Sunday in CT

Postby carolb » Sun May 19, 2013 5:30 am

Good morning all :)

Typing on my cell so this will be short. At a cg with Peggy and 4 other Roadtrekkers. All great ladies, so I'm happy Peg invited me! Will be here another day or two. So peacful, surrounded by forest!

Before I forget, yes, Soos, I'll betraveling around the New England area this summer. Brenda, I'll also be making a trip toMD after the ferryboat gtg. So I should be seeing both of you this summer :)

Kathleen, sorry to hear of your hospital visit and I do hope all is well. Sarah, I didn't realize you were still ailing--that's been going on too long, so I hope you get better soon, too!

Tigg is doing great--doesn't even seem to be bothered by his stitches and makes his little jumps in and out oof the rv with no problem. Thanks for asking. BTW, animals outnumber people in our group--5 humans, 6 dogs and one cat LOL!Looks like
our day will consist of walking dogs and eating good food. Y'all have a great day !! :) Cursor jumping around, so this may be all mixed up !

Good Morning
It is muggy and foggy this AM. Nicky and I spent the night in Magic and are now trying to get act together to leave town. Not looking forward to driving all day as bad as I feel but keeping the end goal in mind and looking forward to visiting with friends by this evening. A change of scenery and maybe climate should go a long way in helping me feel better.
Now if I can just remember what all I have to do before pulling out. Have to wait for the fog to lift a bit anyway.
Have a good day.

Good morning everyone.
Dreary and cool here this am.
I have been busy power washing the decks these past few days. Glad I got that done now when the rain stops I can stain them. Yesterday my neighbor came over and helped cut down some saplings growing too close to the house. With them gone it certainly opens up the view.

Off to work on the inside of the rv in preparation for travels in June and beyond.

Y'all have a great day and safe travels to those on the road.

good morning ladies
car is all detailed inside and I went over to the kia dealer and ordered the part to repair my power window. It should
come in Tues or Wed and scheduled to get the work done on Fri after the half day school is out. Been working on a list
of things to pack. This is the first time I've ever done a road trip in such a small vehicle, but I can work around that.
Also trying to decide where I want to book a room. Been reading reviews and checking prices of accomodations on the
road. So far I think $39 is my best price and thats with my senior discount, and of course dog friendly. (extra $10 for dog)
No decisions on that just yet.
Need to run over to the fifthwheel and drop off some stuff and grab my little coffeemaker, plugs into my cigarette lighter
thingy. It makes two cups of coffee in its own cup but it was also useful for making hot water to wash my face or mix up
dog dinner. Thinking about all this, really missing my van but keeping in mind this time next year I most likely will have
my rv.
Doing up more laundry today, my light jacket and a few cold weather clothes and those will be packed and ready to go.
Well, now I'm starting to ramble and think out loud so guess I better get dressed and get a movin. Ya'll have a great day
and be safe and good weather to everyone. :D

GOOD MORNING ALL!

Yesterday Goog and I went to a place called "Wild Florida" on some passes I downloaded and paid for months ago with a huge discount. It's a beautifully run animal park on a huge, beautiful lake in the middle of nowhere, but not far from here! They have Grant's zebras, water buffalo, wild FL boars, goats, sheep, whitetail deer, tons of aligators, a gorgeous cedar swamp walk on boardwalks, some other kind of buffalo, tropical birds, pheasants, and many more creatures, all in nice, large, shaded, clean areas with sun shelters and water. I usually cringe at visiting such animal parks for fear of the bad conditions the poor animals live in, but this place is stellar as far as I was concerned. The have a boat launching dock to go out and catch huge bass in the lake, airboat rides (I hate airboats----way tooo noisy for me) a nice little knick-knack shop, cold drinks, barbecued stuff----all in all a wonderful visit! I have many more pics which I will try to share when I get them smallered and uploaded to photobucket, including a feeding frenzy by the gators in a video! Petting a one-year old zebra foal was amazing! Owner was taking him for his daily walk on a leash----you can tell the owner loves his critters!

Then we went to this Runnymeade County Park to walk amidst a piece of old Florida with a gigundous grove of live oak trees, with cicadas serenading us on the spectacular trails beneath the moss-draped trees. Again, I will upload more pics when I have the time to get to them.

Last night Melissa took her parents to the music concert in Orlando starring an old one of the Beatles, which they LOVE! Goog and I sat out under the stars and awning of the trailer, sipping cold beers and getting caught up on pieces of our past lives-----a most enjoyable mother-son time.

Hope you all have a happy Sunday in mid-May.

Love that tree photo, Soos.

I made it to a lovely COE campground on the east KY/TN line and have a wonderful lake front site.
Except for one nasty severe thunderstorm about half way up here, the drive wasn't too bad in spite of not feeling up to par. My not so trusty GPS would not take the address but it with some help from a map got me close enough to find it well before dark. Love these longer daylight hours.

Hi Carolb, if you are in New England this summer, I would be delighted to see you if you'd like to stop by. I'm in Salem, MA, north shore (north shore of Boston). Cape Ann is a treat. Cape Ann Camp Site is in a wooded area, right near the water. It's an old camp site, but I liked the owner when I went up there to check things out. If you don't need things spiffy modern, you're fine and I believe it's about ~$40/night.

Happy to hear about this Cape Ann Campsite! I spent all my summers at Plum Island, MA, just north of Cape Ann! The lighthouse light blinked me to sleep each night! I will have to check that out----would love to go back and check out Newburyport, too, where my mother and her parents were born. I love that northern coast! I will let you know if I decide I can afford the trip, and maybe we can meet there?
