Final preps

Postby kelpie » Fri Jan 16, 2009 8:40 pm

2 more full days and then I hit the road. Very very cold here for past couple of days - weekend is supposed to warm up to around 20. Ran a few errands today then came home and stayed indoors!!! I got all the files transferred from my desktop to my laptop and printed out some business cards to give out on my trip to people who want to stay in touch. My son helped me add a logo of an RV and they turned out really neat. If I knew how I would show you all. Tomorrow plan to have my 19 year old help set up the new flat screen TV I bought - he knows everything about everything so he might as well help his old mother. Have to finish packing kitchen items, final laundry for me and him, and buy a GPS. Still need to download my new aircard - work on that tomorrow also. I ordered a motorcycle carrier from CW and it came Wed - have to assemble it, put it on the rig and load the scooter. Hopefully, my son can help with those since it is rather heavy. My socket set is in an outside compartment of my rig and the little locky cam things were frozen today so I couldn't get to them. Hopefully the "thaw" tomorrow combined with a little sunshine will let me get to them so I can finish this little job. Very very exciting stuff! Everyone pray or keep your fingers crossed or whatever you do for no ice or significant snow Sunday or Monday.

Good Grief! That would be a months work for me, not two days! Hope your weather improves. It's supposed to be better weather here on Monday. It's chilly here, why, it must be down to 45.

I remember having all that energy when I started out. It's exciting to know the day is almost here. Can't wait for you to get down here in the warm weather!

And, yes, I don't have that energy now lol - I'm worried about how long it'll take me to put things away again before I leave in April.

Here's a toast to good weather and a very smooth trip out of the cold and into the warm.

Good for you, sounds like you've got it all under control. All you need is a CD of Willie Nelson singing "on the road again" to play as you drive off. What route are you gonna take? Coming anywhere near Kerrville, TX?

Thanks, all. Karen, I will be in Kerrville later on - probably around the first of March. How far is that from San Antonio? My son wants me to fly him down to San A for his spring break and I'm considering it.I really need you ladies smarts today - found another wierdness. My rig is a 2000 and has a 13" DaeWoo TV in a corner cabinet above the dinette. It is screwed in with little bracket thingys and sits on a little swivel shelf thing which raises it about half an inch. Took smart college boy with me today to help maneuver set out of cabinet etc. We unscrewed the little brackets and then worked and worked to try to get it out of the openings of the cabinet - it has two -one facing towards kitchen and bedroom and one on side so someone lying in bunk could watch. We could not get the darned thing out. The little shelf thing seems to be in the way but with the set in there we couldn't see how to get the dumb shelfy thing out! Surely they would not have built the cabinet around the set, would they?I mean, TV don't last nearly as long as MH, right? Previous to me, rig had one owner who bought it new (said the dealer, and I have no reason to doubt as I have all his maintenance records etc) Anyone got any suggestions? I did buy a new 15" flat screen so it will work next month and should be able to watch it by setting it on ledge that holds the bunk - that's where TV connections are. I had planned to give the 13" set away but guess I'll have to take it with me now and try and find someone along the way who can help me figure this out.

Whenever I have a question, I just call the factory & they always have the answer. So that's my suggestion to you. Seems to me the cabinet should come apart first...are there any hidden screws holding it together? I have the overhead entertainment center in my coach & all I have to do is unscrew the face plate to get my TV out...It would seem to me that every mfgr. would build them that way....no TV lasts longer than the RV :?
The other thought is call the dealer who sold it to you....or go to the website for your coach & post a question there....Hope these suggestions help.... 8-)

I never thought of the Mfr's website so I just went there and sent them an e-mail. It looks to us like we would have to completely disassemble the cabinet and I sure don't want to do that. Hopefullly someone will have an idea. I may try the dealership also.

Hope you have figured out your TV thing today, and that it's warm enough for you to do all the stuff you need to do before you can roll! I also hope you can take some pics of your trip, and stay in touch as you can.
