Rainy Thursday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Rainy Thursday

Good morning all :D

Welcome to Morning Coffee, Brenda! Your upcoming trip sounds fantastic! Hope to see you at the PA gtg! :P

BJ, didn't know Toby was needing hernia surgery. I always worry too when they take any of my babies to the back for "procedures," & I can't go with them. Tigger is scheduled for hernia surgery on Wed, & I may ask the vet if I can at least stay in the waiting room til the sugery is over. Does that make me a "helicopter" mom?

Spent yesterday cooking & baking--not my cup of tea--but MO bro will be here later tonight for 4-5 days. Remember all the tomatoes other bro & I grew & canned last year--well, gotta get to using them! Made my own BBQ sauce, & it turned out very tasty/hot!!! Don't ask for my recipe--can't even remember what I put into it!

I envy all the travelers--Bether's journey north, Sandi & Sheila's Salt Lake City tour, Liz & Thistle, etc...I need to be on the road again!!! Instead, I'm hoping for a break in the rain so I can mow again

More coffee now...Y'all have a great day--on the road or wherever you are! :P

Good morning all. Your not a helicopter mom. It drives me nuts when a vet wants to keep my baby overnight...and they they don't have someone that stays in the vet hospital overnight. They "monitor" him. But he needed IV meds. I can't even sleep when this happens.

I also have the call of the road and it drives me crazy to have this awesome MH sitting in the driveway. We should be on the road. I like spending time in RED.

Today is overcast and cloudy with rain headed our way for tonight and the next couple days. Hopefully clear by Sunday. Although not doing anything for Mom's Day :? Will have a Skype call with DD in Korea :P

Everyone have a great day and stay safe. Aloha y'all

I used to feel like Red and Carolb about leaving our little ones at the vet after surgery but, after another night of not sleeping, the first because I was worried about Toby going to have the surgery and last night dealing with him after. I am at my wits end, he is NOT a good patient. They didn't give him a long lasting pain medication like I thought. I called them late yesterday afternoon and they said it was such a simple surgery they didn't. The vet tech she had felt so sorry for him as he seemed so upset before and after. He wouldn't sit down afterwards and was just standing like he couldn't get comfortable. He was only there a from 8:00to 1:00, and had no lingering sleepiness from the anesthesia. I think it is the razor burn bothering him the most. He kept getting under my bed last night thumping around until I got up at 1:30 and put him on the couch with me and I don't think he moved the rest of the night. I on the other hand was having a hard time getting comfortable and relaxed enough to sleep. I almost gave us both a Benadryl but wasn't sure if he could do the 25M. I called the vet as soon as they opened this morning and they said ok on the Benadryl so maybe we will get a nap soon. Charley my dog who had so many problems was a perfect patient and never complained but this little one is a whole different story. If he ever needs surgery again, I'll tell them to keep him there and keep him out for a few days :!: :!: DH after having an uninterrupted nights sleep asked if I was going to yoga this morning, ;)

I'll be thinking about you and Piper next Wednesday Carol, and yes I suspect we are all helicopter Moms!! Red I agree about wondering why vets who don't have someone there during the night to monitor them and think you should leave your baby there. Mitch hope you are feeling better. When I did sleep last night I dreamed I found a tick on the top of my head.

Good Morning
A beautiful sunny morning here, finally. Alas it will not last long - clouds forecast for afternoon followed by another 1 to 3 inches of rain by saturday evening. DO not ned more rain for sure.
Doctor gave me a different antibiotic to try - so far no progress in unstopping the right side of my head/ear but it has only been a couple of days.
Think I'll try making big pot of chicken soup to live on for a while. Maybe the broth will help.
Meantime just enjoying the sunshine.

I'm a little late for morning coffee, but I could sure use some to warm me up right about now. It was nice this morning so I opened up all the windows before leaving for work. Then a cold front came thru and when I got home it was freezing in my place. So I am wrapped up in a blanket with the space heaters going in two rooms now.

My dad has been calling me a lot from his hospital bed last night and today. He is totally in another world. He comes up with all sorts of scenarios about where he is, who he is with and what he is doing. Yesterday, he said he was doing something with my sister. I don't have a sister. Today he thought he was meeting relatives to go to the Fair and then coming to my place for a party. My brothers and I are very concerned since he is detoxed by now and off the meds so he shouldn't be so confused anymore. Now they are talking about giving him a feeding tube since his throat situation isn't getting any better. We are now looking into permanent nursing home care for him.

All this is giving me anxiety attacks again so I am back on my Xanax for that. At least I get more distracted and calmed down at work and with having the ferrets to play with. What would we do without our furkids?

Barbie, I have been self medicating with animals for years now....and it take multiple animals (meds) to keep me in line...... :)

(I would have said sane....but you know that some folks would have definite opinions of that.)

Just talked to my brother. We have a family meeting tomorrow morning regarding my dad. What we know now is that he has what is called "wet brain" which is dimentia or brain damage caused by alcoholism. More accurately caused by a severe deficiency of vitamin B1 (thiamine) from long-term excessive drinking, that causes acute brain damage from lack of glucose to the brain. It is most likely permanent.
The swallowing issue is from when he had polio back in his 20's that affected his throat. He now has post-polio syndrome which is when the polio symptoms return (usually decades later) and the muscles are further damaged.
The bladder issues are possibly from his previous prostate cancer. He now has a bladder infection from the catheter, along with the pneumonia.
