Good morning !! Think I'm one of those MIA, although I don't post every day. Have tried to keep up with morning post, but find there is so much in General I have missed out on. I know just how you feel, Carol, always more fun and interesting on the road. So glad you had such a nice trip and met so many of our Sistahs on the way.

Think most of you know, I have been trying to get things cleared up here, so I can get rid of the responsibilities of mowing, cleaning and the bills that come with this place  etc. Liz, has been here helping and did so much, we even recruited Sarah one wk end. There is still so much stuff here, so will be working for some time yet. Liz, is leaving today, its been so nice to have her here, she has fought "hitch itch" to help me here, hate to see her leave, but know she has to get on with her travels. Besides, a person can only take so many times of being beaten in cards   I need to recoup my spirits    I will really miss our nightly game of cards.

What fun, Chris, you make a wonderful clown. Dawn, sounds like you are enjoying your job, Lori, glad you and Ernie are settled in for summer, post when you can. Kathleen, so sorry you must find a home, for Shadow, did your possibility of neighbors mother work out? Sue, you have way to much energy and ambition, wanna come visit me :D , not doing any painting except for decks, and have someone doing them, but lots of energy type things still to do around here

I have a new computer, windows 8 and not used to it and not liking it to much yet, Liz and Sarah hated it. I'm not computer smart and the way its going may not do to well on this thing :o    So, will close this for this morning, just wanted to check in.

Take care, those on the road, stay safe,
CArol :)

Good Morning to the Carols and all who follow,

Carolb, it feels just right having you on your old computer and not having the "u" in your wording. For some reason, I guess we have all been reading along without it for so long, that now that you can get it in there, it just isn't the same  And Carol, so glad you posted this moring too, as I've been wondering how you are doing down in the south. Sorry to hear that Liz is getting readdy to pull out, but I guess there is a time, when all good things must come to an end. Sounds like you are making progress, so just keep up a head of steam and crank away. As for me, I have never been a person who is content to idle. I have to be doing something, hence the reason why i spend time working around my place here. Plus I too am considering unloading this S&B for perhaps something smaller. Actually, I am considering moving into Michigan's U.P. depending on whether or not a possible condo situation devlops like it's planned. The resort I stay at up there is for sale right now and if it does not sell as a resort by November, they are going to take it off the market for the winter months and relist it again next March as individual condos. So I am checking into that possibility. Would be a nice spot to spend summers and head south in winter. We shall see.

Well, I spent yesterday at two different RV dealers, one about 60 miles northeast and the other right near me here. Looked at some different rigs at the first one and got an OTD price on one that includes everything, including sway contraols, brake installer etc. That one is a 19ft Sportsman 190. The other one I have looked at is a Flagstaff Micro Lite 1905 which was one of two models I am considering in that line. It has a rear bathroom, side dinette, kitchen and front Murphy bed setup. I just happened to luck out in that the only one they had of that one was recently sold, but the people who bought it, were getting their walk through, and I was able to check it out as well. Threw that model out as with the bathroom in the rear and the Murphy bed in front, it limited the window space, a bit too dark for me. The other model of this same brand has a rear dinette with a rear window which I think would be much nicer. I like the Sportsman cause it has a front window and there is so much light in it the way it's designed, but I don't know if I want to drag 23 feet of trailer around counting it's hitch. There is a similiar model in a 16ft, which might be better. So will chew on this for a bit here.

BJ,as to the MH, there are pros and cons on that issue for me. One is the higher cost of owning the MH as opposed to a TT. With gas hovering around $3.80 in this neck of the woods, and the fact that I am a person who likes to camp, but also like to take off and sightsee, it can become a bit of an expensive trip in regards to gas. We all know that MH's are not easy on gas. And the insurance is way higher than a TT's, not to mention other maintenance that needs to be performed. If I get a TT that my Flex can tow for this summer and next, I can take a trip around the U.P. if I want, staying at different state parks and doing some running around and sightseeing, way cheaper than I could with the MH. The Flex is getting about 20 mph just running around to town here and at least 25 on the highway. I'm sure that once it has to pull a TT, that will go down. But once that TT is parked, then I can run all over for way less gas. But the MH would be easier in terms of just jumping in and taking off, like maybe to a FL GTG in winter. I"m considering going over to look at it, but yesterday was rainy all day for the most part and although I did go look at TT's. Looking that MH over would have been a bit harder. I may wind up going over there today. We shall see. Another 60 miles plus, one way trip.

But for right now, I have a Chiropractor appt. this morning and need to stop at bank as well. Then probably to Home Depot to get some paint to do my hallway. I recently painted it earler last month, but it's too dark, so I want to get a contrast color and lighten it up. After that we shall see where they day goes.

Glad to see that some of the MIA's are starting to filter back in here. Sure do miss you. Chime in even if all you are doing is cleaning house  At least we know you are still here.

Well, off and running here. Have a great day all.

Aloha. Today is Lei day in Hawaii. Today is May Day and I sure remember the maypole dances and celebrations we had as kids. Pretty spring dresses, circle dances while all our parents watched. We would pick bouquets of flowers and leave them on our neighbor's door step. They don't do those spring celebrations much anymore her on the mainland.

But in Hawaii?? As the song goes, "May day I'd lei day in Hawaii..." It is almost a state holiday. The schools all do pageants of the Hawaiian Royalty with courts representing each island. Beautiful costumes in satin of different colors of the rainbow draped with flowing flower strands and leis. All the kids (boys too) dance hula!! At work everyone where's a lei and gives them to their friends. The air is filled with the scent of plumeria and pikake and pukenekene!! Evening parades and hula. I sure do miss !!!

May Day is Lei Day in Hawaii
Garlands of flowers everywhere
All of the colors in the rainbow
Maidens with blossoms in their hair

Flowers that mean we should be happy
Throwing aside a load of care
Oh, May Day is Lei Day in Hawaii
May Day is happy days out there

Everyone have a beautiful May Day.

Taking a rest day here at the state park I am staying at in Michigan, south of Detroit, today before my doctor and dentist appointments tomorrow. Still got work catching up to do. Terrific view of Lake Erie from this site and a beautiful, sunny and warm day expected for today and tomorrow. Got my 2013 Michigan pass delivered by a park ranger this morning. It is only $30.50 in Michigan for an annual non-resident pass, and the campground fees do not include a pass, so it is well worth the money since I will be in Michigan parks for at least a couple or more weeks this month and next before I head west.

I am also working to do some housecleaning today. I stocked up on groceries yesterday at my favorite Meijers store, which was wonderful because they have all the brands I like and very good prices. Got all those put away, so now I need to do some dusting and put some ArmourAll on my dash and hard plastic stuff in my cab so it looks nice. Maybe laundry tomorrow if I can find a laundromat nearby. Also, think I found a truck wash I can use just across from this state park. So, going to be a good day today. Might even go for a beachwalk.

Very quiet here along the lake because only 6 other RV units in a park with 256 spaces. I might not like it as much if it were full of families and partiers, however, as I really do enjoy quiet and privacy these days. Only real negative is the low rumble from the coal-burning power plant next door and the freeway in the distance.

Good Morning all,
CArol I know you are going to miss Liz but I know the road was calling. Carolb is ready to roll again maybe she will surprise you.
Red I think it would be great if you could plan a vacation to be Hawaii on Lei Day that sounds like so much fun with everyone celebrating. I remember one year in grade school the spring play featured a May Pole and I can still remember the words to the song we sang and it was really long. Started out, Come to the May Pole come to the play pole the Morris Dance will soon begin, winter is routed, phrases are shouted as flowers burst their bonds within. Here is a link to May Pole and Morris Dancing celebrations in England.

Well here is a surprise "I forgot all about those dang rabbits". Think I have only remembered it once. That is pretty pitiful but I don't think I have had a lot of luck either way so guess I am status quo.

WOW it is really cold here this morning. Supposed to warm up to 75...better hurry up. I turned the heat on in my house this morning and it is still too cold to take a shower so will put that off for a couple of hours.

Going to take the Motorhome this week to a truck and RV wash place I found. Then on to the Emissions control station. Cant get my tags for the the MH until I do this. They didn't send me a renewal but the DMV was nice enough (NOT) to give me a long form to fill out.....sheesh. Only have to be smogged in Oregon if you live in the Medford area or Portland. I find this very unfair!!!!!!

Sun is out so come on heat. I have things to do outside LOL I am sure in no time I will be whining it is too hot. We have upper 80's predicted to arrive soon. I am trying to get some stuff done so I can take off for northern Oregon. I want to go camping and also have some errands to tend to up there. Think in another week or so I will be heading that way.
