Does anyone have this portable antenna and use it with DirecTV?

I purchased on in FL and the Wingard receiver but went with Dish......was told I could purchase service month by month with Dish. Depending upon the trees I found service most of the time..... :)

I'm a tad confused. You purchased the satellite antenna shown above, and bought a WINEGARD receiver? Do you mean you bought a Dish receiver that was being sold by Winegard?

I know that Dish has a Pay-As-You-Go plan, which is great. But I already have Directv at the house and have traveled with a big, ol', hard-to-aim, bulky, clunky satellite dish...PITA.

I'm trying to find out more info about Directv's TOTAL CHOICE MOBILE...and how well this antenna works at locking into a directv signal (I know it doesn't work with HD, only SD). Supposedly works in most of MX...

I have this Carryout antenna and use Direct TV. I used it with the 5th wheel. It is excellent finding and locking in on the satellite. Just plug it in and it whirs and spins and then you have TV. I do not have the mobile acct. We put a Diredt TV dish on the house and set up a residential acct. We just take the receiver from the house with us in the RV and connect it to the Winegard Carryout antenna.

Now that does sound more like the answer to Mitch's question. (You would have been shocked, I say shocked, this past week listening to Mitch's mutterings as she tried to connect Sarah up to her dish's....) Easy works!

Mitch, I have that dome, and I use it with Direct. If you were trying to use it with Dish, there are some little switches inside the dome that need to be moved in order for it to work. Or you can buy it already set up to work with Dish -- they come both ways.

Thanks, Red. That's a good answer!!! Tina was so right - Grrrrrr on trying to get a regular dish (1 OR 3 LNBs hooked up (neither worked)), although I think I figured it out today - I was using an HD receiver. Got NOTHING - NOT A PEEP. Today, tried with my only SD receiver. Got a signal right away. I know the Carryout doesn't work with HD on Directv (works HD with Dish), but I really don't care - SD will work just ducky in the MM and for guests who come to visit. Or i could tap out some morse code for the latest news headlines...

Now, to convince myself that it would be a GREAT Birthday Present to me.

We are thinking of selling the Winegard Carryout antenna that we used with Direct TV. We bought it in January and used it for one trip out to AZ. Only used it a few times on the trip. We bought the new motorhome in Feb and it has a built in satellite dish on the roof. Bought new for $650. If anyone is interested PM me.

Yes, I have it with DirecTV. It sets up easily and after the first few times I used it, it tells me it finds no signal which is BS. Just have to ignore it because all is well.
