Hi All, I have been camping since I was a little kid! I can remember the FIRE FALLS in Yosemite from Glacier Point. That will give you a hint of my age.

I retired 18 years ago bought a van, joined RVing Women and have been on the road since.

Two years ago, after 16 years living on the road, I moved into a condo in downtown San Diego. I was able to trade my 30 foot motor home in for a truck, then bought a slide in camper for the truck.

I did not want to quit traveling/camping. Now I do shorter trips and don't stay out so long. I travel with a dog and a cat. The dog is now 8 years old. She was rescued when 1 1/2 years from a shelter. The cat was 5 years old when I got her from a shelter. She is now 10 years old. Both are good travelers.

I do want to mention ESCAPEES, out of Livingston, TX. This is also a wonderful organization and very helpful for the single woman traveler.

I practice at playing the ukulele, and enjoy playing with others. I do a little birding. Used to do a lot more of it...love it.

Lyn welcome to the forum from another Californian - central coast. I belong to Escapees but have only gone to a couple of their rallies.

Welcome, Lyn,
Lots of members here belong to many of the other groups. Then there are others who don't. We all have different reasons and likes. Both rving women and escapees have dues or membership fees which I haven't been able in my 8 years full time to find a reason to pay. Don't get me wrong, that doesn't say anything bad about either group. Just different strokes for different folks. Like, if I were to decide to use Texas as my home base, that could sway me regarding escapees.

All that said, hope that you enjoy THIS rving group.

Welcome, glad you found this group of great ladies. You're living in my old stomping grounds before I moved to Texas. I MISS San Diego.

HI Lyn,
Glad you've joined this group. I'll be spending some time in San Diego as my youngest daughter is moving there shortly. First trips will probalby be fast & furious to get her settled, but you never know when there might be time for a GTG. Sounds like I can learn alot from you. I just got my van last Aug & am still working so trips are few & far between, but someday.... someday.... :D
Look forward to hearing more about your travels.

Hi to All, Thanks for the welcoming notes. I'll post my phone number here so if anyone gets to San Diego, Call me. 858-232-0819.

I do not belong to Escapees anymore. Altho I enjoyed it while a member. The yearly dues, the same for a couple or a single, kinda irritated me.

I am still an active member of RVing Women. They have a price difference for a couple or single. And, I am planning on attending an RVW event at Pismo Beach in September. If the Gods are willin and the river don't rise!

Are get-togethers posted somewhere other than this forum? I'd love to meet some of you.

I spent lots of time in Texas, in 2002. As a bird watcher I was all over the southern part of the state. In 2001 I drove both to Cabo San Lucus and then to Alaska. I stay away from Mexico now because of all the trouble with the drug cartels.

Alaska was beautiful and BIG....I wouldn't mind going back there some day. I spent three months up there....would like to stay longer next time.

If you would like to contact me through the internet, not this forum, my email is caseysmom@cox.net.

Lyn,

I've noted your phone # & email address, but you might want to edit your message & remove them from your post. Since the general public can see our posts, we tend to pass this info via private messages. Posting private messages are easy & used alot to make connections. We're not a real shy bunch (at least not here among friends)

Did some looking at housing for my daughter last night on Craigslist in San Diego & noticed there are alot of 'rooms' for sublets near UCSD (where her boyfriend will be going to grad school) for June & July - hopefully she'll take advantage of one of these while she lands a job & figures out where to live. Can't wait to get out there & 'help' her get situated. :D
