So true!

I stopped and looked at an 05" Minnie Winnie, w/ 2 slides today...nice!

Anyway, the guy said Gulf-streams were on everybody's black list these days, but he admitted he hadn't heard of the Visa. Plus he said TTs were really big right now too, so...

Of course I'm not going to jump on the first one I see...LOL! Though I think the guy may have known I was drooling a little!

Gulfstream isn't on my black list - it's what I have. There are those who love them, those who hate them. Winnebago is a big name that many love, I am not such a big fan ... so don't be swayed by that - but do be swayed by the construction, etc. Gulfstream IS not high end by any means. But for what I paid, I couldn't ask for better.

Just a thought also, like auto salesmen tend to downplay the value of whatever you want to trade in, the RV salesman may be doing the same.

Well he did an interesting thing; he both downplayed, and up-played; saying that the GS was making enemies, and that TTs were hot right now. It could be because he was the owner of the lot...not a hired salesman...IDK.

He also admitted what you all were saying earlier that since my TT is newer...it might be more difficult.

BTW, I noticed there are a lot of RVs for rent by private owners on Craigslist around here...I might try that for my first trip.

I have a small Gulfstream B-Touring 22 ft MH. What Beth said. It isn't exactly the top of the line but my cabinets are made from real wood....some are not.....Any of the manufacturers can make lemons...just depends on who showed up for work that particular day the rig went down the line and how attentive (or not) they were.

Other than that 30 amp fuse (for an adjustable drivers chair that my unit did not have) that was shorting out and draining the rig battery  my unit has been just fine! And it only took a few years to find the drain. I used to have to turn my rig on and run it for awhile every day or other day when out camping.... (Or depend on nice people like Sunshine Cruiser to come jump the battery. :) )

I'll pass on the advice I got on this forum when my DH died and I was stuck with a very large MH with 3 slides and large payment. We had only had the rig 7 months!

I posted my dilemma on this forum when I couldn't sell it any place! Next morning I had 2 pages of replies from the wonderful women. All said about the same thing: Get out from under and get a rig that's right for you. Find a rig you like at a dealer that will work with you. Take the financial hit and don't look back.

Because of their encouragement, I found my terrific Flitter (Class C) and traded in the monster. Is my loan upside down? Oh, yea. Will I ever get Flitter paid off? Probably not. But I have had 6 wonderful years camping in her and the payment is half what I was paying for that huge lawn ornament that I knew in my heart I would never drive.

It may not be your solution, but it was the right choice for me. The hassle of trying to sell on my own was too stressful. Good luck!

Wow! Great stories!

My trouble is that I've still got DH to deal with...if he doesn't want to sell this TT...we're stuck with it.

But I can get my own...by golly!

Pooker, we got this TT because neither of us would ever be comfortable with a giant rig, nor a giant payment. And we had been without an RV for 10 years at that point. It was kind of overwhelming seeing how the RV products had changed in that time. We wanted to go cheap as possible coming back into it. Plus, we figured if we were going to get a TT...get a new one, because they deteriorate faster than MHs do. What I hadn't bargained on was that he would make it impossible for me to just jump in and go on my own...like I would have been able to do with our last MH.

Both of us also thought that down the road we would again get a bigger rig for full-timing. But I want to travel way more than he does (or CAN because of his job). Plus, I HATE having to wait on other people to enjoy life...it causes me way too much stress.

"I HATE having to wait on other people to enjoy life..."

There are valid reasons that have make folks "put off" following our hearts and dreams..... but over all I want to make sure mine are real reasons and not excuses. I have know too many that never got past the dreaming to the pursuing. Their dreams off the ground because of health reasons, because they were too risk aversive, because, because, because............ As that quote reminds us most of our regrets are things not attempted, tried or done. Most of the other attempts no matter how they come out make the interesting stories, memories and..... the laughter.....

Boy...you hit the nail on the head, Birdy! IDK if it's because of being female in a patriarchal world, or what, but throughout my marriage....in spite of the stress and unhappiness it caused me, I would defer to DH needs/wants...thinking things like "Well...he makes the money...my needs are less important," and put my own on the back burner. THEN when I speak up...there's anger and the Silent Treatment.

Well, I'm making some $ now...and that sure boosts me up...so it was really all about that? Geez...I can't believe life is still so confusing after all these years...

I try to look at my past trials and tribulations as positive learning experiences...because after all, I AM a better person for it, so I must have learned something..right?

So for all that I deserve some enjoyment just for me...ya know?

Seems to me that the best solution for now is to get a different hitch setup. A 19' liteweight tt should not need that heavy a system.
If your hubby does not want to give up his control over you then see about getting your own rig. There are nice class Bs out there.

Thanks...I haven't seen any except the Sprinters, and the Roadtreks. The Roadtreks I noticed don't come with generators, or they have a mini/micro generator.

Do you guys know what that is?

My Roadtrek had a regular Onan generator...it wasn't micro.

There was a compartment big enough for it in there? Wow!

You don't have the Road Trek anymore?

Sigh, no... You can read about it here: http://www.wheresliz-2012.blogspot.com/2012/03/climbing-that-mountain.html

I now have a 25' Class C and just started towing a Honda Fit.

Oh Liz, what an ordeal! And boy, it sure does pay to have good friends!

I'm so sorry about Bandit. I think that would get to me most of all. I currently have 3 tiny dogs, a box turtle, and 2 Amazons. I live for my animals...literally...I'm also a professional pet sitter :D

I'm guessing that you loved that Road Trek?
