Saturday with wind and rain

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Saturday with wind and rain

Postby Liz » Sat May 04, 2013 6:48 am

The wind is here already, wanting to rip my RV door off every time I open it. Heavy rain coming in later and continuing through the first part of next week. Kind of spoiling my fun plans.

I took Thistle on a couple hikes yesterday since I figured it wouldn't be possible today. From inside he RV all he wants to do is get out there and chase the geese off the point. The thought really keeps him roiled...going to be a looong weekend!

I have to travel Monday, and it may be my first time hooking up and driving in heavy rain. There has to be a first time.

The best thing is I have good TV reception here, full hook-ups, and good free WiFi.

Hope the weather where you are is fair. Happy weekend to all.

Stuck at home on Saturday

Postby carolb » Sat May 04, 2013 6:50 am

Good morning all! :D

G'grief, Sue, hope you don't lose your "em" key! Too "em"any words with "m." Before I forget, Rita posted on gtg's that she's headed back to the midwest (from CA) & looking for gtg's--just wanted to get the word out to you MC people in case you don't get to her post.

So I'm still here at home! Dang street crew came by & added dirt & grass seed where the snow plows had scrapped away my lawn this past winter---well, now I need to keep it watered! UGH...& then, stupid me, I planted beet seeds yesterday that will also need to be kept wet. So I haven't gone anywhere for the weekend--yet. But think I'll sneak out for a quick overnight in HB. Feeling oppressed being home this long. Also, since I've been home (10 days now), I've worked in the yard everyday but one? Dang, if I ain't sore from head to toe!!!!

So today? More gardening & housecleaning...

Barbie, you have your hands full with your dad, but his being in the hospital right now is probably the best thing for him. Try to "unwind" & know that he's in good hands???? Will keep you in my prayers...

Okay ladies, y'all have a great day! 8-)

Good Morning Liz,

Looks like it's your turn to be in the rain. Soos, Donna and Dell had their share this week too. Funny thing about this latest storm that has come across the country, dumping snow and rains etc., totally missed us here in Northern Michigan. No snow, no rain, no nothing but some clouds one day. Otherwise, perfect weather with plenty of sunshine and above normal temps. All this coming week looking great too.

So I will be out in the yard working on my projects I want to get done before the nice summer weather really kicks in. Need to d do some touch ups on my newly painted walls this morning, so i can put the painting stuff away. The outside to lay ties.

The TT hunt is over. After looking at dealer websites, watching Craigslist, looking at some on dealers lots etc., i have placed an order for a Rockwood Mini Light 1906. http://www.forestriverinc.com/TravelTra ... e=trailers I kind of hate having to order sight unseen, but nobody has this model in stock anywhere, so...... My local dealer here, who carries the Micor Lite, same model just different name, would also have to order and said it would take at least 8-10 weeks. ACK! Camping season will be half over by then. Contacted the dealer I got my last Rockwood fromt. He said 6 weeks and then asked if I wanted it before Memorial Day. Told him it would be wonderful if that were to happen, so don't know what he has in mind. Told him to go ahead and order it, which he was going to do yesterday. Price was much better than the local guys too. So Monday, I will venture over to Petoskey and put down a deposit. Then the wait begins. Judy, I am really hoping that I will be able to join you at Aloha. We shall see.

Ms. Tessa did okay at her vet appt. yesterday. She's lost another pound roughly and her phosphorous levels are up again. So he increased the tablets by one and also has her on antibiotics for bacterial infection in urinary tract, which has been ongoing for a long time now. Otherwise, said to just keep up the good work, she is alert, just being doggie self and quality of life is good, so we continue on for now. See her again in 3 weeks. Took both of them to the park for a walk last night and she of course headed for the lake to go wading,

Time to get busy here. Everyone have a wonderful day and keep dry LIz :)

Hi there! Got back on the forum for a minute & realize Liz & I posted within minutes. Guess they'll get combined sometime this a.m. Good to see you, Liz! Are you still in FL? Wishing you safe travels in the rain! When I left FL last Aug to bring my HarBor home to NY, major downpours until I got to No FL. You're more experienced than me, so I know you can do it! :P

So glad that you were able to keep Soos blood pressure in check.....bumps and dings are stressful. No one enjoys feeling that human. Those things just seem to jump out and attach our rigs and vehicles sometimes. :? It was nice that the rain held back to that you guys could get a day of beach walking. :)

Good morning everyone.
Rainy & overcast here in KC today - supposed to get back into the 40's though so we're happy after getting snow Thursday night - very unusual even for KS.
Sue, glad to hear you've ordered a new TT - looks like it will be perfect.
Liz, hoping your get a break in the rain so you can disconnect everything & get on the road - stay safe.
Carolb, sorry you didn't get to go away for the weekend - hopefully you can go on an overnight at least... :D
Donna, I LOVE your blogs! So nice seeing the pics & hearing how the GTG is going - thanks so much for taking the time to post these. Despite the rain, it looks like you are having a good time. btw, the pic of the waves made me feel like I could feel the spray from the ocean. :)
Not much going on here today - some cleaning & 'work' work. Next weekend taking youngest daughter to visit oldest daughter & family in Dallas - will be with my 2 girls for Mother's day... nice! :D :D So looking forward to my mini-roadtrip. :D :D :D
Well, better get started - hope everyone stays safe & dry.

good morning ladies
ahhhh, Saturday, routine cleaning day :P
Grandson and big scary dog are gone, I was getting really worried when second grandson showed up with his friend and
they proceeded to crank up the stereo etc for a short while. Then suddenly it was all quiet and no one was around :D
Son came by and said the new unit for grandson had carpet installed and electricity scheduled to be on Monday but in
the meantime there was an extension cord coming from the laundry room so they could spend the weekend in their own
place. What a relief. Grandsons grampa helped him get his furniture moved over. All is well now.
If I get everything done today (thats a big IF) I'm planning on a day trip tomorrow up to Payson to check out rv parks. Its
been on my list of things to do for awhile now and hopefully it will happen.
Time to get another load in the wash machine, ya'll have a great day and be safe, hoping ya'll have good weather.

Good morning all. I'm going back to bed!! I am so tired. First day off since the week at the circus, then volunteer at golf tournament then 2 days at NRA convention. DH has tickets for the rally tonight, but I may pass after my experiences yesterday. We took my car because it is hard to find parking for his huge truck. usually not a problem, however there are approx 700,000 people attending NRA. We arrived early, but all the lots were full....even the ones that charge $30. I was on a one way street that ends in front of the convention center. It was blocked with orange cones for the last block. I pulled over to the curb in front of the orange cones and we got DHs mobility scooter out of the car and sent him on his way. I would meet up with him after I found parking. Then 2 big trucks came and I couldn't turn and was forced to go between the orange cones. Next thing there are 2 police officers asking me to get out of my car and show them my drivers license and two other officers, one with a sniffing dog, went over my car. I knew better than to say anything until they asked me questions. They said they were going to give me a $500 ticket for crossing a secured area. :?: what?? I then explained about dropping handicapped DH off, etc. They said they would check the video cameras and if I was lying it would be very bad for me. I told them I was not lying. They checked the cameras and decided that I would get a warning. Then they became friendly and said with all the heightened security, I need to be careful.

Then I drove around for awhile and still could not find a spot. Then I found a spot at the curb on a public street just behind the CC. Parked, went to pay station, swiped credit card for 6 hrs parking and the machine would not give me a receipt. I looked in the windows of the other cars and they had left written notes that the machine would not print a receipt. So I did the same and walked to the CC. I was happy because I was parked near the end of the CC where the forum was being held; section A, 3 rd floor. There are 5 sections A-E. However security had closed section A and section B as well due to security of the speakers (current and past governors and senators, etc) so, I had to walk all the way to section C to enter then back toward section A once inside. DH had been sitting, saving seats for an hour now. I told him my adventures and he explained that there was a 50/50 chance my car would be towed :| Sooooo....I walk back to section C out and back to car and arrive the same time as the parking control people. They were reading the notes in the windows. One guys went to the pay station to check it and yes, it was out of paper. They printed my receipt and I put it on the dash and back to the CC. Now I have to fight the crowds of people that waited till the last minute to go into the forum. Got back to my seat and DH just a few minutes before the first speaker. Did I mention I was wearing my cowboy boots?? Loved the speakers. It was a lot of fun. Then DH took off on his scooter to explore the exhibition while I found a quiet corner, some good food and put my feet up.

So, do I want to go back to the NRA tonight? Don't think so. Everyone have a great day. Be safe on the road. Aloha y'all

Brrrr cloudy and mid forties here this morning, I was going to the farmers market but stuck my head out and changed my mind, maybe later!
Congratulations Sue, I hope your new TT comes by MD and that you have a great summer going places.
Red 700,00 people ACK I don't think I would venture in that kind of a crowd even if Willie was there :D No wonder you need a rest, you should have gone in and borrowed your husbands scooter for all that running back and forth and the police, scary!!!
I had an interesting afternoon Thursday while at my favorite coffee hang out. I met man traveling cross country by bicycle. Apparently the maps many of them use route them through small towns and less used roads. I was sitting outside with Toby and he stopped to say hello and mentioned he had a Miniature Poodle growing up. I was curious about his travels and ask him to share our table. He said it had been a great experience so far except for being chased by dogs almost every day going through KY. The map he was using also included suggestions on places to stay over night, many were churches and he said he was just amazed at how nice people had been all along the way. There is also word of mouth suggestions and a guy he had met up with told him to call a couple in a nearby town. He mentioned the couples name and come to find out one of the women who had stopped at our table to chat knew them and then guy at the next table said he knew them too and they were good people. What a small world. He took our picture and I checked his blog yesterday and there we were and for once it was a picture with my eyes open.
My challenge for the day is to set up my new iPhone ACK I bought the AT&T insurance for it and then wondered if I should have just gone with the Apple Care plan but it doesn't cover lost, stolen or damaged so... these things are $650. to replace if you aren't due for an upgrade  maybe I'd better stick to the AT&T. He also told me the iPad I bought at Amazon wasn't the one you could by a data plan for it will only work with wifi. Guess i didn't do my homework well enough, of course they have all sorts of specials and rebates and for $109. I can trade it in for the other kind. But they are only giving me $150 for the mini and I know I could sell it for more than that on eBay. Too many decisions think I'll have my next breakfast course.
Stay safe and I hope the rain stopped long enough for you to get ready to go Liz.

This made me laugh. Seven hundred THOUSAND people descending on LV? Another thing to blame Obama for.

Please don't take offense ... that was meant to be a gentle tickle. Speaking of a circus ... because of the NRA convention, I keep getting email blasts from the other side. Politics just tickles me.

Weather here is severe clear and high 80s. The outside roaches seem to have come out of nowhere. I didn't know there were THAT many roaches here on the desert. Got my house sprayed on Monday, and this morning there were about 12 dead roaches outside my patio door and nowhere else.

Now think about it: Why do they all gather at my door? Is it natural selection? This does not bode well. I think I'll get one of those retractable screen doors like I have on my front door.

For those of you with bad weather, just batten down and enjoy. Life is good.

It's in Houston and I think the number is actually supposed to be 70,000 members according to the NRA and Houston newspapers. ;)
