Cloudy Saturday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Cloudy Saturday

Postby Colliemom » Sat May 18, 2013 7:45 am

Good Morning all,

Boy, from looks of Friday's posts and even those earlier in the week, sure nobody posting much. Guess all are too busy this time of year. Am enjoying those who do though.

Barbie, glad to hear your father is settled down in nursing home. Hope all goes well, as much as can be anyway. And hope now you can get some rest, knowing he is in capable hands.

Kathleen, glad to see you post again and also glad to hear your are doing well after visiting the hospital. Hope it was nothing serious. I do so enjoy your posts.

CArol, glad to see you are packking up and heading out. The work will always be there unfortunately, but the break is good. We all need those.

I had one yesterday afternoon too after the fella that cleans my carpets left. Had spent the morning in the yard finishing up a lamdscape timber project I was working on. And also cut part of my yard. But we he was done, I packed the dogs in the car nad headed to the one RV dealer I had been too last week. I had unfortunately lost my checkbook on that trip, and having made at least 3 of 4 stops over the course of the day, had no idea where I could have gone. Turns out they found it and it was in safekekeping. So went to pick it up. It's one of my minor, seldom used ones and I had a stop payment on those checks anyway. So it's back in my posession now and totally intact. Also browsed through some of the RV's there, but didn't find anything that is "calling home" yet. They have sold most of their smaller ones and what's left are mostly bigger units. There was one, that might have fit the bill, but it's kitchen didn't have any drawers, just all clupboards and i want some drawers. So will bide my time.

Brenda, thanks for the offer on the PA GTG, but unfortunately I can't make it this year. Not with Ms. Tessa and her health issues. The cabins at the campground do not take pets anyway and I will not board them with anyway due to that. It's something I just have to wait out right now. But I really do appreciate your offer.

Looks like a cloudy, possible bit of showery day here today. So going to run some errands and start picking up some flowers to plant in my hanging baskets. Our weather here has been rather cool, in the 60's for the most part and lows in the 40's with a dip into the 30's the other night. So you just can't plant anything in the ground yet. Was digging up some dirt in my one flowerbed yesterday and that dirt is cold. So all the plants are going to do is sit there. It's rare to be able to plant flowers here before Memorial Day. But hanging baskets are okay as they can always be brought it. Also need to get some dirt as well. So it will be a fun day browsing the flower places and garden centers at the stores. Am hoping to vacum out my Flex as well. It's badly in need of an overhaul. So far the rain is just passing over us.

So guess I had better get the show on the road. Oh, Judy, in case you happen to read this, weather forecast is calling for some cool weather heading into the Memorial Day weekend. Rain predicted for next Tuesday through Thursday. Hope it is nice over the weekend for you. Last check showed Aloha at about 58% reserved. Memoriai Day weekend up here is not always a full house as a lot of people have other doings like weddings, graduations etc. to go to. And weather plays a factor too.

So, am off. Have a wonderful day everyone. If you are on the road, enjoy your travels.

good morning ladies
lots to do on my "to do" list today. Laundry of course, thats routine, but on the top of the list is the car. Clean and detail
the interior. Then there is working on the itinerary for my trip so I can book a room here n there, although I'll be staying
with friends for the most part. Also need to check the kia dealer for a part for my driver window. Need to be able to
put the window up or down and its been needing fixed for awhile now. Just planning for my trip is fun and I can hardly
wait to get on the road. :D
Ya'll have a great day and be safe. Glad to see Beth has landed safely in Valdez. Hoping everyone has good weather
today.

Good Morning from the still soggy south

After almost 5 weeks of trying different antibiotics I still have severe congestion and plugged up ears from fluid trapped in them. Thursday my doctor gave up and referred me to an ENT. Several weeks before I can get in to see him. Not happy about that but they will work me in sooner if a cancellation happens.

In the meantime I have to get Magic out of home campground because they have a big rally there next week. I've decided to catch up with Liz for a few days. Her blog posts would tempt anyone. Plan to leave tomorrow.

Lake Guntersville State Park is having their grand reopening this weekend. Some of you may remember photos where it was all but totally destroyed by tornados in Apr 2011. I was surprised by the Weather Channel latest top tornado cities - 4 out of 10 in AL:

"HUNTSVILLE, Alabama - Huntsville is No. 1 in the nation but it's sort of a dubious honor.
The Huntsville/Madison County area has been rated No. 1 in a weather.com ranking of the top tornado cities in the country.
Birmingham is listed as No. 3 on the list and Tuscaloosa No. 4.
The list was compiled by Dr. Greg Forbes, a tornado expert for The Weather Channel.
The weather.com report also indicates a shift in the nation's most tornado-prone areas. While the plains states of Kansas and Oklahoma are most typically considered tornado alley, the top four cities are all in the Deep South - with Jackson, Miss., sliding in at No. 2 among the four Alabama cities."

If I'm going to escape tomorrow, better get moving.
Wishing all a great day.

Morning ladies. Been a while since I've had time to post. Not much time this morning. Have to leave for work at the front desk in about 30 minutes.

Sarah, so glad to hear that you are heading out on the road again. Hope your health problems clear up soon.

I'm in the middle of making a tough decision here in Oklahoma ( btw I'm in the southeast corner and so far not in the area of the severe weather). I agreed to take the job until November 1, but I don't think I can complete the assignment. I was told I would be "eventually" working 40 hour weeks when the season gets busy after Memorial Day. And that I will be paid $8/hr for any hours over 18 (which covers my FHU). Except my first week I've been working 40 hour weeks since I got here. I was also told I would be working at the front desk some and in activities some, but so far I'm standing behind that front desk every day. Well, ok, I'm at least becoming pretty proficient at the software that a lot of campgrounds use. But the 40 hour weeks spending all 8 hours on my feet is killing me. Last week my left knee went out and I had to spend half a day at the VA and am now in a knee brace awaiting futher treatment. All that aside, there are some personality clashes going on. Not with me but around me and it makes the work atmosphere uncomfortable. I don't want to quit but if I'm going to work a 40 hour a week job I should just go back to teaching and make a decent salary. So what would you do?

Gotta get dressed and head to the front desk. Take care all. Safe travels

Good Morning! Alice that discount list that Nancy had posted on FB will certainly help you on your trip. I am so happy that you are going to get away for a vacation. It is long deserved! Sara…I know that problem with fluid in the ears all too well. I have it most of the time. The decongestants mess with my HBP meds and I can’t sleep when I take them. I had my annual physical yesterday and my doctor and I discussed the problem again. Also was told that the swelling and pain in my ankle from the sprain that I incurred on Good Friday could go on for several months because of the deep soft tissue damage. But the good news was that my blood work was great as was my mammogram.
Today I’m heading to a wedding in my home town and then staying overnight at my mom’s and tomorrow taking mom and my sister out for a belated Mother’s Day brunch.
Everybody have a good day.
My mind works like lightning...one brilliant flash and it's gone.

Woke up to thunderstorms and heavy rain at 5am this morning and it has continued for the past 4+ hours and still rolling thru. No wind or anything severe, just nice loud, garden variety storms. I love it!!! :D We need the rain too. This should bring the lake up quite a bit so that is good.

Nothing much planned for today. Have the day off so will sit here enjoying the storms while they last. Have house cleaning to do and laundry. Will go visit my dad later on too. Our gas prices shot thru the roof the other day from $3.89 to $4.49 literally overnight! So glad my dad is right next door now instead of across town.

Hope you all have a good day and stay safe on the roads out there!

PS> Just looked outside and saw a goose couple with 5 brand new little fluffy goslings! Awww!

Hello everyone... I have been up for several hours but did not post... coffee gone and so is oatmeal... I am not recovering as well as I would have liked but it will come soon...
Hilde, Shadows new mom is next door helping her daughter de-weed her yard... she is some kind of worker like the energizer bunny... never stops...
my day will be another lazy one... sounds like you will have a fun time Sarah... great to pick up and run! Sue hope you find many flowers to bring home... I would like to get some impatience not sure if I will or not... my daughter got me a huge pot of daisies that can be planted... they seem to not like the sun on my deck...
That sounds like a lot of hours for a retired person... drama at the workplace is not good... being on your feet is not good... see if you can get a stool to sit on... I would look for another place that would give you your spot and a few extra hours... it may take a while but it will happen... keep your chin up...
Barbie so happy your day went well... what great things she is doing horse riding is so much fun for those that can do it... you get to see the highlights of the year I think this could make you sad but if you only know there are dips you do not see... so glad your dad is close... you and your brothers have had a hard year with him...
Take care everyone and enjoy this day

It is still almost-morning for me since I did not wake up until 11:00 am! I drove a rental car 200+ miles yesterday to pick up my motorhome from Decatur, and then drove a difficult 170 miles to this state park along Lake Michigan, arriving after 6:00 pm. I picked the only site that looked open enough for satellite, but a bunch of jerks had moved picnic tables around so they were sitting right in the middle of my spot, so I had to drag 2 very heavy tables out of the way!!

I had a carload of stuff I had removed and now had to return to places, plus two box boxes of kitchen stuff stored in my shower. I remade my bed and tossed all the old towels in the dirty clothes, scrubbed the toilet and bathroom because "you never know." I was so exhausted all I could eat last night was a bagel for dinner.

So this morning, I emptied the two kitchen boxes and have most stuff back in place. Just had another bagel and some iced tea I made. I have some frozen stuff for dinner, but tomorrow will need to do some grocery shopping. Tasks for today include grading papers (never-ending) and balancing my checkbook. Also need to file the mail stuff I picked up in Ohio, so it will still take me a few days to catch up. Right now, I am just relaxing and watching TV.

It is SO nice to have my home back again!!

Sue, I am probably going to meander up to Tawas Point State park on Tuesday, and stay there until Friday. Hope to see you at Aloha! I will fix dinner for us.

My DH just ask me if I had ever seen a place with so many lazy things laying around, meaning us and the cats. I am still coughing from the cold I caught a month ago. It's getting better but slowly. I have an adjustable bed so I sleep almost sitting up. I wake up feeling tired so not a restful way to sleep. My sister sounds worse than I do and she has been to the doctor.

Sarah, wish I could take off and catch up with Liz too. You have a good excuse to get on the road. The weather channel is showing flooding in Alabama so be careful. It seems like we have more tornadoes here too. Don't know if it is true or we just have better reporting. If we had thought about it we would have put a shelter in our hill when we were building it.

It seems there are about as many bad work camping jobs as good. I sure couldn't stand on my feet for 8 hours. I think I would have a talk about what they said and what you are having to do. They should be paying you now.

I am expecting our gas to make another jump. A couple of weeks ago I paid 3.11 and then it jumped to 3.29. With all the talk on the news about gas going up that's all the excuse they need to raise it again.

Guess I better get on the laundry. I usually try to wash a load a day but that hasn't been happening. Yesterday I took the dog to the vet for his 6 month shot. Everything was good but the vet wants him to stay quiet for 3 more weeks. At least the expensive food is keeping his teeth clean. It was too hot to leave him in the van so didn't go to the store. Don't much feel like going today but don't know what we will have tomorrow if I don't go.

Ivy has survived her first heavy rainstorm. No real leaks, but I did feel dampness around one window, so I'll mend that when I get home.

Gosh, it's good to read everybody's post again! I've had neither internet nor 3G/4G phones the last few days. Amazing how much I miss it. :)

Good afternoon all. Just spent the whole morning chasing an escapee. Ozzy decided he wanted to see the big brave world and broke through a "soft" spot in the fence. I didn't know he knew about it, oh well, sure did get my exercise this AM. He visited everyone on the block before I was able to get a leash on him. The little heathen is now on a leash until she who must not be named decides otherwise. It will be a very slow decision making process. Now a trip to the hardware store is in order for a patch of some kind.

Glad to see things are getting better for some and not so glad to see others are having problems. Hugs to all. Even though I haven't been out in a while, I have been spending time in the camper. Backyard camping is good too. I'm happy in the camper and don't care if I don't go anywhere yet.

Barbie, it sounded like you had a wonderful time with your daughter.

Take care all and those traveling arrive safely. Linda

I look for the fulltime wk jobs so that I can then take time off with no jobs. But that's just me. And I'll be on my feet more than 8 hours per day on the boat this summer ... and I'm back for more. I try to ignore the bs that seems to come with all the jobs. All that said, if they told you 40 hours after Memorial Day, you might want to call them on it if you don't want that many hours now. It is a two-way street. And you can ask them what about activities. But that might be busier after Memorial Day and then you'll get split. I'm just guessing, but they should be able to answer those questions.

Personally, I have trouble leaving any job ... but I try to ask all the questions in advance so that I know just what I'm walking into. And I always think ... it's just a temporary job ... Even those I love (like last summer/this summer) would be hard on me if full-time, year-round ... but is a joy for me for the season. Now, Amazon, that's never a joy ... but temporary and money to provide for fun times ...
