your neck of the woods Red. We caught the edge of a severe thunderstorm here last week and it rained so hard that it sounded like nails hitting the house from the wind blowing it. It's cool and damp here this morning too. Cool front coming through, dropping us back into upper 50's and 50's for this week. Will probably have to cover my flowers tonight, as I think frost is predicted.

After all the excitement of last week, nothing to report this morning. Same old, same old. Will be heading out in a little while to grocery store for some more ground beef for dogs food. Or I guess I should say Sassy's food as Tessa isn't eating much if anything these days. Then may work in yard later on. Need to mow grass, but too wet right now. Probably tomorrow instead.
Will spend week waiting for my Flex to be repaired and news on my TT's arrival.

Soos, I know you are planning on heading back to your northern home tomorrow morning. Safe travels to you. Maggie, I see you plans for visiting in Detroit are not going as you hoped. My offer still stands, just let me know.

Guess I will go read posts. Have a nice day all.

Good morning all, I wish we had some of that rain here. Its cool, O'cast and the sun will be out later. Well, we are a desert!!!

My Grandson is running in a road race this morning...all over downtown. The spectators are gathering at 6 AM.

What great softball games yesterday on TV.

I was happy to hear from my nephew in Jenks, OK that he and his family had NO storm damage from Friday nights horrible weather.

Everyone, have a happy Sunday. lyn

Good morning gals! Beautiful sunny day here today! Finally a day without rain in the forecast. Unfortunately, I have to work all day. I have tomorrow off tho and it is also supposed to be nice like this. Been really lucky so far to have had nice weather on all my golf days. Will try to get time to go for a bike ride tomorrow too.

Those storms down south sure have been awful and relentless! We have been very lucky here, as those lines of storms moving up this way have all skirted us to the east into Wisconsin, so just rain here. The lake is now at a good level, and is actually now slightly over my dad's retaining wall down by the dock. My dad was happy to hear that, since the two dock renters have plenty of water to park their boats now.

Nothing much new with my dad. He is going in for a couple of tests this week to see if either the catheter or feeding tubes can be removed yet. Will know more at the end of the week and then will meet with the staff at the nursing home to determine what to do with him next.

After meeting with a lawyer last week, it was discovered that the house will be in our (my 2 brother's and I) names when my dad goes into a nursing home permanently, but also his name stays on it. So that means that Medicaid can take his 1/4 of the house to pay for his nursing home costs. We didn't know that his name would stay on the house as well. My brother is going to get an appraisal on the house to see what market value is right now before we make any decisions on selling or not. First, tho, we need to get my dad settled somewhere.

Ava and Soos; have a good, fun, safe trip! Take your time and enjoy the journey!

Anyone heard from Dawn? Besides the tornadoes in that area, there was a lot of flooding as well.
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Good morning all :D

Quite an awakening Red! We had the same here around 8 a.m.; fortunately I had made my trip to the "church of capitalism" (aka WM!) & was home by then. Storms so horrible this year! Unreal what's happening in OK still!!! Won't complain about the storms that are on their way here for this afternoon....

Donna, I saw where Red responded to your M&T question, as did I--you'll be fine. I don't know of anyone who uses their "fresh water" tank for "fresh" water, ie for drinking/cooking  Just don't trust it, right?

Think I will actually have a day of rest today! Those of you on the road, travel safely! To all, have a great day! 8-)

Beautiful cool morning here and supposed to be nice with low temps and low humidity for a few more days. Hoping it last until next weekend I'm wanting to go on a short camping trip with some members of our church. Maybe will get another chance to try a kayak, haven't decided if Toby is going or staying home with DH. The campground is close to home so if he freaks out being left behind DH can bring him to me. He is well behaved with DH only as long as I am here. :?
I hope we hear from Dawn and any others who were in the path of these storms. The weather is just crazy. Red it sounds like you had a rude awakening by the storm. Poor Tyler at least he was brave enough to go out, two of mine would have been plastered on my lap. So far Toby doesn't pay thunder or storms any attention thank goodness.
I better get moving or I'll be late again for church.

This is just my personal opinion so not trying to start an argument. Carol, I do use my fresh water tank for everything. I was hesitant, but with 2 filters and constant use, I have no problems with it. Different perhaps for those who only use the fresh tank occasionally, but I prefer using the water pump so I have decent water pressure. Believe me, I was very hesitant at first!

I use my fresh water tank for cooking when I don't have water hook-ups. I also use it for washing dishes. I almost always have bottled water for drinking. That's because I keep them in an ice chest usually since my refrigerator is so small.

I woke up to rain this morning but evidently not the deluge that Red experienced. It was actually under 70 for a little while this morning.

I took Oscar to the vet yesterday. He's been doing some heavy-duty panting - just standing there and panting. They did x-rays and some testing and didn't really find anything other than old age. He does have a slightly enlarged heart but had heartworms when I first got him so the vet thought it might be due to that. And he has some calcification in his lungs that he thinks is due to old age. And Oscar has lost 6 pounds in the last 6 months. He really doesn't need to lose any more.

I really need to go to the gym. I need to get on the bike.

Good morning!

I wish it was soggy here! I know, I know...a lot of you go to a heck of a lot of work to winter here, and to get to stay permanently, but I want my 4 seasons! Originally from Chicago...got a lot of those here too...Go Cubs!

Anyway, Tyler IS brave! Mine won't do that in bad weather. Gotta have a pee pee pad down anyway, for the persnickety older Shih-Tzu (the one pictured with me ).

I love it when Monsoons hit around here, but Lilly (the one is the pic), and the Chihuahua (the youngest; Charlotte) are afraid of them. The other Shih-Tzu just trusts us to take care of her, and doesn't fret much. Her name is Binky. She's a new rescue from just last summer. Binky has yet to take a trip with us...hopefully she'll get her chance this summer.

Because of her I bought a Doggy-Ride. It's so cool. It's both a bike trailer and a stroller. I bought a bigger size to fit all 3 of them together. But I made a divider for the inside because Lilly turns into "The Growliator" whenever the other dogs get too close to her.

I hope those of you in tornado country are faring well. My father lives in the Ozarks, but it's hilly enough over his way that since 1975 when he moved there...he has not experienced one tornado close to him...amazing!

Have a great rest of the day, All!

How old is Oscar? And what kind of dog is he?

Good afternoon all. The weather has finally settled down here. The last round of tornadoes passed us by, thank goodness. We just had a lot of thunder and lightening until around 2AM. All is good here. They did report on the news that the ground is so saturated that there is a lot of flooding in the OKC area. They also reported that all 7 deaths from the last round of tornadoes were to those that were in their vehicles. Good info to remember for next year. We are out of severe weather officially, but one never knows what a good T-storm will produce. Bad news for all you Gulf state and east coast residents, June 1st was the start of hurricane season. It just never stops, does it?
For all those on the roads, drive safely. Linda

Ha! In the REAL City part! Near North Side. On Roscoe and Newport I think.

Here in AZ I'm always meeting people who say they are from Chicago, and I tease them; no you're not...you have to be from the real city part to be a real Chicagoan
