RV Supershow

Postby Liz » Fri Jan 16, 2009 9:43 am

Come along with me to the 2009 Florida RV Supershow in Tampa:

This sand sculpture was in the shape of a map of the US showing landmarks. Hold on, is that Sparkle stuck in the sand near the Gulf Coast?

Image

Nope, must be Beth…

Image

Here’s the west coast and AK & HI

Image

The first thing I did was go to the Alaska RV Adventure seminar w/ John Holod. He had CDs for sale which I did not buy, but here’s his website if anyone’s interested: www.rvadventurevideos.com

Image

Here I am like a poor kid in a candy store…can’t afford anything here, but I can drool, ok?

Image

There’s something here for everyone….this coach has a deck….so you can sit outside without going outside?

Image

A new way to carry your toad, mini-toad (toadette?)

Image

I was looking for something smaller, how about these cute TT?

Image

Done up in retro style, it has a rear kitchen and bath

Image

With a dinette/bed. Well, maybe not that small.

Image

There were A-liners, but couldn’t find the Chalets, Cedar.

Image

I enjoyed looking at the new Roadtreks and other B vans. I noticed their new design has more windows, but less storage than my ’99 RT. The Pleasure Way dealer was going to give me a good deal on a used 2006 she had there, offering me $17,000 for my trade. But, it had high miles, and I was only looking today. This afternoon I’m going to look at a 2002 Pleasure Way being sold by a private owner.

Image

I like the layout of this 20’ Born Free with twin beds.

Image

But the Phoenix Cruiser had my favorite layout with a full bath in the rear, twin beds in the center

Image

And an elec. Sofa bed/slide that makes another bed. A dinette is an option for the slide too. It also has a retractable screen door, lots of storage, and a hefty price tag.

Image

There were many modes of mini- transportation on display too, or part of the entertainment:

Unicycle

Image

Armadillo power

Image

Image

I was about to take a picture of the man in the blue trying out this scooter thing, when he suddenly did a back flip and fell. I couldn’t get the picture because I had to check on his well being. Nothing was broken except his water bottle and pride.

Image

Now this elec. Scooter was cute

Image

There was plenty of musical entertainment

Image

And Roe would have been put out if he’d seen all the dogs…some on a leash, but many more little ones being carried in infant-type carriers, or strollers.

Image

By the time I got to the vendors’ tent, my feet were hurting, so I tried out several remedies being offered. One man had some kind of snake oil he rubbed all over my feet promising instant relief. After he put it on, he asked if it felt better. I told him I haven’t stood up yet; it felt better when I sat down. Down the aisle this booth was selling gel inserts. My feet still hurt with them, so didn’t buy any.

Image

I’ll have to wonder if these springy heels would have helped, because I couldn’t imagine myself wearing them, so didn’t try.

Image

This is for you crafty ladies who sew. These cloth bags have sand in one end and are made to hang over the arm of a chair & hold whatever…can be made to match your décor.

Image

All in all, it was a fun day to look. There’s another show coming to Ocala in February….may have to look some more.

Great show. And, Liz, all this looking you're doing? Sounds like you're a serious looker now - are you thinking it's time to trade in? What has you thinking that? Just the age?

Asking cuz I go through the age thing a lot as mine is also a '99. But since I've been fixing things in mine, I think I'll keep her. At least another few years.

That did look like a supershow. TN is having one this weekend but when I went to the website it looks like it's mostly campers. Tiffin & Monaco are the only MH gonna be there so haven't decided if I'll spend my $7 and go. It's early though so may change my mind.

Good pix, Liz. thanks.

Thanks for the tour. I LOVE looking at rigs. Those shoes with the spring I've been told, are great for your feet. That little red car. the Smart Fortwo, is sooooo cute. Guess where it came out on the insurance institute's safety crash tests. Would you believe NUMBER ONE? Apparently the entire cab is just a steel cage. It topped even the Honda, etc. Amazing. But where would I carry the stuff I now put in my Saturn?

Someone here has the Smart as a toad - and, yes, it can be towed 4 down. (I think there was something you had to stop and do every couple hundred miles, tho - don't remember - but if anyone has any toad, need to know the restrictions, etc).

Looks like a really fun (and informative) day, Liz, thanks for sharing pics. I hope you go back to look again! There is a smaller scale rv show in Victoria next week, just 2 hours from here, so I'm thinking I will go down and look around. Love the Smart car (reminds me of VW bug), would be perfect toad for a "B"!

Diana,
Didn't have any intentions of going to the Victoria show - but maybe Sparkle and I will discuss it - as it's only about 2 hours north of us and we're almost always up for a drive (well, she is - it's her truck :) ) - what day do you think you might go?

Liz, I enjoyed attending your online RV Show. I always go to any that are near me. After a couple of hours climbing in and out of all the RV's I end up with leg cramps that night. I'm not in the market but always doing "market research" or that's what I call it. Looks like they had a good mix of the different size RV's and trailers. The shows here are usually over loaded with big class A's and very few C's and B's.

Beth, the reason I'm looking, quite indecisively, is because my RT has 95,000+ miles and I'm set to add another 15,000 this summer. It's in good shape, and I think will do just fine and I'll get new tires first....but I'd get more trading it now than over 100,000 mi. Also, it would be nice to have a teeeny bit more room. I'm looking for twin beds so when someone travels with me as often happens, and an enclosed bathroom would be an improvement too. Plus a generator...my RT doesn't have one, and although I've done fine without it, because I boondock a lot, it would be nice to have.

On the other side of the coin...my RT is paid for, gets good mileage, is adequate for just me, and I could take a lot of trips for what it would cost to trade up. And, I would have to finance at least short term.

Sooooo I'm seriously just looking.

And that all makes too much sense, Liz. And it is fun looking.

I was all up for going to see the RV show. Now I'm even upper! Great pics Liz. I loved the Retro ones! Love the colors. I hope they have those rigs at Victoria. Beth, DON"T LET ME BUY. I'm really in the mood. Remember this rig's name is "It'll do!" I may have to add, "until." after that.

I can see Sparkle and me now - slapping each other around every time one of us says something like "oooh" lol - we're going to be black and blue when we leave.

Ohhhhh! I would love to go. I would bring a whole pocket full of either napkins or paper towels for the drool. Would that work? ;)

how much fun!!
I really like that Phoenix Cruiser, might have to go look that one up and see how big or small it is, but I have always like the idea of twin beds or even bunk beds.
