My Born Free

Here is a picture of my new home. Picked it up from the factory last June.



We have had a hard winter here (for western Oregon anyway) but I have been cozy and warm inside.



Hope to do lots of traveling this summer.

How about some interior shots? I've always heard that Born Free rigs are great, but have never been in one. Like Soos, I'm wondering if you are actually living full time in this in that weather?

what a lovely rig, and YIKES!!! what alot of snow! ok, so I left the snow back in
Colorado when I moved to Arizona and have really gotten to enjoy a snowless
winter but my summers really suck.

Bless your heart! You need to head south! I like your rig. I'd love to have a class C. Yours looks like a nice one.

It normally is not that cold here. The snow and temps in the 20's were just for a couple of weeks in December. Normally temps are in the low 30's for low and low 40's for the highs and rain. It was a challenge for that couple of cold weeks though. My only real concerns were with the dump valves though. I had some early notice so I left open both grey and black valves and used the RV parks bathroom for most things. My hose is always wrapped with insulation in early November each year so that was good. When it gets in the mid to lower 20's I let the water drip at night. All inside water pipes are inside in the cupboards so I just had doors open all the time to keep them warm. I wouldn't want to live like that all winter though! I have never had a problem with the door freezing shut. Of course, I have the two cab doors so I should be able to get out of one of the three.

It's always fun & interesting to see another Born Free, especially when you've had them 'built to order', as so many people have different ideas & needs. I have a 27' Rear side bed model which I bought 'lovingly' used from a couple in Oklahoma. I did go to the factory for Dodgen's birthday bash 2 yrs. ago & had some upgrades & personal changes done. Went through the factory tour on how they build them (including the roll bars installation)...Kind of made me feel how lucky I was to have such a well built coach. Have never had mine in the snow for any period of time & am absolutely stunned by the snowpack on yours. Yet you say you're doing fine. I think you should share your pics with the the factory staff in Iowa....they could post them in the BF Coach Chatter news that they send out periodically...
Also, was wondering if you have joined the Leapn' Lions club for Born Free owners...It's a wonderful club & if you need help or have questions, You're sure to get almost an immediate response. Only costs $15 per year & I think Born Free pays for the first year anyway...but haven't seen you post there unless you're using a different name. Anyhow, good luck & do follow that dream....

I did send the pictures to Doug Spencer at Born Free and he said he would send them on for the newsletter if they want to use them. Of course, that's not considered much snow in Iowa! Starting in 2008, they have an additional wrap for insulation and I could tell the difference between this one and the 2004 I had. It is nice to be able to get a quality product from a company where you have access to the President and the CEO and feel no qualms about calling them or emailing them. Of course, I went with them on the 2007 Alaska caravan so I guess that helped!

I do belong to Leapn' Lions and post occasionally. I just posted a reply recently to a thread on a condensation problem. I don't usually post too often to forums. Once I get into them it is hard to get out and there are just too many things to do outside if it is not to cold or wet.
