RV covers?

I am checking out rental spaces for our travel trailer (when we get it). Las Vegas is just dang expensive!! But then I already knew that. Covered spot starts about $150 a month, garage type is way up there, I found an uncovered for $38. I can live with $38. So the next issue is a cover/tarp for my trailer. Does anyone have any suggestions? I have been looking at a few online. I have a couple in mind. Of course I need something that can withstand our gross heat and wind. At $300, I don't really want to replace it every couple of years. Unless that is the life of these covers.
Any thoughts?

Shelly, you can do a search on the forum about RV covers, there are several threads about it. From what I remember, most people prefer not to use them because of mold & damage to the RV.

Check out the covers at Camping World. I had one on my TT for two years and it was great. Kept it clean and was easy to access the inside if need be. My friend who is here right now also has one for hers and loves it. I will definietly buy another one if I get another TT.

Just my own personal experience: I live in So. Calif. where sun beats down and it's very windy. Our Rv was parked in the yard with no shade. We bought a nice cover from Camping World. However, I believe the cover, moving back and forth in the wind, rubbed the graphics and finish off the sides. No matter how we secured the cover, there was a certain amount of movement. We had a major mess by the second season and eventually had the whole rig redone - new graphics, gel coat replaced, paint touched up, etc.

So, personally I would prefer to keep the rig washed and waxed and uncovered.

Similar to what happened to our 5th wheel when we lived in Alaska only it rubbed the top corners badly. We really had it tied down, too.

Shelley, The rig that had the cover was a few years back before my DH died and we never did cover our Class A's after that. Currenty, Fitter is parked in a storage lot where I live and has never been covered. I used to have her detailed about once a year at one of the resort parks where a couple of detail companies were allowed in. However, my RV repair guru said I had a lot of cracks in my roof that he had to repair. He admonished me to NEVER allow anyone to tromp around on my roof again! Unfortunately, although I keep promising her a good wash and wax, I never seem to have the time, energy, desire, to do it. Just yesterday I noticed some graphics cracking around the edges. Sigh. Damned if ya do, damned if ya don't.

I had the ADCO cover from Camping World as does a friend of mine and neither of us have had an problem with the cover rubbing off paint or decals. We both love them.

In wet climates mold and mildew can and will grow under those covers. On cars they recommend car covers be removed after every rain ... make sure the car is dry and the car cover inside is dry before replacing it. So, for that reason, I wouldn't recommend using them in the climates with rain and snow. Others have said about climates with dry air. Personally, I'm not for them ... saw lots of car damage from bras and moisture trapped under them when they were so popular. Rarely see them anymore.

My trailer sits in my driveway with no cover. I do try to give it a good bath every so often. And yeah, the graphics are starting to fade just a little - but with our humidity, it would be a real mess.

Oh, I am in such a quandary.....I think I will try covering it. The sun out here is horrible. We don't get a whole lot of moisture, the sun and heat is going to be the problem. I was thinking of maybe tucking some pool noodles between the cover and the trailer. Maybe that would keep the cover from rubbing on the trailer.

We had a cover on our 40' Class A while it was in storage a couple of winters ago. There was a big storm with straight line winds that tore the cover off and in the process tore the vents off and the cover damaged the roof so badly we had to replace the roof. Going to leave it uncovered from now on. Luckly for us insurance cover the new roof.

Good news! We were able to reserve an indoor storage! We know it's early, but we couldn't pass up the price. Sure beats the damage that could be caused due to the Vegas heat. Thanks again to everyone's input!
