Thunder Shirt

Postby JoanE » Mon Apr 22, 2013 10:22 am

I just wanted to update that I finally bought one of these for my Maggie last year. She was terrified of storms. Just the sound of rain on the roof would start her anxiety and when thunder/lightening were involved she was totally consumed with fear. I really didn't think the Thunder Shirt would help her since her phobia was so intense but I tried it and it works! Every time I knew that a storm was possible, I put on the shirt nice and snug. At first she continued to be fearful but almost immediately it had the desired effect and she was calmer. Eventually I did not need the shirt. We recently went through a long period of no storms, so when one started a few weeks ago, I put the shirt on her for one night. She slept right through all the noise and lightening flashes. Haven't needed it since.

That is so good to hear. Makes your heart ache when they're all scared like that.
Thanks for sharing your experience.

I have a Thunder Shirt for Trent. The other 2 could care less about thunder storms. Trent is better with the shirt on, but is still shaking. His behavior has shifted in that instead of hiding, he wants to be near someone now and cuddles at times. I guess that is a good thing. We are entering severe storm activity now, so the shirt will get a good workout. Linda

Good to hear Joan. I'm thinking of getting one for Peaches for when I drive on gravel and thunder storms. She's not too bad, but hearing how well its working, any little bit would make me happy for her.
