Come on in and say hello.

I am new to this forum, my name is Ingrid

My name is Ingrid. I dont like to fly. I have dogs that I dont want to leave somewhere or with someone else. I felt trapped at home (altho I dont mind home either). After 18 years of teaching at Marquette University in Milwaukee I was "reorganized" out of my job at 64. I get a few "gigs" here and there but after I lost 50 lbs and could walk once again easily I decided it was time to hit the roads and visit friends/family. My husband likes to fly and "get there". I now had time for a more leisurely pace. In Nov. 2011 I found a 1992 conversion van, a 17 foot GMC with a heater/AC on top and electrical plug on the side. I started to turn it into my little home on wheels. I took a few trips in 2011. One to Alabama to visit friend and go to Mardi Gras then in summer to Cape Cod with my husband. He really doesnt like "camping" and is claustrophobic. Last fall I removed the bench/sleeper, put down a new linoleum floor and a recliner/sleeper. I Met DH in Florida (winter break) to visit his mother (he flew) and when he went home to work I went to the Keys. Each trip gives me new ideas of how to adapt my little van. Next trip this summer to see the Olympic Rain Forest, visit friends out in Seattle.

Welcome aboard. Sounds as if you have found figured out the importance of "getting out there" while the body still can! Explore while you can and be sure to check the member map....there may be opportunities for mini GTG'ers as you travel.

I finally got the website done for my Rvan... http://weloveteaching.com/RV/RV.htm
I am looking forward to meeting people from this forum. Last year I started visiting people I knew thru a Papillon list. Best kind of visitor they have found out. I just plug in to an outside plug, show up sometime after lunch and visit for an hour or two then head back to my own "house". It isnt like they have to entertain. I call it "guest lite"....
